  1. not with the guy they just voted as their president (who hates women, elderly, the working class, the lgbtq community, probably himself too). And a fanmeeting for korean BL drama To My Star 2 was cancelled the day tickets were supposed to go on sale, because the catholic art center it was going to be held in said 'it's an inappropriate event'.
  2. Jun-hwan was amazing in the Olympics, he placed 5th. He's the best korean skater in the world right now.
  3. happy b-day Ten! wish he'd make a proper comeback in Korea and/or Thailand
  4. should have been sooner and absolutely deserved, her whole album is amazing
  5. magical fairy, stage goddess, didn't think she could top her own amazing music video, but here we are. I need more stages, preferable with the golden dress and the black 2-piece from the MV
  6. It's a beautiful atmospheric song and very radio-friendly, pretty sure it's already being played in all the cafés in Seoul
  7. incredible and stunning and beautiful, her voice is crystal clear
  8. sounds like a banger, I'm here for this cyber punk-fantasy aesthetic
  9. it's a very relevant and important book and the movie is also well made. If you have a book or film club, it would be awesome to recommend and talk about it. If you're a teacher or educator, consider working on it with your students. It will not only help shine a light on the staggering women rights violations in South Korea but also start a discourse of unpaid care work done by millions of women and the societal pressures they face by an old sexist patriarchy still in place in the world
  10. timeless, forever relevant, revolutionary ITNW is played in women’s rights protests in South Korea, played over the border to North Korea, used in protests to improve education in South Korea, played when corrupt presidents get taken down by the people of South Korea. This is THE song.
  11. Dreamies getting one brand deal after another, looks like the industry is seeing the same numbers and hard facts which are published by different charts: Dreamies had a mindblowing year, matching or even surpassing almost all senior bgs, and it was only their first full album. Dream's future is bright milky indeed.
  12. jfc the writings were on the wall, there were rumors about harrassment and he looked so gaunt, all the fears became reality. I hope he is well and his treatments work, really hope he also has a good support system. The military needs to become a better, a safer place for young people, not a traumatizing experience which damages them for lifetime.
  13. There's been a lot of articles in well-known papers and publications that show that an increasing majority of korean men are raging war against korean women, women rights and feminism. Around 73% of korean Gen Z men voted conservative and for a far-right party in the last elections and 76% of them oppose feminism. It's like a massive push-back to the small efforts to help women have more rights in South Korea, since: South Korea has had the highest gender wage gap among the wealthy countries for decades now and it's even worsened in the last years South Korea ranks 127 out of 153 countries in terms of economic participation and opportunity for women Less than one-fifth of its national lawmakers are women Women make up only 5.2 percent of the board members of publicly listed businesses, compared with 28 percent in the US gendered violence against women is increasing in South Korea If you look just a little bit deeper and a tiny bit closer into the entertainment industry you can easily see that it's permeated with sexist and patriarchal ideas, including dramas and music. For comparison: knetizens often demonstrate an arrogant superiority complex towards South East Asian media, but according to the OECD women in countries like Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Philippines and Myanmar have more opportunities and rights than women in Korea (or Japan too, since sadly it's really bad there for women as well)
  14. good, the infections rates worldwide are increasing like crazy because of the new variants, even if you're vaxxed you can still get it and give it to others, take care, of yourself and your loved ones, stay masked & vaxxed
  15. thought so, when the Dream unit already sold like 3,8+ million copies. Combined with NCT's all other releases this year, NCT was sure to surpass 10 million records. Congrats, that's amazing tbh!
  16. Japanese figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu lands world's first quad axel in competition, wins Japan figure skating nationals 2 time Olympic champion, Japanese figure skating living legend Yuzuru Hanyu attempts and lands the world's first quadruple axel in competition. He two foots the landing and is downgraded in points. However, even with a 2 footed landing he becomes the first skater to ever land the jump succesfully. Hanyu won this weekend at the Japan figure skating nationals, his first competition in eight months. He missed the fall Grand Prix Series due to an injury to his right ankle, which has sidelined him three of the last five seasons. The 27-year-old also tied the record for most Japanese men’s titles in the last 50 years. He is skating for a chance at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. cr: nbcsports
  17. For anyone who doesn't understand the insanity of this: In 2016 former president of South Korea Park Geun-hye was impeached by the National Assembly, and the impeachment was confirmed by the Constitutional Court on March 10, 2017. Millions of south koreans went to the streets to protest her leadership and her government (conservative and right-leaning party), she was involved in multiple scandals, criminal activity and controversies which lead to her official arrestment. Why tf would president Moon pardon her?!
  18. removing stairs, ugh flashbacks to Wendy almost getting killed and having to recover for a year. Does KBS want to copy SBS? And this time it would have been A LOT more injured artists
  19. Would love to add Hyoyeon but 'Second' was weak compared to her absolute banger hit 'Dessert' from last year. Hopefully she'll comeback with a bop in 2022.
