Finished product looks fantastic! Love your work. I have good understanding of shading, this for me is practice (because one can never have too much practice) so it's a small piece. I'm known more for having great understanding of color yet I haven't really posted anything with color on here. Heh...

Just came out of a photoshoot for an artist profile in a mag (I'm wearing makeup, you'll never see that again!)...with crooked teeth and one eye bigger than the other. Yeah, I'm not the cutest (that's okay though, I'm too old to care anymore). LOL...

Work...in...progress...Not happy with it...I think I didn't choose the right photo. His eyes are dead. Ugh...This was taken with my phone, sorry for the bad quality .

Beautiful work! Very detailed...pen is unforgiving since you can't erase, so I salute you (since I don't have the patience or guts to do portraits that way).

Indeed a hard job to land. I went to more interviews than I'd like to admit to before getting hired. But I got hired in a school of the arts that's super awesomely popular and has a waiting list of thousands of kids trying to get in (which means those who are in are super motivated to learn). So I'm almost glad I didn't get hired in the other schools. LOL   As for acrylics or oil. I'm an acrylics type person (I don't have the patience to work with oil, nor the lungs **ack the smell!**)...But if you can use your school resources then go with oil. Acrylics can be just as great with a retarder when it comes to drying time for blending tough. It's a win-win situation, just use the one you're most comfortable with.

Thanks thanks!! Went to college for this stuff (BFA in computer animation, actually) and currently an art teacher...these don't scan as well or show the depth of shading in the drawing (or the amount of detail), so the fact that anyone thinks they look great is fantastic. :) As I said before, I swear by Ebony pencils because they give the lightest of light shade and the darkest of dark shade while using just one pencil.

A non clear photo...unkempt hair and all...there, no more weird images about me with a cosplayer. Be prepared for a scare...POOF!

Buy whatever your favorite media to use is...Looks like you have some pencil work in there. If you enjoy that, then get some pencil materials (smudge sticks, erasers, pencils and such)...or venture into the world of colored pencils. ;) And thanks!! Ebony pencils are amazing to work with. I swear by them. And shoes, yes!! So much fun!!
