  1. I hope Pledis will hire some hitmaker to produce their next tittle track, no offense do the girls talent or whatever but we need a hit.

We need a consistent hit that will held a top10 spot and be in the top100 for like, more than a month. And i only see this happening if its produced by someone big.

I agree. I understand it's difficult to produce an album and it takes a lot of time, especially for newbies. But they cannot afford a long hiatus. I would much rather prefer someone else compose something for them over this situation. They can continuously improve their composing skills and eventually release self-produced album when they are ready for it, but they can't not comeback for so long.

(And we don't even know if this is the reason for their lack of activities, but I don't want to sound like a pessimist.)

  2. I feel like I'm the only one that doesn't care for the extra content tbh. The main episode is enough for me (not that I have time to watch more than that anyway lol).

Nah I'm like that too. I do sometimes watch the other clips whenever I have time though, but that's not very often. I do watch the main episodes twice (once raw, once subbed) so I probably should just set my priorities straight lol.

  3. I mean Idol Producer is the result of a survivor show, ofc their wouldn't be any group spirits. Most contestants hate each other's guts but have to be professional about it.

However, ONER (Qin's) and Mr-X (Maverick) that have already debuted will have the group dynamics and group performance that you are looking for.

So long term speaking, start following permanent groups rather than Nine Percent.

Yeah I'm definitely looking forward to ONER's debut! They are such good bros. I haven't paid much attention to the members of Mr X, so it'll depend on their music.

I stanned UNIQ since debut, but that long-ass hiatus was killing me lol. They focus so much on solo activities.

Well, I can't say how much winners of survival shows actually like each other, but IOI and Wanna One seem close enough. But the main point is that IOI and W1 weren't constantly split up.

  4. Again, this show nor any other boy/girl group survival show is going to change the future of idol groups in China. If you take a look at Nine Percent (the guys that came off of Idol Producer), it was hugely popular, they are going to make a killing raking in the cash from fan meets, maybe put out 2-3 MVs and that's about it. They are already barely together as 9 and will continue to do a lot of individual activities until the end of their 18 month stint. The same thing will happen here.

I was already afraid of this when I started watching IP. It really sucks, since I love kpop because of the group dynamics and group performances. I rarely get attached to soloists enough to stan them and I can't see myself really getting into cpop if the groups feel ingenuine. It's like combining soloists to form a group every now and then lol. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now; we'll see how it goes in the future.

  5. Thoughts after 2 episodes:

    - So much better than Idol Producer already omg you can't even imagine

    - The girls' standards are also much higher than the boys, sorry boys

    - Great chemistry between mentors, all-around more experienced and well-rounded mentors than Idol Producer's

I won't compare this version with Korea's because the audience they cater to is vastly different, that's why I'm only comparing with Idol Producer since both are the first foray of the versions in China.

I think I prefer pd101 china over IP too. I feel like this show has got more all-rounders. The girls are so good! I'm a sucker for talented visuals <3

Show Luo and Ella are great additions.

What I liked about IP was the amiability between the contestants.

How they chose C position, guess they didn't include it in the episode

    Underwhelming though

Underwhelming indeed. I was hoping for a battle. I think Meiqi is one of the most talented trainees tho, if not the most talented. But the concept probably suits Zixuan more and she's talented too. I just hoped they could showcase their skills again in a different way before picking the center.

The title song is finally growing on me laugh.png Thinking back, I haven't liked any of the title songs of PD101 and IP on first listen ;x

  6. PD101 Korea's Kahi straight up told this girl that is way less masculine than Sunnee that she can't even wear dress, how can she even fit into a girl group.

But Yamy would do well, she fits into Korean's beauty.

This is former SM staff takes on PD101 performance. He likes Yamy's presence and find Sunnee to be absolutely average.

Do you think so? I don't think Yamy fits into Korean beauty standards though.

For those who questioned Re Yina:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpLY_fGpjq4

She improved, she still may not be the best at dancing, she has room for further improvement, but she was able to improve in a short period of time, imo Re Yina is higher than an F ranking and her determination is admirable. It isn't her fault she's tall and it isn't her fault the judges placed her in A before. This girl's determination is why Meiqi cried for her and why I find her likeable.

Re Yina definitely deserves a higher rank.

    Same with Liu Renyue ohdearplz.png

Tencent cannot be anymore clear biased that they want Sunnee to debut. She can't even do girl group dance moves like how f(x) Amber can.

Survivor show with public voting ENTIRELY DEPENDS ON SCREENTIME.

Definitely. That's why survival shows are frustrating af (but I still watch them, so the joke's on me)

  7. I have a love-hate relationship with these outfits. I usually love pastel pink so damn much, but the stylist should have added some white or pastel blue somewhere, because the costume as it is just makes everybody look so washed-out, there's basically no color variation & diversity in it, and it doesn't look great to me.

I dislike the outfit ;x It doesn't do their figure justice and the colour is so bland

  8. The fact that some girls looked perfectly normal while her makeup stood out like a sore thumb is making me think they did it on purpose to stir up the controversy online so their show can top Weibo hot search. I've seen too many Chinese shows purposely do stuff like this, I've become jaded.

