  1. my fear is never finding a community like this on anay platform again like nowadays no one is mature enough online to have mature convos without getting butthurt about people talking about their fav's tripled in size lips like no but fr. everyone here can talk about procedures from such a neutral and unbiased POV and im gonna be honest, i have a fear of losing a community with such like-minded people

  2. KPop and East Asian entertainment forums: KPOPsource: 5.1k members, 162k threads, 2.1M messages K-Pop idols who may be LGBTQ+ Has people complain we shouldn't assume idols' sexuality. Idols you think are gay (in your opinion) Hallyu+: 3.6k members, 72.7k threads, 1.7M messages Which male idols are gay? Which female idols are gay? Kpopsource's and Hallyuplus's listed threads are inactive. Soompi: I couldn't find any speculative thread on lgbt+ idols. Neither stats but it is the most active of the three. Do we reach a common concensus then migrate to one of these three forums, or do we go our separate ways? The Discord's gay thread is active. It's less convenient to search on Discord than it is on a forum, though. YuTenSol to brighten your day:

  3. Hey everyone, I think a good solution to keeping all this data accessible would be to archive this thread using the Wayback Machine. An archived webpage is basically a read-only version of the actual thing. I think it'd be easier to do, safer and easier to access at a later time than the data migration you're proposing @*althea* The only issue is that you can only save one page at a time and archiving a single page takes about a minute. With ~4000 pages we have here it'd take a while to do it alone, but with some help it could be done wih just a little bit of effort. The process itself is very easy, you don't need to be tech savvy at all and the generated link is always accessible. You just have to copy paste it into your browser to see the archived page. What do you guys think?

  4. If only the people swarming here visited once or twice a day, maybe onehallyu would've survived

  5. How about Livejournal community? Fandoms used to thrive there before Twitter happens. Very queer friendly. Neat tagging system, calendar, comment nesting, spoiler feature, etc. Names like Key, Ten, Nine, are pretty hard to navigate in forum format, but they can have their own tags on LJ. Membership access can be modified in different levels (public, mods approved only, etc.) The community itself can be set to public or members only. It's like a community for bloggers, more powerful than forums, imo. Members can upload video/pics directly to LJ and filter accessibility per post. An LJ comm postings don't get discovered that easily by any LJ users so hopefully trolls would be more avoidable. Example: omonatheydidnt.livejournal.com/ | ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com Some screenshots:

  6. Never thought I'd see the day. I guess it was a 10-year curse instead of a 7-year curse Been a lurker since 2013 & a member since 2016. My funniest OH interaction was getting a Marxist in my dms. Interesting interaction, but I can't say that I want a repeat of that though I've been relatively MIA here since around 2020-ish after joining another forum during the great OH blackout and only having enough time for one. But I made sure to check in every 6 months or so. Most of the people from OH that I'm friends with I actually ended up meeting on H+, so I guess I can thank the OH blackout for that. We're not all girl group stans on H+, so if you're looking for a new home, then don't let that put you off from joining ~

  7. Since this going to be shut down soon, what are some idols that when you see you just can't NOT focus on their plastic surgery. Doesnt even have to be bad but just something you focus. For me its some nosejobs. I can't see picture of Sakura and think how her new nose doesnt suit her. Same with Lia but less severe degree than Sakura. Also Jungkook and Kwon Eunbi. I feel like with Eunbi i'm alone in this but i just cant help it but focus on her nose (job)

  8. Someone posted this on the discord : "I won't stay here long, just joined because I'm unable to create an OH account. For those who are archiving the thread on the Wayback Machine, please use the spreadsheet method as it will be much less time-consuming for almost 4000 URLs: https://archive.org/services/wayback-gsheets/ . There are tools you can use to generate the series of URLs. Make sure to archive outlinks too. However, I have already tried and it seems that after a certain number, OneHallyu's server gets overloaded or errors occur. It may be easier with multiple people archiving smaller page ranges, though. Once all pages are archived, it might also be an idea to archive search results for any particular keywords as this function will no longer be available on Wayback. As a general note, I really think archiving the thread in its entirety should be prioritised. Ultimately, it's a continuous record of both K-pop history and queer discourse over an entire decade. For that reason I think the "irrelevant" parts of it (discussion of current events, personal experience, Western celebrities, etc) should also be preserved. If someone with an account could copy this information over to the thread, I'd be very grateful. Thanks!"

