stayed home, even though I travel 2 hours just to reach my college and another 3 hours just to get home since trains are jam packed at afternoon and night. so yeah a total of 5 hours a day is wasted on commuting lol. here in my country it's rare for college students to stay in dorms. the ones who might stay in dorms are the ones who live far away from the college (by far I mean those who need to ride a plane or a boat to reach the college from their homes). but a lot of these students who come from afar opt to stay with a relative or a family friend who lives near the college to save money on rent since the price to rent dorms is expensive if you consider the average salary and the daily expenses. dorms here are considered a luxury that only rich and well off people can afford lol.
