Isn't it more probable that they've... both... had work done? Especially considering their financial background? Nice that they can afford to get it done well though, because they look good.40 points

Uncanny valley does not mean looking deformed beyond recognition. Uncanny valley is a feeling from seeing something or someone look human, act human, but there is just something off that cannot be described, only felt. When it’s a case of someone’s behavior that is off, it’s called a gut feeling. When it’s appearance based, it’s uncanny valley. So if people feel off but you don’t, it doesn’t mean they are misusing uncanny valley, it means you have a higher tolerance/they have lower tolerance. Feelings are not in a objective scale, it really depends on the person.39 points

Hello and Welcome to the first installment of my EXO analysis masterpost!! Predebut EXO with their current lineup, poor Xiumin wasn't invited it seems. But worry not, he will be part of this series. Now before we begin, here are a few disclaimers to start with: I am not going to analyze the ex-members(Kris, Tao, Luhan), simply because their departure from the group was almost ten years ago by now and I have no idea what they've been up to since (except Kris being in jail hopefully) or where to even start looking for updates on them. If anyone here happens to still follow them, they are welcome to make their own analyses and I will add them to the masterpost. I will try my best to include Lay though. Secondly, I will not go through era by era for every single member, for multiple reasons. Those being a) even with three/four members leaving or being inactive, they're still a big group, b) they've been around for a hot minute and sifting through old tumblr archives for pictures that are HD, unedited, have them wearing as little makeup as possible and have the right angle gave me a major headache, and c) they've really not changed all that much throughout the years. Lastly, please know that I know nothing. I only have a working set of eyes and google on my side. Corrections, comments and suggestions are more than welcome. Let's get started! The first member in this series is going to be no other than Baekhyun, whose analysis is probably one of the most anticipated! Now Baekhyun was an interesting and ngl one of the hardest cases for me to make sense of, for several reasons. Consequently, chances I'm wrong about pretty much everything are pretty high. Please take everything I say with a grain of salt. While at first glance it may seem like his surgeon crafted him a whole new face, the more I looked into it the more I came to the conlusion that he really didn't have all that much more done than the rest of the members at all. Rather, I think it was a few but very specific and effective changes that made all the difference in the end, because something clearly happened between these two photos, and it wasn't just a decent haircut and professional styling: We're going to look at three things that I think have changed, namely his eyes, nose and lower face, meaning the jaw/chin area. I apologize in advance for the terrible quality and angles of some of the predebut pics, I tried my best but he really didn't give me much to work with. I'm gonna start with the eyes, since those two pics already provide a pretty good look at what possibly changed (sorry for the inconsistent sizing lol also please note he is wearing light makeup in the second and third photos): The shape of his eyes stayed surprisingly similar. Droopy eyelids with a hidden crease and downturned corners. My guess is that he had an upper blepharoplasty predebut to get rid of excess fat and tissue on his upper eyelid. This small but decisive change did some heavy lifting and opened up his eyes quite a bit without altering the shape. At the same time it exposed his eyelid crease and irises a bit more, as is typical of blepharoplasties. His inner corners look the same to me, but he may have had his outer corners cut a little bit. Not sure about this one at all though, since it could just be side effect of the upper bleph. Now to get an idea of the changes to his nose: As we can see, from the front his nose bridge looks a bit bumpy with a bulbous tip. A quick glance it his side profile also shows that his nose used to be shorter than it was at debut/now: Compared to 2012, where not only his nose bridge is smoothed out but his nose is also visibly longer: I had to look up which procedure can elongate the nose, and it seems that the answer is by reshaping the nose tip through cartilage grafting. I do not think he has an implant; it has been established before that he uses fillers to smooth out his bridge and it does seem to fluctuate every once in a while between slightly bumpy, straight and even hooked at times. He probably gets fillers in the upper part of his bridge up until the eyebrows and above the tip: Admittedly not the best pic, but the bridge is slightly more bumpy here. Versus more hooked in 2016: I also think he may have had an alarplasty in addition to the reshaping of the tip. Saving the best for last, let's look at the work the transformed his lower face. This is the one part about his face that has been debated the most throughout the years, with speculations ranging from jaw shave to chin shave to chin wing implants. After looking at a million pics I reckon he probably got the Jessica Special, meaning corrective jaw surgery with some cosmetic bonuses, since we're already at it. Using this pic again, we can see that his chin juts out awkwardly, creating an imbalanced lower face, with clear indents around his chin. This leads me to believe he first and foremost had corrective jaw surgery to fix his underbite, similar to Jessica, and then some more work to shorten and soften his chin a little bit and create an oval face shape: compared to his profile at debut: Now what's interesting is that the closer we get to his predebut times at SM, the more his jaw looks like his post debut one. It could theoretically be possible that he already had corrective jaw surgery in high school as it would be beneficial for him, with SM only adding the finishing touches to complete his flowerboyification. Look at his jaw during his high school graduation ceremony, it does not look all that different from how it looks now: I still believe he either had a chin reduction or a chin wing implant later on to further integrate his chin and create more of a v-line. There's this indent between his lower lip and chin that doesn't seem to exist anymore. Comparing predebut Baekhyun to a more recent picture: To sum it all up, here's what I think he's got done: 1. Upper Blepharoplasty 2. Possible Epicanthoplasty 3. Tip plasty by using cartilage grafting 4. Possible Alarplasty 5. Fillers to smooth out nose bump 6. Corrective Jaw Surgery to fix bite issues 7. Chin Reduction or Chin Wing Implant to give the illusion of a reduction 8. Generally fillers like how all idols get them What do you think? I think it's a shame how much flack Baekhyun gets for looking "ugly" predebut, so I tried my best not to use the worst pictures ever for this comparison. He undoubtedly had work done to get to his current looks, but I am firmly against purposefully using the most unflattering pics one can find and comparing them with pics where he is clearly all dolled up. For the after-photos I tried using pics where he's wearing very little to no makeup and that weren't edited to hell and back, to make it as fair as possible. As I said in the introduction, I am by no means an expert on this and at the end of the day only he knows the amount of plastic surgery he's had. I limited myself to only pointing out the changes I can personally see, but if there's anything else that caught your eye please do comment and I might add it to the post. Also please let me know if I should put the pics under spoilers, I tried to limit my selection as much as possible and tried my best at resizing them without compromising too much of the quality, but if it's still too much I'll change it. Next member will follow soon!38 points