    Oh wtf. Poor Zixuan warstarplz.png

I can't believe how much of an issue this is considering the center position girl did a great job. The stage itself wasn't very dynamic, no moving parts or rising sections. Also the lighting was kind of dark and the flashing was distracting. On top of that, for Zixuan, her makeup was especially bad. I thought the glasses were cute, but for some people I guess it didn't look good. I could understand this level of complaints if she fumbled her part, but she actually nailed it.

Judges ranking scores were all out of wack. Can't imagine Zhu Tiantian coming out of this with anyone rooting for her as underdog. For now Chaoyue and Reina seem to be leading the underdog game.

Really? What impression did it give you?

Zixuan nailed the dancing, she doesn't deserve the hate. People were probably expecting someone with great visuals to become the center. Her tomato-like make up didn't help either. Really, what was the stylist thinking.

Was Zhu Tiantian the loud girl? I didn't really pay attention to names, only faces. I'm gonna watch the subbed version and then I'm gonna focus on names. I didn't really leave a strong impression. I just thought the producers showed it to entertain the viewers because of how weird it was. But personally, I would have forgotten about it if you didn't remind me.

Maybe she scratched a pimple like Justin

I thought of that too, but the band aid was huge lol.

  10. Winnie got a little bit of screen time for auditions and praise from Tao, then barely saw her after they moved into the dorms. I'm hoping she doesn't become the Li Junyi of Pd101 China. I think she has a decent following online though, so I hope people are pulling through and voting for her.

Li Junyi was also up there on my list since his audition... I don't like where the Li Junyi - Winnie and Zheng Ruibin - Liu Danmeng comparisons are going lol

I want to know why Winnie had a huge ass band aid stuck on her face laugh.png

  11. It's kind of like Kazakhstan over there, you have a variety of looks, some more Asian, some more European. Dilireba and Guli Nazha do look more on the Asian side with just enough of the Euro features to look unique, but still be able to act in ancient Chinese dramas. Someone like Reyina would not be able to, maybe fantasy dramas.

I think she would suit modelling more. I don't want to discriminate, but her height might make scenes in dramas look awkward. And she's got the perfect figure and height for modelling. But she should do whatever she wants of course.

  12. I just remembered, actually there's another contestant that I think displayed the worst attitude

When they were doing the reevals in groups, and there's one trainee who was just being obnoxious and loud. Probably to get good screen time despite not being able to perform well. But it was really distracting and messed up the other girls performing with her. That's so messed up..... I can't believe she lacked the self awareness to realize the amount of hate she'd get from viewers because of it. Arguably Chaoyue's disaster of a reeval performance negatively impacted the other girls going at the same time as her as well, but at least it doesn't seem as intentional.

Oh I didn't get that impression at all, but I do understand if people do.

    I've watched both episodes now

    My faves for now:

    Xuanyi

    Fu Jing

    Duan Aojuan

    Mimi

    Winnie

People whose performances I look forward to/potential faves:

    Liu Danmeng

    Ni Qiuyun/Yun-ge (OACA)

    Meiqi (Yuehua)

    Yamy

    Yang Ruihan (Yuehua)

    Kimberley

    Lucia

    Li Zixuan (OACA)

    Mena (Yuehua)

    Wang Mangjun (Banana)

    Liu Niyi (Banana)

    Lin Junyi (OACA)

    Qiang Dongyue (Banana)

not in any particular order and I need more eps to really pick a fave tbh.

I may have forgotten some people ;x

  13. Not really, they just showed her getting a D

    Oh that's why I didn't remember >.>

WJ/SN isn't one of my bias groups so I don't really follow their activities, but I do like their stages. To me Bona is the most beautiful, but Xuanyi always catches my eye because her visuals are more unique and her smile is so bright and stunning. And Meiqi is really talented. I'm glad they will have a chance to receive more attention without a language barrier.

My mom joins me whenever I watch the show and her fave is by far Xuanyi so far. Normally she criticizes the idols I like lol so I'm glad. She says Xuanyi has got star potential and seems really likable.

  14. The girl from Spain isn't mixed, she's just born there. There is one mixed, Ju Lin who is half German. Also everyone thinks Reyina who comes in ep2 is mixed, but she's just Uyghur Chinese.

I don't know if this bothers anyone else, but why does she sound North American? I know she trained in the US for a bit, but does that make you lose your Australian accent completely? Even Nicole Kidman still sounds Australian when she speaks normally and not for a role.

Oh I forgot about Ju Lin! Was her first performance shown?

Although I can differentiate accents, it doesn't bother me since english isn't my first language. It's fine as long as it's comprehensible.

  15. If that's the case, then fine really. And yeah she was talking to a person who could understand english at the moment in the episode. But if you're talking to a mandarin speaker and then you're suddenly droppin' them english bombs, then that can kinda get a little irritating. BUT, I'd let her go, since she's spent a predominant amount of her time elsewhere and is probably more comfortable speaking english i guess. I've come across chinese speaking people who use it as a status thing in coversation (in mandarin), and THATS what probably annoys me.

I don't really mind, but I could understand if it rubbed people the wrong way. It's really unnecessary since she speaks mandarin fluently, so it can seem like she wants to be 'cool' by constantly showing off another language.
