Zhang Hao and Taerae voguing and throwin it back. Two gay besties31 points

Did people on here witness what happened with Holland today ? He posted this and then deleted it after being bullied by crazy vkookers. It's really disgusting and infuriating that an actual Korean gay man cannot even speak out against the harrassment he's been subjected to by insane shippers for YEARS. I saw the qrts and many vkookers who otherwise claim to be parangon of support for LGBT people were throwing thinly veiled homophobic insults at him for daring to call them out. And I hope no one will quote me by saying that what Holland did was wrong because he supposedly wrote down the names of BTS members and involved them in this issue. Because he did not ! He wrote down a SHIP name and called out SHIPPERS. And he was damn right to do it ! Those people really don't give a fuck about real queer people working in the idol industry and their feelings. I already knew it but I'm tired to see them being shielded again and again. But what can I expect when even their boys getting into dating scandals with women didn't stop their madness and delusions30 points

This isn’t a direct response nor a rebuke so I’m not quoting. But as someone who used to be a Chanyeol stan like… 7 years ago, here are my thoughts: Right now I believe Chanyeol's straight. BUT I do think he could be bisexual. Definitely with a preference for women, but I can see him liking men. Just because he's so open minded. Maybe bicurious? But a lot of the stuff fans use as a receipt is reaching. This? As a League player, it doesn't really mean anything. For some years now we had this Pride event where they give you these icons, and if you use them you get the respective flag trail. However, South Korea is SO homophobic that in Korean server the Pride event isn’t a pride event, it’s called SPRING Event and these colors are to represent spring or something lmao. So it’s very possible that Chanyeol and Sehun weren’t aware of the connotation, even if they know the flags from somewhere else. This? When it’s pride month, the pride filter is like the first one in the list of filters so it most likely wasn't intentional. Even if it was intentional, it was also Sehun's live so if anything that would concur to the Sehun queer proofs. This was a thing pushed by Chanbaek shippers. If you watch the whole video you can see he’s not talking about Men x Men. He proceeds to say something along the lines of “Love is not only between a man and a woman. It can be between a mother and son, among friends", that kind of stuff. It astonishes me how many people think he's talking about being the top in sex??? (just see the quote tweets). It's about his position on League of Legends There's top, mid and bottom lane and he plays in top lane, that's it. The laugh could be because he knows there's a double implication in that sentence, or he could also be laughing at something completely unrelated. (P.S.: top lane has the highest concentration of straight men in this game, cough cough) Ok so the context here isn't really about how they act around women or dating, it was about pretending to be uninterested. The MC talks about how many people pretend to be uninterested when they like someone, and Chanyeol says that he doesn't really pretend and he's just straightforward. While this can suggest interest in men, to me it sounds a lot like "Not only in a romantic situation, but if I meet a guy I click with I'll be straightforward and ask to be closer". Tbh this is indeed interesting, so I suggest watching for yourselves and taking your own conclusions. 11:20 forwards. I looked for some proofs that he might like men that I remember seeing back in the day but unfortunately most of it has been buried and it'd take time to find it. Uhh, maybe this?24 points

Surprised no one has posted this yet: Essentially, someone said that Yoon Jisung (ex wanna one) dressed gay and that he should do his hair like a man on bbl and he responded with this: “I don't think there are such things like "gay clothes" in the world. I can wear skirts and grow my hair out. I don't think there's a definition for "feminine" style. There shouldn't be any criteria for men to dress, act, and speak to be "manly" either. I hope you don't make any sexist comments“ I don’t necessarily think it proves his sexuality but I thought that it was a very refreshing comment from an idol.23 points