No, this is not what Yuna got done. Yuna doesn’t have fat to do this, she’s stick skinny. I’m actually shocked no one on this thread caught that Yuna just had simple fillers on her hips lol. And yes, you can get this done. Yuna was never shaped like she is now. The dead giveaway is 0 hipbone, the girl has barely any fat. You should see atleast a little bit, especially with how wide the hips are and how skinny she is, it’s inevitable. But you see none, it looks smooth an unnatural. She wore the hippads for a reason lol. If she was shaped like this she would’ve never needed to do so. I’m just happy she did something non-invasive. But it’s so obvious it’s not natural lol. Atleast people can give it a rest now. EDIT: is there a reason why some of you get offended by this with all these clown emoji’s lol. It’s just an observation haha.37 points

Long time lurker. I just had to make an account because I feel like I’m losing my mind with this whole Yuna situation. I don’t think people know how hip pads work and that’s the root of the issue lmfao. I don’t think Yuna is going to the lengths of coolsculpting or liposuction. She’s literally just got more subtle, better fitting hip pads on. Theres two kinds of hip pads available. You’ve got safety shorts/panties with built in padding on the sides and on the butt. And then there’s the silicone, adhesive kind that you can stuff down your pants like these: The first kind are the ones I assume most idols are wearing since they’re probably more comfy and they have the second use of being safety shorts but the second kind would be for more revealing or difficult outfits like low rise pants Yuna was wearing. Korea honestly goes crazy with the hips pads, they have so many kinds, I thought of ordering a pair for myself off of yesstyle lol. Anyway let’s not forget how in second gen, every other group had these ridiculously short hot pants and still many idols from back then admitted to using padding (Dara was one iirc). Go back and look at some of snsd’s hoot stages and tell me they didn’t have padding on lol. The problem seems to be that fans think that padding is optional. Or that it’s only done from time to time. Soobeanie on YouTube spilled that body surgery wasn’t that common but every time she was on stage she had some sort of padding on and it eventually messed with her perception of her own body. Every. Single. Time. And she was part of a group from a small company that had very little attention. You think these huge groups from huge companies would let their idols go on without padding? I think Jennie, Yuna and Momo get unnecessarily picked on for this when the reality is that all idols are wearing them 24/7. Even male idols are constantly in shoulder pads like cmon lmao. It’s more noticeable with someone like Jennie because the difference without them is quite drastic and it’s noticeable with Yuna and Momo because their stylists have given them hip pads that were way too big and ill-fitting. But of course you only notice padding when it’s done incorrectly. It’s time to stop treating it like a sin because even western artists who are already gifted in the body department like Beyoncé or Meg the Stallion will have padding and shapewear on when it’s time to be on stage. Yuna’s padding isn’t really creating a whole new hipline, there’s many used for hip pads. Could be to hide excessive weight loss, hide hip dips or just simply make the clothes fit better. Yuna obviously has a nice natural body but the answer for why it keeps changing is really just that simple.36 points

