-You're the Best peaked at #4 (March 2016)

    And now,

  2. Most of you have already seen the thread I made on the Charts and Sales thread earlier this week, but I wanted to make sure everyone here saw these numbers as well.

With the absence of download numbers, due to Gaon deciding to no longer make that info public for some reason, it can be a little difficult to contextualize how well "Starry Night" is doing and compare it to previous hit songs.

But if we look at unique listener trends (how many individuals are streaming the song on Melon.com, the biggest and most important digital chart in Korea), the picture is starting to become a bit clearer--Mamamoo may have their biggest hit yet.

(Thanks to kind iKONic GRISHA for the second image)

Let me make a quick assessment to put these numbers in perspective.

Through 10 days, "Starry Night" has over 200,000 more unique listeners than "Yes I Am" over the same time frame. If you want a concrete, objective measurement of their growth and dominance digitally, look no further than that.

I know Mamamoo's accomplishments are being overshadowed somewhat by Big Bang (and whose wouldn't?), but I want everyone to know that they are starting their new era with an incredibly performing title track that has held on to unique listeners at a comparable rate to Heize's biggest hit, Psy and IU.

I'm confident they would have challenged for a Perfect All-Kill if Big Bang held off their single a few days longer.

I don't want this to be buried as the new songs start to release this week and next week.

So props to our queens. These are the results they and we were hoping for, and I also hope we can continue to do even better with the next 3 minis.

Thanks for all this [emoji106] Also, Starry Night hasn't gone below #2 on Melon for (i think) 4/5 days, surviving the boy group zombie hours and all.

  3. Starry night's amazing stability of 24h UL on melon, it's day 10 of their release yet their UL is still close to what they started off with.

Date/Time- Unique listener count- Change from previous day

**Starry night's peak 24h unique listener is 860296

As compared to Yes I Am:

Do you mind posting for the source for the UL table? Thanks [emoji4]

I want more music show wins but idk I feel like got7 is a strong contender too, they have the votes AND mv views AND album sales for next week 0u0plz.png they're charting pretty decent as well. I dont want to sound pessimistic but rlytearpls.png

I don't think you're being pessimistic, most like you're right. They are much stronger on 3/4 of the required criteria. But 6 wins which I predict we'll get is still an amazing amount [emoji4]

  5. Forgive me if I sound delusional, but just wanted to think aloud about the realtime charts.

Mamamoo, who recently switched distribution partners from CJ E&M to LOEN, release an album on the 7th, getting #1 on every chart except for Mnet. At one point they were #1 on every chart and #30 on Mnet, which makes 0 sense to me.

H*ize is signed directly to the CJ E&M Music Label, which Mnet is a subsidiary of. She released her album on the 8th. She debuted at #4 on Mnet and reached #1 within two hours. Now she is a digital monster and RIGHTFULLY deserves the top of the charts because all of her songs are masterpieces.

It just feels weird to me, there is definitely some chart manipulation going on here.

  6. it seems heize, one of korea's biggest soloists rn, will drop her album on the 8th of march rlytearpls.png

mamamoo's cycle of having a comeback at the same time as another huge act continues i guess rlytearpls.png

Didn't this happen last comeback as well [emoji25] . It's alright though, like the girls said the focus is on the music and everything else comes second.

  7. Well...It is #27 now. It was cute while it lasts, i guess.

Disappointing, but it is a pre-release and the competition right now is strong. Nearly all of the top 10 on Melon are ballad type songs, so Paint Me is just left behind for now I guess. Hopefully it has longevity though. Reaching #4 on Melon is still really great though.

In comparison 'I Miss You' was released around the end of January 2016 and almost had an all-kill (Melon was blocking it).

  8. treasure it while it lasts. Mamamoo is really good at resurrecting their own songs back into top 100 land based on performance value alone. =')

...uh. hi. new here. i plan to go back to lurker mode after this. kbyethiswasawesome

I think the songs made it back into the top rising songs of that hour, not the top 100 unfortunately.

Still, rising 100+ spaces is amazing. #decalcomaniesuswillneverdie
