I could be mistaken but i don't think its the first time he's said stuff like that, and this could still easily pass for fanservice so i think he'll be fine lol.10 points

Those who’ve been on this thread since Dec 2020 and watched me lose my damn mind knows what this does/means to me This is like the most Taeyong-ish way to accidentally come-out, he’s sooo …dreamily references three men (who also happen to be his group members) and then goes “oh wait not a man” alajakagsgsfa I hope he’s ok mentally after possibly accidentally outing himself. He’s quite literally the sweetest most endearing adult on earth, I would go to war for him6 points

This isn’t a direct response nor a rebuke so I’m not quoting. But as someone who used to be a Chanyeol stan like… 7 years ago, here are my thoughts: Right now I believe Chanyeol's straight. BUT I do think he could be bisexual. Definitely with a preference for women, but I can see him liking men. Just because he's so open minded. Maybe bicurious? But a lot of the stuff fans use as a receipt is reaching. This? As a League player, it doesn't really mean anything. For some years now we had this Pride event where they give you these icons, and if you use them you get the respective flag trail. However, South Korea is SO homophobic that in Korean server the Pride event isn’t a pride event, it’s called SPRING Event and these colors are to represent spring or something lmao. So it’s very possible that Chanyeol and Sehun weren’t aware of the connotation, even if they know the flags from somewhere else. This? When it’s pride month, the pride filter is like the first one in the list of filters so it most likely wasn't intentional. Even if it was intentional, it was also Sehun's live so if anything that would concur to the Sehun queer proofs. This was a thing pushed by Chanbaek shippers. If you watch the whole video you can see he’s not talking about Men x Men. He proceeds to say something along the lines of “Love is not only between a man and a woman. It can be between a mother and son, among friends", that kind of stuff. It astonishes me how many people think he's talking about being the top in sex??? (just see the quote tweets). It's about his position on League of Legends There's top, mid and bottom lane and he plays in top lane, that's it. The laugh could be because he knows there's a double implication in that sentence, or he could also be laughing at something completely unrelated. (P.S.: top lane has the highest concentration of straight men in this game, cough cough) Ok so the context here isn't really about how they act around women or dating, it was about pretending to be uninterested. The MC talks about how many people pretend to be uninterested when they like someone, and Chanyeol says that he doesn't really pretend and he's just straightforward. While this can suggest interest in men, to me it sounds a lot like "Not only in a romantic situation, but if I meet a guy I click with I'll be straightforward and ask to be closer". Tbh this is indeed interesting, so I suggest watching for yourselves and taking your own conclusions. 11:20 forwards. I looked for some proofs that he might like men that I remember seeing back in the day but unfortunately most of it has been buried and it'd take time to find it. Uhh, maybe this?3 points

The way you just ignored the last part of my answer... Really ? When I said myself multiple times that this thread is too focused on stereotypes and ignores male idols who don't fit them ? And there's a difference between the people who dismissed here some male idols only because they're traditionnally masculine (like RM or Minho or L from Infinite) and dismissing male idols who had het fuckboy scandals or dudebros who are trying to turn their image around after acting borderline homophobic. What context did they offer ? Most of that thread about Chanyeol was indeed him pandering to fans, especially to fanboys. Sorry if I'm not a gullible stan who will take everything those idols say as the gospel when they're doing their job. I guess now we'll also have to believe they're 100% genuine when they act lovey-dovey with their bandmates during concerts or that they aren't lying when they say they only love their fans and don't have the time to date or that they're actually singing live in music shows.3 points