I do feel for Yuna tho. She was so young when she started out. Knetz would only praise her on her looks & now only her body. So I understand why she is always tweaking her face with unnecessary things. Lots of people claimed it was JYPE fault but I think this industry is just toxic as hell and she is feeling the pressure. The hippad debacle only happend because of the photo with XL sweatpants that started it all. It gave the illusion that Yuna has this hourglass figure. Knetz started praising her and trending her. I remember this vividly. I think she must’ve felt some kinda high because it was after that she suddenly started wearing the hippads. I don’t think this industry is healthy at all. And Chaeryoung too. She only started getting praise after she got a nosejob and fillers in her face. What kinda message does that send to Chaeryoung? That she’s only worth it if she gets surgery? I feel like this could easily start a plastic surgery addiction. I really worry about these girls.35 points

It almost weird how you forget how idols used to look and almost forget or dont realise all the small changes and start to think this is how they always looked. Unless its super obvious new nose implant or something, but when idols gradually tweak their eyes or something at some point you dont realise how small changes actually change a persons overall look. I came across pictures of Karina during Black mamba era and i didnt realise how different she looks now. I'm not sure if she has done anything huge but all the small tweaks has really changed her look. I never thought Karina as super natural idol or anything but i didnt realise how big the change actually is when you go from current era to back to debut era.34 points

long rant ahead On the topic of Yuna, this is a screenshot from this forum a few months ago of her wearing low waisted jeans (though they don't seem as low as the recent cover, nor are they as skinny/fitting). Left is what she posted, right is the one released from the campaign. All I have to say is I find it highly unlikely for her to grow hips in a span of few months unless she's at peak puberty. From a psychological perspective, I believe the "hip pads" thing becoming a trending topic might have actually been the reason for her to cosmetically get something done to achieve a similar result. The move feels very much like she's "proving a point" if that makes sense – Yuna chose the outfit herself and now everyone's talking about "ended hip pad allegations" so ig it worked out in her favor. Please do feel free to disagree because maybe it's just me, but this truly makes me all the more concerned for her. She's in an industry that is heavy on looks, and it very clearly looks to me that she's getting really sucked into it. Like what a previous poster said, she might have gotten a high from the praise surrounding her body in that baggy pants outfit, thus leading to her wearing hip pads and editing her pics to maintain the illusion. Then people realize she's wearing hip pads and editing her pics so now it creates an additional dilemma for her, prompting the cosmetic procedure and outfit choice. Now people are saying she never wore hip pads and is naturally blessed with that shape. Ofc they don't owe us anything, but it's so... crazy how some celebrities would rather do everything to uphold an illusion of natural perfection than just to own the truth (like idols saying they didn't touch their face when they could've just stayed silent lmao). Imo this Yuna situation is a total snowball – I do not know her personally but I imagine there must have been intense pressure to keep being the "pretty girl". She debuted so young and had so many people praising her visuals (coupled with sexualization of a literal child), but as soon as other 4th gen ggs started debuting, you'd see posts and articles lining up about itzy flopping, new 4th gen gg main visuals, Yuna's visuals going downhill, etc. It's crazy because you don't get as many idol A vs idol B articles for male idols as much as female idols do (not saying they should, but why is it always women getting treated as if they're just trends instead of, idk, people??). Yuna is also the group's visual, so the pressure must have been double. The competition in the industry is already monstrous as hell, but it feels even more cutthroat for ggs, maybe because the gp is their general market in contrast to bgs who build up stable fandoms that back them up anytime. Notice how the battle for "it girl" gets pretty heated, but not so much for "it boy" (def not saying that the competition for bgs isn't tough, IT VERY MUCH IS, but the way these idols are spoken about based on their gender are completely different). Apparently it boy for the 4th gen is Yeonjun (sometimes I see Hyunjin), but it's moas who gave and call him that title so it seems rather like a nickname that a fandom gave their idol to show appreciation. With it girl, the number of CFs, gp popularity, and everything else is thrown into discussion it's crazy. You get women like Karina, Wonyoung, Yuna, Minji, and the likes pitted against each other. I believe Wonyoung is the one getting called 4th gen it girl now, but just recently, articles of Yuna dethroning Wonyoung are popping up because of her fancam. There are more instances of that with the others. How exactly are young girls going to protect their mental, emotional, and physical health in an industry that says you're scraps or old season if you're not #1 and treats them as products to be consumed?34 points

