The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) is a legally-binding international agreement setting out the civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights of every child, regardless of their race, religion or abilities. South Korea is not excluded. If an establishment or place doesn't have a very clear and legal reason to exclude certain age groups (like casinos), it's a discrimination and legit reason to get sued. This 'no-kids' or 'no-seniors' bs wouldn't fly in the west for a second. No wonder South Korea ranks worst in OECD for poverty in old age and also has the lowest birth rate in the world (!!) when they treat big parts of their own society like this.

Former YG Entertainment Executive Yang Hyun Suk is causing endless controversy. The Supreme Court maintained original sentence of CDNA CEO Kim Mo's embezzlement and sentenced Kim to one year and six months in prison with two years probation. The corporation was also charged a fine of 2 million won. CDNA Corporation is a company that operates Club Gabbia, Moon Night, Toto Gayo, Samgeori Pocha pub and Samgeori Byulbam where Yang Hyun Suk holds 70% stake in the company. His younger brother Yang Min-suk, former YG CEO also owns a 30% stake. CDNA CEO Kim was handed over to trial on charges of embezzling 649.7 million of company funds over 5 years since 2013 into his personal joint account with his wife. In addition to the embezzlement, he was also charged with 70 million won tax evasion over 3 years for reporting Club Gabbia as a general restaurant and not an entertainment bar. According to records, Yang Hyun Suk brought over fellow entertainers (celebrities) and acquaintances to a company owned bar and treated them to food and drinks worth 320 million won. CDNA then hid Yang Hyun Suk's credit payment by canceling the order and processing it as a return. Meanwhile, Yang Hyun Suk is also embroiled in controversy after court documents revealed that he threatened informant A (Han Seo-hee) with death over B.I's scandal. Source: Daum via Daily Naver

Hanteo did a big data analysis report on NCT DREAM based on their numbers and statistics: NCT DREAM demonstrated an amazing result in the first half of this year, making 2021 the 'year of NCT DREAM'. They placed 1st among the 'Artists who stood out the most in K-Pop' with evenly high results in all 6 categories (album sales, digital music sales, media/broadcast points, social data, Portal data meaning references and searches, fandom power). You can read the whole report in english here:

Figure Skater Nathan Chen makes homophobic and sexist comments on the sport During an interview on Youtube, when asked if people question him for practicing a "feminine" sport, three-time world figure skating champion Nathan Chen answered that, as a "straight male athlete in a fairly LGBTQ-dominated sport" it's "pretty messed up" that they are "belittled" because figure skating has a feminine connotation and people would rather watch guys play hockey instead of "skate around". Nathan also said that he and his friends are trying to "shift that approach to skating" by using "more pop or hip hop style songs" and dancing instead of "classic pieces" and "posh sort of balle-style movement". Nathan Chen is known for focusing more on jumps than artistry in his programs. In 2017 he told ESPN, "If something you really want to watch is artistry, go watch ice dancing".

Korean BL dramas Where Your Eyes Linger (2020) and You Make Me Dance (2021) are nominated for the 2021 SEOUL INTERNATIONAL DRAMA AWARDS - in the Short Form Category. South Korea has produced LGBT movies before but has just recently boarded the increasing worldwide popularity of asian BL media. WYEL is considered one of their first forays into the genre by fans. They seem to take it serious, they nominated 2 such dramas for awards. Baby steps! From Wiki: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGBT) representation in South Korean films and shows is a relatively small portion of the larger South Korean cinema industry. This particular topic has consistently generated discussions both in academia and in the public LGBT movements. The queer movement began surfacing in the 1990s and films were an integral part of the initial movement.[1] South Korea is historically not a LGBT affirming country, which bleeds into the culture, justice system and general public sense.[2] However, recent study conducted in Chonnam National University states that the attitudes toward homosexuality are becoming increasingly positive.[3] You can watch the dramas here on Viki, here is a trailer:
