announcement OneHallyu Will Be Closing at the End of 2023
JNT-LEGGO replied to Pineapple's topic in Rules, Feedback, Announcements
It's unfortunate but not surprising. Can't believe I've been here for more than half a decade. Made some pretty awesome and at the very least interesting memories here. Maybe times will change in the future and it won't have to be goodbye forever, just goodbye for now. Thank you Onehallyu. -

As someone who has a love/hate relationship with Blackpink, a lot of people took issue with the "paved the way" line in Lisa's rap on The Girls. But to be honest I DO think they kinda paved the way for other artists to some extent. They're the ones to REALLY popularize influencer culture in Kpop. And now a lot of groups (like Aespa for example) are trying to copy their marketing strategy and structure. Essentially being a literal influence, that's pretty much what paving the way means. And like it or not, they are making great strides for Asian women in western music and the english speaking world, more so than any previous artist ever did.

Yeah, I don't want Irene and Lisa to be confined and feel trapped, they ultimately gotta do what's best for them. But I'm not ready for Red Velvet or even Blackpink to lose members, let alone disband. They, along with TWICE, have come too far and beaten too many odds for shit to end like this. YG, SM get y'all's shit the fuck together.

Like a 6, tempted to say 8.

I've been listening to Aespa's Better Things like crazy, the vibe and song is gorgeous, these girls are amazing. I'm probably willfully indulging them because they're all adults or at least almost adults (Yuna) and I refuse to stan children but yeah, Gidle, Itzy and Aespa are my personal Big 3 of the 4th generation. They're giving be what I need while TWICE and Red Velvet are entering the veteran phase of their careers where group activity isn't as frequent and Blackpink still being Blackpink lol. As a Reveluv, I must give props to Itzy in particular because they are carrying the torch of "girl group that makes quirky campy borderline cringy music" and I love it.

Cool, fierce and sexy. Perfect for Jihyo. The actual song is good and she looks phenomenal. Also I always lowkey felt Jihyo's energy reminds me of Hyolyn, this debut just affirmed that.

This is one of those things I kinda subconsciously thought already happened. Because you know, duh it should have been happened by now. So she's just been this "personality" lingering around, doing whatever, occasionally performing Kara's songs....by herself for almost ten years. Ok better than late never I guess.

I'm always on the fence about the '"four members sing the chorus" schtick in some of SNSD's songs. On the one hand, it isn't the whole group so I guess it counts as lines but on the other hand it kinda feels like a copout. And you know, gotta acknowledge the fact that other group fandoms, like Onces (especially Jeongyeon stans) would NOT accept that shit as compensation lmao.

Was listening to all their title tracks to celebrate their anniversary, Pink Venom is still not for me but I realize this song is pretty dope. The "vroom vroom" part is addictive and you know, a Blackpink track with a real chorus is always appreciated.