Unrelated to Yuna or Wendy, I saw this on my feed earlier and was taken off guard by how obvious the photoshopping/elongating is, since idols usually skirt between "looks kinda shopped" and "relatively believable", not this...it reminds me of those really bad anatomy yaoi mangacaps from 20 years ago LOL. Did people on here witness what happened with Holland today ? He posted this and then deleted it after being bullied by crazy vkookers. It's really disgusting and infuriating that an actual Korean gay man cannot even speak out against the harrassment he's been subjected to by insane shippers for YEARS. I saw the qrts and many vkookers who otherwise claim to be parangon of support for LGBT people were throwing thinly veiled homophobic insults at him for daring to call them out. And I hope no one will quote me by saying that what Holland did was wrong because he supposedly wrote down the names of BTS members and involved them in this issue. Because he did not ! He wrote down a SHIP name and called out SHIPPERS. And he was damn right to do it ! Those people really don't give a fuck about real queer people working in the idol industry and their feelings. I already knew it but I'm tired to see them being shielded again and again. But what can I expect when even their boys getting into dating scandals with women didn't stop their madness and delusions30 points

Hanbin saying he's not ashamed of any of his past performances on the comospolitan interview, I'm proud of him. An active (and possibly the next it boy) idol taking proud of his lgbtq influenced dance origins. Hope fans can finally stop clutching their perls everytime someone mentions hanbin's past performances as if it's something we shouldn't be proud of it or hyping it.30 points

It's so highly unusual to have fat deposits right at the sides of your hips, which is why it looks fake. Almost all women have some version of 'violin hips', with varying degrees depending on body type. This is what most natural female anatomy looks like; you can grow your thighs and your bottom but generally there isn't much to do about the space where your legs and hips meet. The gluteus medius, as you can see above, is shaped in a way where Yuna's new shape is just very unlikely, especially given the picture evidence we have of her earlier in her career where she had clearly much straighter hips. She would have to have perfectly smooth fat positioned right at that point. She likely got a type of sculpting/liposuction and fat repositioning done.30 points

The comments reek of Hybe stans. Delusional, childish and arrogant is on brand for them. I love to hate on SME as much as anyone but them keeping their older artists active has always been the company's redeeming quality. It would be a shame if Hybe's control means every idol older than 30 is axed. Ngl despite RV's commercial success last year, I was afraid for them after the news came out. The world tour announcement reassured me a bit but I can't trust Hybe. On a sidenote, such ageist comments explain perfectly why 4th gen is so bland and why we are stuck with middle schoolers influencer-dols who sing badly and know how to pose for luxury brand endorsements better than they know how to dance. Experienced, mature idols remain superior.30 points

I really do hope everyone here knows you can’t change your body type no matter how much you loose weight. Thinking that you can borders on unhealthy relationship with your body for me. You can work out and build muscle while loosing fat but cannot literally change the way your body is build and claiming that you can is missinformation. I’m also leaning more towards the hip pad side, since why would she or the company choose to do unessecary procedures when you can get the same result for much less money and zero negative consequences (which you cannot garantue with cosmetic procedures). Also keep in mind Itzy have been working like insane these days I doubt theres time to rest or get procedures done that might take time to heal.29 points

because karina isn't big chested and i find it so funny when i see comments like "omg what bra is she wearing to support them i need it !!" ... sometimes she wears padding and the difference is amazing, yet ppl would say that she wears compression bras or whatever when not even a binder would hide them like that. atp, she should just get implants, but i think her natural size is better, it's not like she's super flat anyway28 points