What exactly do you expect people to focus on when trying to determine if someone might identify as LGBT? People share their public contexts(their context was their chain of tweets, whether you agree with them or not), whether they're engaging in fan service or not, in an attempt to gauge their potential orientation because, ultimately, that's the extent of information available, leading to assumptions. Similar to how you're assuming it's all or some part of the idol culture, believing or disbelieving that is entirely your choice. So, why do you think we're here in the first place? The entire purpose is to make assumptions, and stereotypes play a role in that because they form part of the limited information we have, primarily based on how individuals present themselves. If you want to believe that almost everything is carefully calculated and debunk someone's assumptions, that's fine. However, I must inquire once again, what's the objective of this thread? Also this thread isn't going to affect a change of the entirety of the kpop fandom, we don't have that much power lol Edit: I'd like to emphasize, for the sake of simplicity, that there is no definitive right or wrong answer in this matter. Both of you are essentially making assumptions driven by your own perspectives. The other person holds their position due to their specific context, while you don't align with it because you prefer not to be seen as "gullible." Once more, it's important to stress that there's no clear-cut right or wrong answer in this situation, as it all ultimately hinges on what? Assumptions.22 points

Just a reminder that idols do fan service. Saying they wouldn’t do that is very naive. Almost every entertainment industry does fan service. Pro Wrestling, western pop, actors.20 points

It's so sad that Onehallyu is closing down. The saddest thing to me isn't even losing our platform, because we can move to a new one and still have our silly discussions, but what about the almost 4 thousand pages of content? So much evidence and less known facts will get lost forever, and it was also useful to see the consensus on certain idols that we'd never be able to get anywhere else. I for one would never have known the dating rumours of 2nd gen idols and between actors outside of here. Is there any tech-savy user here who might know if it's possible to make a copy of this thread? I'd imagine not because of server costs and that kind of stuff, but who knows. As an active Reddit user, it's deeeefinitely a no, Discord is the better option any day. If anyone knows how to make those cute servers, please make one for us! I'm currently creating a forum with the free forum hoster that was shared above, I'll share soon when I finish organizing.17 points

I'm sorry but the irony of calling someone an > LGBTQ+ artist < and then dropping the "rumoured to be bi" in the next sentence I can't Some kpop fans are so stuck in this bubble they've lost touch with reality. He probs is queer, I thought so since he had drag queens in his mv a few years back, but rumours and ~vibes~ doesn't make someone an LGBTQ+ artist omfg listen to Ethel Cain or smth17 points

Because he doesn't conform to the gay stereotypes. I find it difficult to grasp some of the posts at times. We may not always reach a consensus on identifying someone's sexual orientation, given that our only reference points are public information and how individuals present themselves. It essentially boils down to making assumptions. The individual above did offer some context to support their belief about the person's potential LGBTQ+ status, but another person dismissed it as mere nonsense and dismissed it as pandering to fans and adhering to the usual 'idol ecosystem.' It's almost like a recurring cycle of similar opinions all the time lol16 points

so uhhh, since onehallyu is closing at the end of the year, will we be transitioning to another platform? i find that there's quite literally nowhere else we can have discussions like this. i remember a few years back someone linked an lgbt kpop discord server which had a few onehallyu users in although that server hasn't been active in about a year. i could link it here to revive it (i'm quite unfamiliar with discord server invite links and such so if anyone knows the best way to go about that that lemme know) or someone else could start a completely new one?15 points

Watching ZB1's new MV, I found the lyrics around the 1:00 mark kind of interesting, given the whole song deals with having a crush (and this is the only place on the internet I can talk about this) "For you My Devotion To you I’d say Yes sir If you want me I’ll be there You’re my destination" The rest of the lyrics I just found it kind of neat that the one gendered term was "Yes Sir" which is almost always in reference to men. Of course I know nothing about the lyricists to know how they write or how good their English is, but I feel like it wouldn't be too delusional to take the lyrics of a rather straightforward song at face value. TL;DR: They're singing about having a crush on a dude and I'm sticking with that interpretation for now.15 points

Pure insanity I hate the fact that idols/korean artists are always pressured to apologize for every single action that people somehow find offensive even if they didn't say or do anything bad. That was a perfectly appropriate tweet. It's so infuriating to see him placate this group of terminally online losers who should have their internet access cut off a long time ago. I know it'll never happen but I really want to see an idol tell these people to fuck off at least once in my life. And many comments under his apology post are still trying to drag him! Nothing will ever convince me that shipping isn't a net negative to every single fandom in existence. Stop dragging other people into your delusional fantasies.15 points

Since OH is closing, any plans on transitioning to another platform? I've been lurking on this thread for years and it's been refreshing to see a place where idol PS can be discussed without any defensiveness.14 points

