It's so sad that Onehallyu is closing down. The saddest thing to me isn't even losing our platform, because we can move to a new one and still have our silly discussions, but what about the almost 4 thousand pages of content? So much evidence and less known facts will get lost forever, and it was also useful to see the consensus on certain idols that we'd never be able to get anywhere else. I for one would never have known the dating rumours of 2nd gen idols and between actors outside of here. Is there any tech-savy user here who might know if it's possible to make a copy of this thread? I'd imagine not because of server costs and that kind of stuff, but who knows. As an active Reddit user, it's deeeefinitely a no, Discord is the better option any day. If anyone knows how to make those cute servers, please make one for us! I'm currently creating a forum with the free forum hoster that was shared above, I'll share soon when I finish organizing.13 points

so uhhh, since onehallyu is closing at the end of the year, will we be transitioning to another platform? i find that there's quite literally nowhere else we can have discussions like this. i remember a few years back someone linked an lgbt kpop discord server which had a few onehallyu users in although that server hasn't been active in about a year. i could link it here to revive it (i'm quite unfamiliar with discord server invite links and such so if anyone knows the best way to go about that that lemme know) or someone else could start a completely new one?12 points

Since OH is closing, any plans on transitioning to another platform? I've been lurking on this thread for years and it's been refreshing to see a place where idol PS can be discussed without any defensiveness.11 points

I think a discord is the best idea for now (unless someone here knows how to make a forum). Redditors are very hostile towards any gay speculation about idols, even in the supposed "uncensored" subreddit so it wouldn't be a good idea to go there. Any subreddit made for this would just get brigaded by trolls.8 points

Noooooo I'm heartbroken pls somebody start a discord or subreddit or something, I'd join.8 points

We should have an ultimate Onehallyu memories thread where we can reminisce on all the good times, and the funny moments, from users fighting with one another, to really iconic threads. It'll be a fun way to go out. We can also have something similar to a senior quotes in a yearbook thread where we can all have quotes we want to be remembered by or we can have a thread posting our final farewells to the website.8 points

There are ways to save all the data from this thread, but the thing is, it would take a lot of storage and each person would have to download the data individually to access it. That or the harder way to access the information would be to just open up each file individually and view it one by one on your browser. The way it’s saved in the database isn’t going to be in a forum style reader. Basically what I’m saying is, all information on the internet is stored and recorded on databases that anyone can access online and go through, but you would need a database reader and then a zipfile reader to open up the information, and a thread like this would easily take up some storage space. I also don’t know how tech savvy everyone is so that could also be an issue. As for the discord, even though I haven’t been active on this thread for a while I would be willing to make the discord just so I could pop in every once in a while, but I do agree accessing and reading things in a forum format is just easier. Lastly, I would think it would be funny if the last post on this thread was like “All your faves are gay” or like “Bye gays” lowkey want it to be like “Siwon is gay” lol Anyways, if you guys have any questions on how to save data from this thread you can ask me.7 points

Remember at the beginning of this year when SM Entertainment was having their internal war and Lee Sung Soo accused Lee Soo Man of delaying aespa’s comeback and wanting a song about planting trees? Well if not, that probably just means you’re sane, but for a brief refresher he pushed for key lyrics like these: Well, it’s been reported that aespa’s latest comeback with “Drama” is that song, and it took them this long to completely rework the lyrics and sound. “Drama” was confirmed to be the same song that former SM executive producer Lee Soo-man insisted on with the lyrics about “planting trees”. After the SM system change, both the melody and the lyrics have been reproduced completely. An official from the music industry told The Fact, “The mood of the song has completely changed as they changed the melody and rearranged to make it different from the original version, especially, the lyrics has been re-written”. Never forget what they took from us. “What U wanna do what U gonna do It’s all gone and I am back to be or not to be / Gotta get some new gotta get some new Start Paradigm Everything is Sustainability / Wind sunlight water Wind wind sunlight water Planting another tree with what we already have / Don’t forget to raise and see further with the word ‘co-prosperity’ This is the last call so what about” (Original lyrics of the chorus) I don’t care what they said about changing the sound, now I’m imagining some girl crush song about planting trees and it’s a camp classic. “I plant tree-e-e-e-e-ees!” Bars. I logged in for the first time in almost 3 years (spot the professional lurker). I do agree with the others that Reddit is a no-go, and the better options are another forum or a Discord server. Kpopsource is an active forum, but I don't know how well this type of thread will be received. There's also the option to make a Dreamwidth community, but not many people are on Dreamwidth. In the meantime, enjoy Vernon's, and I quote, 'gay ass music taste.' And his gay gromlins shirt by Charles Jeffrey Loverboy, a gay designer. I see you, boy, I see you.7 points

