  1. Lol fancy seeing you here. I kind of agree about be the light, but then again I'm not a ballad person.
  2. I can't even pick a bias for Block B to be honest. Well Zico, musically, but general personality wise?
  3. FUCK, UKWON, SERIOUSLY? Can I just comment that this boy has so much damn natural charisma. It's ridiculous.
  4. Boooo! I thought 7ontheblock was in the process of doing it? They did the teaser for the show.
  5. Oh! And when an English sub of signal B comes out, will someone post it pretty please?
  6. This is not a video where you can question the logic lol
  7. Well, no actually. Your voice will deteriorate over time if you sing like that consistently. If it's just a decoration that you use very rarely for a few seconds you'll be fine. But if that's how all of his vibrato is, he has a problem.
  8. I don't know them well. Do you have some examples?
  9. Dear lord! That's a wide vibrato and it's probably forced. It's pretty much a trill at this point actually. Normally when you sing with vibrato, you are going rapidly between two notes that are so close together it's impossible to tell with the human ear that they're two different pitches. With this, he's singing two notes a half tone apart instead of very close together. Classical singers do this as a decoration and call it a trill, but it's something they have to consciously force their voice to do.
  10. You consider her a rock singer? Klaus Meine and David Coverdale are talented singers, but the scratchy quality they put in their voice isn't healthy. I'd say David Coverdale has a little bit healthier technique. But that's also a style thing. Singers in the 60s and 70s tended to sing healthier than singers in the 80s.
  11. I really like Robert Plant. Who in fact, did not loose his voice. Because he is the man. I talked about this actually, it's somewhere on the thread. Edit: Found it, page 428
  12. For a rock/punk singer, not at all comparatively. He's straining a lot but not nearly as bad as what's often standard.
  13. He's a rock singer though. He's doing a lot of funky technique things for effect.
  14. The same way you assumed I'm confrontational. It's a matter of perspective. We all interpret different things as confrontational. I would say being arrogant is confrontational because people interpret that as a challenge. If you say you're always right, it's implied that anyone who disagrees with you is always wrong which is a challenge to their credibility.
  15. I don't think hyobunny needs to leave. It's a different perspective for sure That was when I was talking about a countertenor too. The head/falsetto thing for them totally doesn't apply to pop, I know. It's a weird thing only they learn how to do. I feel like my definitions are pretty similar to yours when I'm talking about any other male voice type. I'm glad you think my confronting nature is interesting lol. I'll try not to be excessive about it though or make any personal comments.
  16. Wow, good for her! That was pretty sweet. Yeah, the confrontational quality in me comes out sometimes. But it's only when I feel like people are making unfair assumptions about others. To me, that sort of comment is equally as confrontational. You guys are just going to have to put up with the fact that I'm going to call out things like that sometimes. I said what I wanted, I won't mention it again.
  17. It was less WHAT you said and more how you said it. You can believe personally that BoA rarely, if ever, uses head voice and have reasons to back that up but you shouldn't tell someone they're confused or don't know what they're talking about unless they're saying something blatantly wrong. But with something as touchy as the female falsetto which professionals don't completely understand yet, it's probably not the best idea to take that stance.
  18. I'm sorry, did I not write natural vibrato? I meant impossible to have natural vibrato. It sounded to me like the vibrato was forced. Man, falsetto is so difficult to hear to be honest. Both notes are of the same "quality", but they're using a different register to produce it, imo.
  19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wG6Xokb0hBo 4:23 falsetto Her Eflat5 at 3:15 sounds like head voice to me That being said, I'm open to disagreements. Falsetto is a touchy thing. I just reacted when akisame said head voice can't be tense. First hand experience, it absolutely can be lol.
  20. Haha you should probably make that clear if you're going to call someone out by saying they don't understand what it is. I still think she uses her head voice quite a bit more than you think, albeit underdeveloped, but there's room for disagreement. Some people say falsetto is just anything that isn't perfect head voice which is a definition I disagree with but you can take that one if you'd like.
  21. That's a great website and all, but you have to be careful not to misinterpret what it says. Imo, BoA absolutely has a head voice, it's just a bit nasal and bright. You can tell because she produces natural vibrato on those notes which is impossible when you're in your falsetto. Falsetto is very subtle and hard to distinguish from the head voice (which is why people didn't think it existed for so long) but the sound requires a completely closed throat.
  22. What are you talking about? Head voice can absolutely be tense. Being tense doesn't automatically make it falsetto.
  23. Haha I mean as a stereotype. There are strait opera fans too.
  24. I found this gem on my Facebook feed and I thought I'd share. "I'm what's known as an opera queen. Opera is known as gay baseball; men who go crazy over over understanding and watching baseball, now just imagine a group if high strung gay men doing the same about opera" -Professor Rudiger' So is kpop like gay soccer?
  25. Ohhhhhhh I see where you're coming from. Well if anyone gets confused I can explain in PMs. On another note, do you guys have a different ranking system for idol groups who are good at harmonies or as a choral group? For example....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmlL7Qo4ZFs This group doesn't have the best solo technique, but they use tones that are perfect for blend and group singing. Would you judge them with different criteria?