Unfortunately for BTS, at this point taekook shippers are as resilient as cockroaches. If one half of their ship getting caught holding hands in Paris at night with his girlfriend doesn't do it, nothing ever will. The whole thing just gives Larry Stylinson delulu vibes ...14 points

I have a mixed bag of feelings while reading the topic. While I don’t feel surprised, I still cannot help but feel disappointed that this was the decision that was ultimately chosen. It might be overly simplistic to say that the time spent that I spent on this website became only “memories”, when realistically the time I had spent here was also, and had actually become part of my life. At the same time, I do think the decision was probably for the best; and I think it’s also one of the most conclusive decisions that I’ve observed being taken around here. I have met some of the nicest and coolest people; but I have also observed, and conversed with some users, with whom I regret. I will be sad to see it all go.13 points

that shouldn't be a surprise since a lot of 1D stans become bts stans after the whole 1D hiatus/disbandment13 points

My heart really breaks for Holland He shouldn't have to apologize but I understand why he did. I wish this would settle the matter, but now the Taekookers have tasted blood so idk how soon they'll let this die down. Honestly, people (international fans, anyway - idk enough about the k-side) are so weird to him. They jump him for everything, even super innocuous stuff, while claiming to be pro-LGBT and supporting idols and shipping their favs. I'm not sure if it's some kind of underlying homophobia, or if it's a similar inappropriate parasocialism to the one that makes them target English-speaking idols extra intensely, or both, but god knows Holland doesn't need it. Speaking of Larries, I thought this was interesting and prescient - Louis Tomlinson shut them down again just yesterday: And of course they're either denying his clear intended message or reacting defensively and insulting/mocking him, the very guy they ship lmao It's next-level delusion. Taekookers aren't far behind.13 points

Sorry but I think you take their words too literally. I don't take idols' "ideal types" answers seriously when they're only about the opposite sex and frankly I don't take them seriously that much either when they say extremely vague things with "not just for women/men" or "regardless of gender" because idols usually try to appeal to the most people (= fans) possible. That's part of their marketing. But I guess that's just me... Anyway, I've read that thread and I still maintain my opinion on Chanyeol that he acts like a typical open-minded straight guy. Yeonjun is just a huge flirt in general though. I don't see it as proving he's bi/pan and attracted to everyone he flirts with, it's just part of his personality. To be clear I'm not saying he's straight, just that his flirting with fanboys or other guys isn't a definitive proof. I already knew all that about Taehyun. For the Johnny and Taeil stuff, I agree with @rotis that they're just joking. Ten and Johnny in particular are often really unserious (both as individuals and together). Johnny seems comfortable enough in his sexuality that Ten probably felt like he could play around with him like that. Edit : To clarify what I mean about the vague "men or women/not just opposite sex" stuff is that I'm looking at context before words and I'm cautious of how idols answer ideal types or relationships questions that are so obviously meant for fanservice. I mean, why would people even care to know about an idol's ideal type if there weren't some delusional feelings involved ? (personally I don't give a damn about my biases' ideal types). Obviously neither Korean fans nor the public see statements like Chanyeol's as a proof an idol isn't straight since plenty of idols have been answering similarly so far and got no backlash or nasty comments. I'm not going to suddenly believe a guy like Bobby is a bisexual king for answering with neutral pronouns an ideal type question when him and some other Ikon members were literally mocking the process of a queer person coming out to their parents in a conservative society just a few years ago13 points

exactly. even the eyebrow shape is exactly the same?? if this isn't karina: then so can't be any of these (which are all her obviously but also the girl in the top two pics) i get that she doesn't look her best in those two pics and it is annoying that ppl keep using her most unflattering pics to tear her down online... but that doesn't make the photos be someone else?12 points

I probably had too much of free time but i made queer Namjoon chart similar to @Leonard07741959 posted I looked carefully for everything, but I could still forget something And nothing serious but after the story with girls like girls by Hayley Kiyoko he posted a palm with a rainbow! :')12 points