I have a mixed bag of feelings while reading the topic. While I don’t feel surprised, I still cannot help but feel disappointed that this was the decision that was ultimately chosen. It might be overly simplistic to say that the time spent that I spent on this website became only “memories”, when realistically the time I had spent here was also, and had actually become part of my life. At the same time, I do think the decision was probably for the best; and I think it’s also one of the most conclusive decisions that I’ve observed being taken around here. I have met some of the nicest and coolest people; but I have also observed, and conversed with some users, with whom I regret. I will be sad to see it all go.7 points

Really sad to see OH go. I've made heaps of friends like you guys and @kyulkyung I've been posting on both OH and H+ (hallyuplus) and I love for you guys to come over there and engage with my threads too so I hope to see you guys there!7 points

Sadly it felt like the inevitable end we'd meet on the past few years. As I could witness first hand the behind the scene repercussions of the server crash back in 2019, I'd really like to thank @craZee for the incredible work she's been putting in this website. Zee, It's incredible all you've done all these years and how you dealt with many crisis. The staff has been wonderful trying to pull everything back together, but I felt like you deserve a special mention. On my end, OH has been such a wonderful journey. I met many great people, sadly lost contact with almost everyone but that's on me, and quite honestly my years being staff here had their impact on my professional skills. Wishing you all the best and remember to take care of yourselves. Farewell!6 points

exactly. even the eyebrow shape is exactly the same?? if this isn't karina: then so can't be any of these (which are all her obviously but also the girl in the top two pics) i get that she doesn't look her best in those two pics and it is annoying that ppl keep using her most unflattering pics to tear her down online... but that doesn't make the photos be someone else?6 points

As someone who has been coming here for 8 years and been a member for almost 6 I am saddened. I had a lot of fun and met many good friends here. Memories for a lifetime. My love goes out to all who I have been in contact with here. Best wishes for the future of Kpop.5 points

Really sad to see it go as I hold many great memories here, but I will not be hypocrite and say I've been using regularly for the past 3 months (in opposite to what I intended to do creating that one thread). It's just life and we move on. Thank you for the wonderful memories and learnings onehallyu, I've met so many great people here5 points

Its sad to see onehallyu to go i had a lot of good times here but thank you for everything oh ❤5 points

hi i saw this linked in another thread but there's a onehallyu events discord server that already exists and i think due to onehallyu shutting down they've opened some sections resembling threads that exist here if you scroll down, one including "which male idols do you think are gay?" so we may be able to go here since it's already a onehallyu related community. here's the link4 points

Companies are going to have a field day when this thread, the lesbian thread and the plastic surgery threads close. This thread is literally how I discovered OneHallyu (When I was first getting into NCT and Ateez some members were pinging for me but there was no safe place to ask for opinions? And when I started googling stuff this thread came up). I’m going to be sad to see it go Something that has been on my mind that I wanted to ask before this closes: Do you think some companies intentionally mistreat their LGBT members worse than others? Some companies like KQ with Ateez and I feel like even SM to an extent seem to not care if a member is gay and won’t mistreat them more than other members. But, recently I have been looking at how IST has been treating Kevin (I know he isn’t the most popular member but he’s a main vocal who never gets lines, they go out of their way not to include him in jobs or OST’s with other vocal members, they give credit to other members for writing on songs but purposely go out of their way to never credit Kevin for his work) and I’ve been wondering for awhile if part of the reason IST seems to have beef with him is because he’s probably LGBT?4 points

NOOOOOOOOO I'll never forgive that great server crash of OH for effectively killing this place. I hate that forums are dying out more and more, I by far prefer them to places like Twitter where it feels like you're screaming into a void unless you have a large following. Hul, I had so many memories being on OH, getting up at 2 AM for streaming the year end shows or comebacks when the release times changed. Or the months long wars over badges, campaigning and shizz. Well, it's been fun, I'll miss it. Hallyu+ is really GG Hallyu so I never really found myself attached to there so I guess I will have to motivate myself to get K-POP news from Twitter.4 points