  9. It would be a very viable thing to do, and I think it is a great idea. We would just need a small team of people to do it, and we would need to assign page numbers for people to archive. I'm all for this method.

  10. i feel like we need to decide to just stick to one site/discord/forum because otherwise everyone will be separated lmao.... we seem to have like 5 or more different options floating around right now

  11. I've gone ahead and started setting up a new queer forum. Will be open soon. Let me know if you'd like to be @'d when I drop the link I no longer have time to set up a site (lol that timing) but I would be happy to help out anyone who might want to set up a forum type website : )

  13. The problem with discord is that you can't search for old things. It would be nice to have a subreddit where we could have masterposts for certain often discussed idols.

  16. 10 years is a good number to close out on! i cant believe i've been around here for 10 years! i loved the arguments heated discussions we had on here, until the moderating got super strict. i also loved the forum games so much. The mafias, the music games, the fashion games, hateme's minigames. good times!! i still feel like onehallyu is one of the prettiest forums on the internet. special shoutout to the GFX team! we had so many gorgeous themes! thanks so much to all of the current and former staff for all your hard work!!!! i wish i could give you guys diamond-encrusted trophies! but just know your work meant something to a lot of people!! bye everybody! - shawnee

  17. COMING HERE TO WRITE ABOUT THE SHOCK OF ONEHALLYU"S DOWNFALL??? whatever will i do once a week at 12 am before i sleep when i want to get in my weekly idol PS dose of gossip ugh... ok but jokes aside im really sad. will it be archived or completely wiped? as for where to move, i really advocate for discord!! for one, its way more accessible by phone than onehallyu has been IMO and we can divide the channels by discussion topics! idk if ppl will recognize me lolol ive been here for years

  18. Would allkpop forums allow for this kind of discussion? Idk their rules that well but maybe it's an option. Personally i think it's much nicer and easier to keep up when you scroll on a forum than discord, that's why i'm not as enthusiastic about that option (and in my experience most smaller discords fall into fighting and cliques with time..................)

  20. Yes - several have already mentioned Hallyu+ (aka H+ link: https://hallyuplus.net ) I have just checked in, and my account is still working (but... 16 posts in 4 years, so...) - I'm going to have to re-introduce myself in the new members thread... The layout is like OH!, so it should be easy to find what's needed. EDIT: I have just created a thread in the 'new members' section (Headline: Welcome to refugees from OneHallyu)

  22. Tapatalk's another free forum option. I know there's a large and pretty much unmoderated gossipy/speculative figure skating community that's been hosted there for years.

  23. The debunk is not for the top two photos. It’s only for the first photo. It came from a predebut MY that have also linked the social media site of the owner of that photo above as proof (afair, the owner of the photo is SOUTH EAST ASIAN). However, that was also an invasion of privacy so eventually it was also deleted. Aespresso(?) on twtter also shared that that’s why i’ve seen that post. But that account is gone alrd. I also dont get dragging karina for her 2nd photo . i also think people should stop spreading that she did incredibly many PS from her elem -> hs insta days aside from eyes and nose slimming, her cheek fats and mandible bone/fat slimming can be atteibuted to both orthodontics and puberty. also giselle on lip fillers? I don’t think so, lol. I actually a[preciate her using just makeup for it even if looks mustach-y when she does selfies.