I mean in SVT the only ones who are speculated to haven't touched their nose are Mingyu, Woozi and Vernon, no? That's like 10 out of 13 having something done to their nose, which is a majority of the group. And they all touch their face one way or another anw... Well the whole industry is. It's sad but it is what it is - a lookism industry within a lookism country. Imo SVT and many idols around their age are starting to feel the effect of aging and their unhealthy lifestyle on their face, and are trying to "correct" them via surgeries or fillers/botox. I just hope that they go lightly with those things, no one looks good with too much work done on their face. But I guess it's hard to unlearn all the toxic things that were beaten into your head since you were a kid... It's funny, I think idols are really sincere when they tell fans to eat a lot and love yourself and stuffs like that, but they can't actually bring themselves to do so because of how toxic the industry they work in is.12 points

I could be mistaken but i don't think its the first time he's said stuff like that, and this could still easily pass for fanservice so i think he'll be fine lol.12 points

my fear is never finding a community like this on anay platform again like nowadays no one is mature enough online to have mature convos without getting butthurt about people talking about their fav's tripled in size lips like no but fr. everyone here can talk about procedures from such a neutral and unbiased POV and im gonna be honest, i have a fear of losing a community with such like-minded people11 points

I think a discord is the best idea for now (unless someone here knows how to make a forum). Redditors are very hostile towards any gay speculation about idols, even in the supposed "uncensored" subreddit so it wouldn't be a good idea to go there. Any subreddit made for this would just get brigaded by trolls.11 points

We should have an ultimate Onehallyu memories thread where we can reminisce on all the good times, and the funny moments, from users fighting with one another, to really iconic threads. It'll be a fun way to go out. We can also have something similar to a senior quotes in a yearbook thread where we can all have quotes we want to be remembered by or we can have a thread posting our final farewells to the website.11 points

As a very long time Seungkwan stan it's really evident he's very insecure about his looks, since he was a trainee. Pledis instilled some just god awful restrictive eating habits in him that he clearly really struggles with to this day very blatantly and its so fucking depressing. It's clear he's naturally a little on the heavier side (by kpop standards– by general healthiness standards the natural weight he gravitates to seems perfectly healthy) and he has developed a pretty blatant eating disorder that he and the other members talk about fairly regularly and take extremely lightly, and as someone with a similar disorder it's just awful to see every time. I'm not really surprised this has progressed to plastic surgery especially since Seventeen on the whole have recently been getting a ton of work done and Hybe's definitely got some complex about noses.11 points

Made and NCT List of what I think the members sexualities are atm with some explantions as to why (albeit not very in depth) because I got bored (Members like Yuta, Xiaojun, Renjun, Jeno, and Jaemin I have pretty flexible opinions, so dont get too mad if you dont agree)11 points

Those who’ve been on this thread since Dec 2020 and watched me lose my damn mind knows what this does/means to me This is like the most Taeyong-ish way to accidentally come-out, he’s sooo …dreamily references three men (who also happen to be his group members) and then goes “oh wait not a man” alajakagsgsfa I hope he’s ok mentally after possibly accidentally outing himself. He’s quite literally the sweetest most endearing adult on earth, I would go to war for him11 points

i dont know. it seems to me they are mostly joking around than other thing and usually it's the straight ones that do such things with their friends, not the queer ones. i admit that their 1st flirty interaction posted here was a bit sus to me but now seeing this constant back and forth PUBLICLY it seems nothing but fanservice. Like not much different from what 2 idols from the same group do if they wanted to flirt they would most likely doing in private not so much in public eyes11 points

The "receipts" for Taeil honestly seem like jokes rather than genuine attraction. Besides that there have been no other instances that have made me think hes LGBT. And for Johnny I think his relationship with Ten is just a one sided crush on Ten's part. I cant think of any other instance that has made me think Johnny is queer11 points

Not k-pop but ex-AKB48 member Okada Nana revealed they're non binary, and attracted to both men and women. I don't know if she's been discussed here but as an AKB fan I always thought she was likely to be a lesbian. And to no surprise, Nana revealed that while they were attracted to men when younger, that changed after joining AKB48 and they actually dated a woman in 2017. Edit: I forgot to add this for more context, but they're actually dating a man right now! p.s: I've used both they/them and she/her pronouns because japanese is a non gendered language and I have no idea how they'd prefer being addressed.10 points