Would allkpop forums allow for this kind of discussion? Idk their rules that well but maybe it's an option. Personally i think it's much nicer and easier to keep up when you scroll on a forum than discord, that's why i'm not as enthusiastic about that option (and in my experience most smaller discords fall into fighting and cliques with time..................)4 points

My account may be new but I've lurked on and off here for years. I adore forum sites and it's sad to see yet another one go, but maintenance and server costs are an inevitable roadblock. Thank you for giving ample warning to archive bits and pieces of the site!4 points

going to miss this thread and the other ones...I hope someone finds a solution before the forum closes, reading here is my entertainment when I'm bored and since it's closing I'm going to post some evidences I've found about an actor3 points

I think the old allkpop forum (before they moved the server) had a similar thread to this one, actually. But it was like 5 pages long in comparison to thousands of pages here. I don't think this type of thread would be well received over there currently. There's way more trolls and bad faith posters than on OH and long-form discussions like we are used to are honestly pretty rare. I agree with others, I think making a discord or creating another forum is the best option, altough the second option is gonna be way more effort consuming. Reddit is definitely the worst place to go. Personally, I absolute despise reddit "culture" and the sub would 100% attract weird, toxic people pretty fast.3 points

There is also allkpop forums, the website migrated in 2021 and got some well needed upgrades so it's very functional atp. Though i haven't been active in so long there that i'm not sure if this type of thread would be well received (or allowed, but they have wild threads there so i'm not sure why not) or not. It is a niche enough userbase though, unlike reddit. Personally i think it's much nicer and easier to keep up when you scroll on a forum than discord, that's why i'm not as enthusiastic about that option (and in my experience most smaller discords fall into fighting and cliques with time..................)3 points

Thanks, Admin and Mods, for the great site and wonderful memories. Many years ago we had a bunch of hilarious "XXX's career is dead" threads on this site. It's sad (and abeit ironic/funny) that we finally have a similar thread for onehallyu.2 points

I’m deeply saddened to see this site go It’s the place that taught me about the K-pop world and helped me to navigate through it all and helped me to connect with my favs and discover them. It’s also the place where I’ve had an immense amount of fun and genuinely laughed myself breathless. I will dearly miss this site and wish this wasn’t the end2 points

I logged in the moment I saw OH will close. I wasn't active for long, but I've lurked here for 3 years now. I've been active online since 2010 and seeing forums disappear in favour of other platforms leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. I do understand the restrictions make keeping a forum alive and active difficult. Thank you for creating this site. It'll be missed.2 points

on different thread some people are thinking of creating a discord or something like that... so maybe for this one we could do one as well, it would be a pity not have a platform where we can talk about this....2 points

i hesitate with reddit as i feel like since it's such a huge, widely used site it'd be harder to moderate (people could probably just search up lgbt kpop or even just kpop and the subreddit would show up) and judgey people would be more likely to enter i feel? i don't know. maybe that's just me though2 points

Can someone make a reddit, specifically for this? One where we can migrate, idk if we could dl all this data lol it would have to be a fresh start.2 points

fr I love checking this thread for any tidbits of queerness from idols since I'm not really active on Twitter or anywhere else. If we want to do a discord we should probably just start a new one but I wish there was another forum-esque public site to migrate to : (2 points

I took that pic from here The girl in the upper right photo looks like the girl in the lower left photo. They have the same eyes, mouth, and proportions (eye spacing, nose width to mouth width ratio etc.) In any case, comparing the two pics in the lower half, it's obvious she did her chin and eyes at least. Still pretty in that high school pic. I'm curious now. I read people saying both Karina and SM denied it was her, but no source whatsoever.2 points

he literally had a nose that perfectly fit his face before i literally don't get it. like, this isn't even a case of getting rid of a big nose, i honestly don't think the new one has elevated his looks. it frustates me because what was the point honestly. it's just an operation for the sake of getting one, as a now 8th year old idol. kibum did the same thing, a decade into his career and boom he got a nose job. it just saddens me to see even older idols get rid of their features when they've managed to keep them for so long2 points