[theqoo] ATTRAKT, ANNOUCES PARTING WAYS WITH 3 FIFTY FIFTY MEMBERS "TERMINATED THEIR EXCLUSIVE CONTRACTS" ATRAKT has announced their separation from Fifty Fifty. On the 23rd, ATTRAKT announced, "We have notified the remaining three members of our girl group Fifty Fifty, Sena (Jung Se-hyun), Sio (Jung Ji-ho), and Aran (Jung Eun-ah), excluding Keena (Song Ja-kyung), of the termination of their exclusive contracts as of October 19th." A representative from the agency said, "We have taken action against the three members of Fifty Fifty for their lack of any correction or remorse for their gross breaches of contract," and added, "We will discuss next course of action with the members in the future." original post: here 1. Just add 3 new members and promote Fifty Fifty 2. Can they just add 3 members from their audition program and continue to use the name Fifty Fifty? 3. CEO-nim, fighting!! I hope he wins compensation money for all the damage 4. They should be receiving compensation for the breach of contractㅠ 5. If they terminate their contracts, shouldn't they be receiving damage compensation? Didn't these 3 members wanted their contracts to be terminated anyways? 6. Life is all about timing and grabbing the opportunity when it presents. Farewell to all of you, bye bye 7. I hope that Keena succeeds 8. But isn't this basically giving them what they originally wanted??? 9. Good, it all ends here 10. Let's have Fifty Fifty as a one member group with Keena alone https://www.pannchoa.com/2023/10/theqoo-attrakt-annouces-parting-ways.html2 points

turns out the ring he wore in paris was a matching one he got from a fan that said B H and he was just showing it off at the airport but no one noticed even though he was so determined lmao there's so many couple items that they get gifted that it kind of seems pointless to note it all but this was a bit wild ngl2 points

I believe that BoA is bi but these particular messages aren't evidence of anything since this is just Jessi insulting her (for context: these messages are from '05 when people were still throwing around the word gay as an insult).2 points

The funny thing is that his old nose already fit beauty standards. SM plastic surgery style in 4th gen is obsessed with tall and pointy noses (See Winter, Giselle, and now Wonbin and Anton.)2 points
-
God, it only proves how unnecessary his nose job was. Like, the eye and chin work is a given in K-pop at this point, but his nose implant is just so not it. A simple alarplasty would have given them the same effect That is crazyyy Also, absolutely off topic: so many of his old IG stories and posts are being shared online, and it really rubs me the wrong way to see so many screenshots of idols' old social media accounts. Like, why are you screenshotting every move of your classmate, just in case they become famous? And then you're keeping it for years to upload it later and not benefit from it whatsoever2 points

Sorry but I think you take their words too literally. I don't take idols' "ideal types" answers seriously when they're only about the opposite sex and frankly I don't take them seriously that much either when they say extremely vague things with "not just for women/men" or "regardless of gender" because idols usually try to appeal to the most people (= fans) possible. That's part of their marketing. But I guess that's just me... Anyway, I've read that thread and I still maintain my opinion on Chanyeol that he acts like a typical open-minded straight guy. Yeonjun is just a huge flirt in general though. I don't see it as proving he's bi/pan and attracted to everyone he flirts with, it's just part of his personality. To be clear I'm not saying he's straight, just that his flirting with fanboys or other guys isn't a definitive proof. I already knew all that about Taehyun. For the Johnny and Taeil stuff, I agree with @rotis that they're just joking. Ten and Johnny in particular are often really unserious (both as individuals and together). Johnny seems comfortable enough in his sexuality that Ten probably felt like he could play around with him like that. Edit : To clarify what I mean about the vague "men or women/not just opposite sex" stuff is that I'm looking at context before words and I'm cautious of how idols answer ideal types or relationships questions that are so obviously meant for fanservice. I mean, why would people even care to know about an idol's ideal type if there weren't some delusional feelings involved ? (personally I don't give a damn about my biases' ideal types). Obviously neither Korean fans nor the public see statements like Chanyeol's as a proof an idol isn't straight since plenty of idols have been answering similarly so far and got no backlash or nasty comments. I'm not going to suddenly believe a guy like Bobby is a bisexual king for answering with neutral pronouns an ideal type question when him and some other Ikon members were literally mocking the process of a queer person coming out to their parents in a conservative society just a few years ago2 points

he better sue their stupid and lazy asses off if he let them go away that easily they will not learn anything from it. they will most likely do the same sh*t in their next job, which we all know that will not be in the entertainment industry bc no company will be stupid enough to sign with them after all this1 point