Sigh. Wendy during Be Natural to Automatic, while still under the knife, maintained a spark of her natural beauty, perhaps that facial symmetry you mentioned. Whoever directed 'Automatic' loved Wendy, her styling in that showed just how attractive she was I've mentioned this before, but they've NEVER given her this styling treatment since. I wonder if they had just dressed and styled her better would she have done as many procedures as she has pre accident. She's still beautiful, but it's a VERY different type of beauty and a very different type of person.28 points

Hi everyone! I'm also a long time lurker, but decided to make an account because some of the Yuna discussion is driving me a bit bonkers as well. Virtually nobody does silicone butt implants anymore due to the high risk of complications, and I doubt any idol has enough body fat for even the most conservative of BBLs. This is because "really skinny" by East Asian standards is different from "really skinny" people who want BBLs. Doctors have to inject much more fat than is expected for the desired outcome because not all of the fat sticks around. Yuna not only has visibly less body fat than the before pictures of skinny BBLs, but she also would've looked weird for at least a couple of weeks following the operation. Not to mention that BBLs are incredibly dangerous. If it isn't hip pads, it has to be sculptra. For those who don't know, sculptra is a type of filler that stimulates your body into producing fresh collagen in the areas where it's injected. It's commonly used in the face for volume loss and nasolabial lines, but it's also injected into the body to shape the butt or hips. While it does have its limitations, sculptra typically lasts for 2+ years, doesn't migrate like hyaluronic acid-based fillers, and works gradually so your body won't suddenly look different overnight -- a plus for those in the public eye. Sculptra is also popular in the modelling industry because, like Yuna, models often don't have enough body fat for a skinny BBL and can't afford to gain weight without jeopardizing their careers. Kendall Jenner, for example, was widely speculated to have gotten it done. What sculptra can look like around the hips/butt:28 points

wonyoung's before after side by side comparison is kinda crazy. i hate when others say that because an idol is young, its impossible for them to undergo surgery.... even leeseo the 14-15yo has gotten some tweaks (though she was always pretty): im gonna say she got her inner and outer corners of her eyes cut, double eyelid deepening, nose implant, lip filler, cheek filler, botox to the mouth area, and either she got a mini v-line jaw procedure or like botox to the jaw cuz it looks completely different. i think she's happy with the results and she knows she's pretty.27 points

If the audience wants to bring them, fine, but I'd rather they didn't try to hand them to the artists. Everything becomes about them passing The Flag Test by behaving in a particular way. If people aren't analysing the expressions on their faces, they're getting lost in theories about who exactly is responsible for their fave ignoring it or whatever. It doesn't mean idols aren't homophobic if they interact with a pride flag and it doesn't mean they're not gay or an ally if they don't. I don't like how it takes away their agency. Can you imagine being gay and closeted and being handed a pride flag in front of a large audience for people to judge your reactions? You're going to feel a lot of things and it's not fair to impose that on someone. Imagine trying to give a flag during a performance to someone like Key who manages his image very carefully so he can be as authentic as possible without coming out. It would be wrong to expect him to start dancing round with one. It's entitled. For onlyoneof, haven't they done enough already? I wish people would appreciate what they have and let them enjoy their tour.27 points

other people quoting some more superficial things but honestly it’s how connected he is with the gay community in his personal life. take a look at his close friend group and they are all connected, with many of them openly out; fashion brand owners, cafe owners, restaurant owners, drag queens, stylists, hair stylists, etc. (by the way his supposed bf is close friends with an openly gay tiktoker who went over to key’s place for dinner wishing “happy 1000 days” but that is for another day…) gay rumors since he was a rookie, sightings at gay clubs/bars since he was of age. general consensus on queer k-twitter that he is gay and they’ve heard stories about him. love and support for queer media, spaces, and icons. look at the places that he actually goes to. look further and you see that they are owned by queer people themselves. what shawols show you https://www.instagram.com/p/CuGsIU2p8WM/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== the restaurant this but for all of his career. just a recent example. honestly that is all that is needed to me. idk why people think that there aren’t gay korean people out here living their lives because i see his friends doing just that. i find it funny when people are like convince me key is gay because you need convincing? just look at his personal life. how did i make this longer than i intended idk anyway im not here to convince anyone i just couldn’t let this turn into a superficial he covered a song with male pronouns and wore pride shoes! thing. sincerely, person who has been up kibum’s ass for over 10 years.26 points