  28. With the news that the site is shutting down, I just wanted to say thank ya'll for the memories and good times. I enjoyed spending my college years on here. I think I joined around the time Dumb Dumb came out. Time sure flies when you're having fun. I'm gonna miss ya'll

  29. I know I haven't posted here since the (you know what) happened, but with the news of Onehallyu closing, I wanted to say I really will miss you all. This is the thread I spent most of my time in, during my 7 years of college. I remember being so nervous to join during rough and mainly lurked. I don't think I actually started posting until Navillera. Wow, where has the time gone. Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for all of the memories

  30. Logged in to share my excitement for the upcoming MV by ms. Park Bom. I will be waiting patiently on 2023-11-22 at 6 PM (KST) ======================================================================= But I am VERY(!!) sad to see the notice about the closing of OneHallyu - so let me use this opportunity to say: Thank You - to all the Admins, Mods and members, who have worked to make this site a nice place to be for all fans of K-Pop, and K-culture in general. This site has been a worthy continuation of the traditions from the old Hallyu8 Forum, where Stans with a strong dislike for AKP and Johnny To, came together to make an alternative to the commercial boards - and succeeded in making a thriving hub of fan-culture. I'm going to miss you all! Sincerely, Mike Grey

  31. I'm really going to miss this thread too. I feel like this is one of the only safe places to discuss queerness in kpop. So many places discourage talking about it and are outright hostile, so I was really happy to find a community like this. I think one of the best aspects of this format is the progression you can see while going through this thread - seeing users change their minds, new perspectives, old receipts, etc. over a literal decade - is a big part of why I like it here. It is constantly evolving compared to other platforms where a topic is brought up, discussed, finished and then someone will post about it again and the conversation starts all over again. I hope the discussion can be moved to a new platform because it would be a shame if it couldn't continue in a similar manner. I just realized how much I appreciate OH and everyone who posts their opinions here.

  33. I think Kevin being clearly the unfavored member is pretty multifaceted, but the biggest issue is that he is a foreigner and doesn't really try to hide it and blend in. The industry has always taken advantage of foreign-born Korean idols and Korean society as a whole can often be pretty hostile towards them. Combine this with Kevin's being one of the less popular members and less "visual" members and his openly expressing his IST-related frustrations (which he usually does in English, but it's generated enough negative attention with the passion fruit issue that I'm sure they're aware he does this now) all culminates together. I'm sure his increasing perception as queer doesn't do him any favors but I don't think IST is fully against that perception necessarily, since imo during a lot of their 2020-2021 marketing materials they really leaned into a sort of sanitized-queer image for New. I think companies understand that queer fanservice can bring their groups a lot of attention and make fans happy and in bigger groups they can sort of "afford" to have members who seem queer because there's other members that are meant to be the faces and draw of the group.

  35. I’m sad I only discovered this site 2 years ago and I’m sad to see this site go Reddit terrifies me and I’m too antisocial for twitter. I feel like this site was the only place I could talk to fairly level-headed Kpop fans, and the only place with people who still stanned 2nd and 3rd Gen groups (A lot of people here have great taste in groups!) Thank you to all the mods for running this place all these years, and I’m really going to miss everyone here!! I’ve never heard of Hallyuplus but I’ll look into it and try to find you!

  37. I will miss this place so much. I remember when I first got into K-pop and then finding this forum. It was such an amazing experience back then. It was right before kpop reached maximum popularity. This place was so fun and busy back then. I will always remember this forum. Thank you for introducing me to some really good music and for the memories.

  38. NOOOOOOOOO I'll never forgive that great server crash of OH for effectively killing this place. I hate that forums are dying out more and more, I by far prefer them to places like Twitter where it feels like you're screaming into a void unless you have a large following. Hul, I had so many memories being on OH, getting up at 2 AM for streaming the year end shows or comebacks when the release times changed. Or the months long wars over badges, campaigning and shizz. Well, it's been fun, I'll miss it. Hallyu+ is really GG Hallyu so I never really found myself attached to there so I guess I will have to motivate myself to get K-POP news from Twitter.

  40. I logged in for the first time in almost 3 years (spot the professional lurker). I do agree with the others that Reddit is a no-go, and the better options are another forum or a Discord server. Kpopsource is an active forum, but I don't know how well this type of thread will be received. There's also the option to make a Dreamwidth community, but not many people are on Dreamwidth. In the meantime, enjoy Vernon's, and I quote, 'gay ass music taste.' And his gay gromlins shirt by Charles Jeffrey Loverboy, a gay designer. I see you, boy, I see you.