It looked so genuine, then in the end he noticed what he Said and tried to correct It lol I still think the same about taeyong and jaehyun... Jaehyun seems totally more confortable with his attraction to Men, is like he has already accepted that he's attracted to guys and embraced It, but taeyong in the other hand still have not totally accepted It1 point

interestingly enough, anton is also a former koz (hybe) trainee so he might've gotten it done while under there which would make sense considering it looks like the slope a lot of their idols have gotten (i don't know about wonbin though)1 point

What exactly do you expect people to focus on when trying to determine if someone might identify as LGBT? People share their public contexts(their context was their chain of tweets, whether you agree with them or not), whether they're engaging in fan service or not, in an attempt to gauge their potential orientation because, ultimately, that's the extent of information available, leading to assumptions. Similar to how you're assuming it's all or some part of the idol culture, believing or disbelieving that is entirely your choice. So, why do you think we're here in the first place? The entire purpose is to make assumptions, and stereotypes play a role in that because they form part of the limited information we have, primarily based on how individuals present themselves. If you want to believe that almost everything is carefully calculated and debunk someone's assumptions, that's fine. However, I must inquire once again, what's the objective of this thread? Also this thread isn't going to affect a change of the entirety of the kpop fandom, we don't have that much power lol Edit: I'd like to emphasize, for the sake of simplicity, that there is no definitive right or wrong answer in this matter. Both of you are essentially making assumptions driven by your own perspectives. The other person holds their position due to their specific context, while you don't align with it because you prefer not to be seen as "gullible." Once more, it's important to stress that there's no clear-cut right or wrong answer in this situation, as it all ultimately hinges on what? Assumptions.1 point

I'm sorry but the irony of calling someone an > LGBTQ+ artist < and then dropping the "rumoured to be bi" in the next sentence I can't Some kpop fans are so stuck in this bubble they've lost touch with reality. He probs is queer, I thought so since he had drag queens in his mv a few years back, but rumours and ~vibes~ doesn't make someone an LGBTQ+ artist omfg listen to Ethel Cain or smth1 point

Isn't he referring to the people who were claiming he's pro-israel? And how he can't express much political views as an idol? Not that the industry isn't also hush hush about queerness but not sure this one really belongs in this thread.1 point

I never said there aren’t real moments. But it’s very naive to say one would never do fanservice because they would. That’s part of their job as an idol is do fanservice for fans.1 point

Just a reminder that idols do fan service. Saying they wouldn’t do that is very naive. Almost every entertainment industry does fan service. Pro Wrestling, western pop, actors.1 point

Idk I mean Minsung has gotten so popular it's practically 4th gen's Yunjae. They ranked crazy high on ao3's ship stats this year which kpop usually doesn't even crack and that's primarily just western and china fans that use ao3 heavily, not even including domestic fans and their japanese fanbase who from what I've seen are also big on Minsung. Idols aren't unaware that fanservice and shipping is part of their job and that leaning into it makes fans happy and is probably considered good by their companies. To say they'd never do fanservice even if they were an actual couple seems a bit naive. I think these crazy big ships are really hard to analyze one way or the other when they're in their peak because the idols and companies have so much incentive to feed into it. Minsung do have some interesting moments especially earlier in their careers (that one of them play fighting or whatever with abrupt cuts on a couch definitely comes to mind lmao) but a lot of it that I've seen especially recently just kind of feels like close friends who like to jokingly flirt with each other, and if those friends also have a career incentive to flirt with each other, it's easy to see how it can get normalized and prevalent. Minho does ping me and I personally wouldn't be that surprised if Jisung was queer in some way but idk I'm always going to be skeptical of any of these mega huge ships holding water. Too much incentive to feed the fans and on the flip side, probably really scary and stressful for the idols to get caught if it was real which would probably encourage them to stop interacting so much.1 point