Fans usually like some unique features, especially when they're already familiar with the idols (like Nayeon's teeth) right? Those are the changes that I just don't understand. It's so sad that there is this one standard and everyone tries to fit in. The obsession with so called perfection. In the beginning of 4th gen everyone said that it's getting better, that there will be more diversity in terms of body types, skin color and features but it went into the opposite direction. I think it's true that part of the problem is fans praising these "extremes". So many consider Karina the most beautiful 4th gen idol and were obsessed with Yuna's U go girl stage, that establishes unrealistic standards (as much as I don't blame those girls or fans individually! It's just part of the machine) I think more fans are admitting now that their faves got something done? Like Enhypen stans last year. But this normalising has pros and cons as well. I don't want people to feel ashamed, but I don't think ps should be about following trends and everyone feeling pressured to get something done either. If that makes sense lol26 points

Also if anyone have any doubt on Le Sserrafim Chaewon’s subtle nose job, it can be really seen in the following photos. I think Chaewon did an excellent job in retaining the shape and not going too big on building up the height of her nose. Additionally, you can see that her crease is more apparent when contrasting these photos too. First two photos are from the beginning of 2021, when she appeared on King of the Mask Singers:25 points

This isn’t a direct response nor a rebuke so I’m not quoting. But as someone who used to be a Chanyeol stan like… 7 years ago, here are my thoughts: Right now I believe Chanyeol's straight. BUT I do think he could be bisexual. Definitely with a preference for women, but I can see him liking men. Just because he's so open minded. Maybe bicurious? But a lot of the stuff fans use as a receipt is reaching. This? As a League player, it doesn't really mean anything. For some years now we had this Pride event where they give you these icons, and if you use them you get the respective flag trail. However, South Korea is SO homophobic that in Korean server the Pride event isn’t a pride event, it’s called SPRING Event and these colors are to represent spring or something lmao. So it’s very possible that Chanyeol and Sehun weren’t aware of the connotation, even if they know the flags from somewhere else. This? When it’s pride month, the pride filter is like the first one in the list of filters so it most likely wasn't intentional. Even if it was intentional, it was also Sehun's live so if anything that would concur to the Sehun queer proofs. This was a thing pushed by Chanbaek shippers. If you watch the whole video you can see he’s not talking about Men x Men. He proceeds to say something along the lines of “Love is not only between a man and a woman. It can be between a mother and son, among friends", that kind of stuff. It astonishes me how many people think he's talking about being the top in sex??? (just see the quote tweets). It's about his position on League of Legends There's top, mid and bottom lane and he plays in top lane, that's it. The laugh could be because he knows there's a double implication in that sentence, or he could also be laughing at something completely unrelated. (P.S.: top lane has the highest concentration of straight men in this game, cough cough) Ok so the context here isn't really about how they act around women or dating, it was about pretending to be uninterested. The MC talks about how many people pretend to be uninterested when they like someone, and Chanyeol says that he doesn't really pretend and he's just straightforward. While this can suggest interest in men, to me it sounds a lot like "Not only in a romantic situation, but if I meet a guy I click with I'll be straightforward and ask to be closer". Tbh this is indeed interesting, so I suggest watching for yourselves and taking your own conclusions. 11:20 forwards. I looked for some proofs that he might like men that I remember seeing back in the day but unfortunately most of it has been buried and it'd take time to find it. Uhh, maybe this?24 points

Some on twitter and kfans thinking Hanbin is straight is just delusional. Hanbin specialized in tutting and wacking and it's heavily connected to LGBTQ+ pop culture, he danced to "Call me mother" by Rupaul, he slapped a girl friend buttcheek in one vid. Do people think girls would let their straight male friends do that? Most girls only let their boyfriends or their close gay friends do that. "Hao hyung and I have a lot of similarity" and then Hao looking at the camera and smiled. Does it ever cross people mind the reason he's so close to a foreigner is because they are mirroring each other like what Hanbin said? We know Zhang Hao likes men, so do people understand what Hanbin mean by mirroring each other? Their inner core is similar so they understand that struggle. During the show many people on reddit and twitter are doing mental gymnastics and all I can feel is just homophobia. I get that stereotypes about gay men are harmful, many people don't want their favs to have gay rumor because of homophobic surroundings but there are people in denial about his interaction with people, who he opens up to and these things are not stereotypes. They automatically assume people are straight, straight or "normal" is the norm, but when there are suggestion that one might not be straight, they throw in "Don't assume people sexuality".24 points

Hey y'all I just noticed today marks 10 years from this thread's creation (although it seems like there used to be another one before). I've always liked talking about which celebrities I think might be gay, but the kpop community isn't really recepctive of that, for reasons I can understand. This forum became a safe place for me and I'm glad to finally talk about my perceptions without judgment. So I just wanted to say that I appreciate all of you who post here, you have made me smile many times among hard days. Thank you! I'm putting together that for you now, might post later24 points

damn what's with these veteran idols getting new operations after years of basically no changes and not even just the supposed "anti-aging" stuff you'd expect...before I feel like fans mainly had to worry about trainees or rookies coming back with new faces but now it's anyone. You'd think these celebs after all these years of being famous would know for every bad comment there's a thousand people who find their features attractive as is. I don't remember ever seeing a single comment about Tiffany's nose until she changed it. Apart from a small nose job years ago Onew has barely touched his face throughout his entire career and was praised for having a boy next door/babyfaced/actor look and was one of the most popular among korean women until his scandal so clearly his face was never an issue until now... Whatever he did just made him look older and more 'idol-like' both of which are the exact opposite of what made his visuals popular. It's been said before but in previous gens I feel plastic surgery was mostly to correct obvious features the went against the k-beauty standard monolids = get double eyelids (unless you're a man then maybe you can keep them), flat and wide nose = make it sharper, square jaw = shave it. It was still terrible but made sense now it feels like updates just for the sake of updates...24 points

the tanning debate has it's roots in class structure. In Asia (south, middle, and east), pale skin has been considered beautiful for thousands of years bc it means you're wealthy enough to not have to work in the sun. The exact same beauty standard existed in the west as well until the 50s, when it slowly became more and more popular to have a tanned look bc it meant you had the time and money to travel for leisure or spend time laying in the sun. Do i think it's been taken too far on both ends of the spectrum? absolutely. but it's important to know the history and origin of these ideals before we criticize them, or risk coming across as ignorant.24 points

Shuhua's work has been very subtle so I get it. I only noticed the changes to her eyes, like, yesterday, when I watched I-dle on Killing Voice This is how her eyes used to look (but pay attention to her nose as well): Notice how she had natural double eyelids but the crease was very close to her lash line (I'm probably using all the wrong terminology but anyway) and the inner half of her eyes didn't have any crease to them at all Now re-watch the video or just look at these recent pictures: Suddenly her double eyelids are much deeper and start right from the inner corners. Maybe it's a very good eyelid tape, you can be a judge of that. Either way her eyes are also longer horizontally, compared to her predebut pictures. I also wouldn't exclude a possibility of a lower blepharoplasty but that's just a hunch Now her nose is tricky, I definitely didn't use the best before and after photos in my 1st post but let me try to make you see what I see What stands out to me the most it how the tip was brought in and made less bulbous. From the front it looks pinched, a little bit triangular and in both group photos the tip doesn't have any projection, it abruptly curls downwards. I also wouldn't be surprised if there was a minor alarplasty because it seems like idols get it left and right (same with epicanthoplasty) Feel free to disagree or supply better pictures than the ones I've provided, and as a bonus, enjoy this gif of Shuhua Kpoprocedure, if you're reading this, I know you've posted a story with Shuhua saying she looks different, now I need a full post ty xx23 points

Very odd of Idle to be having this anti surgery message when all except Shuhua have had work. Like what's the point.23 points

I mean seeing as AESPA has the whole AI futuristic concept it makes sense that they wouldn't have the natural, girl next door look that some like Joy or Yeri have (obviously way prettier than the average, but you could envision them in real life). RV have a dual concept, so they need more visual fluidity. But it is super unfortunate that a concept can influence a person's literal surgery. It's kind of dystopian honestly.23 points
