Sorry but I think you take their words too literally. I don't take idols' "ideal types" answers seriously when they're only about the opposite sex and frankly I don't take them seriously that much either when they say extremely vague things with "not just for women/men" or "regardless of gender" because idols usually try to appeal to the most people (= fans) possible. That's part of their marketing. But I guess that's just me... Anyway, I've read that thread and I still maintain my opinion on Chanyeol that he acts like a typical open-minded straight guy. Yeonjun is just a huge flirt in general though. I don't see it as proving he's bi/pan and attracted to everyone he flirts with, it's just part of his personality. To be clear I'm not saying he's straight, just that his flirting with fanboys or other guys isn't a definitive proof. I already knew all that about Taehyun. For the Johnny and Taeil stuff, I agree with @rotis that they're just joking. Ten and Johnny in particular are often really unserious (both as individuals and together). Johnny seems comfortable enough in his sexuality that Ten probably felt like he could play around with him like that. Edit : To clarify what I mean about the vague "men or women/not just opposite sex" stuff is that I'm looking at context before words and I'm cautious of how idols answer ideal types or relationships questions that are so obviously meant for fanservice. I mean, why would people even care to know about an idol's ideal type if there weren't some delusional feelings involved ? (personally I don't give a damn about my biases' ideal types). Obviously neither Korean fans nor the public see statements like Chanyeol's as a proof an idol isn't straight since plenty of idols have been answering similarly so far and got no backlash or nasty comments. I'm not going to suddenly believe a guy like Bobby is a bisexual king for answering with neutral pronouns an ideal type question when him and some other Ikon members were literally mocking the process of a queer person coming out to their parents in a conservative society just a few years ago9 points

Because he doesn't conform to the gay stereotypes. I find it difficult to grasp some of the posts at times. We may not always reach a consensus on identifying someone's sexual orientation, given that our only reference points are public information and how individuals present themselves. It essentially boils down to making assumptions. The individual above did offer some context to support their belief about the person's potential LGBTQ+ status, but another person dismissed it as mere nonsense and dismissed it as pandering to fans and adhering to the usual 'idol ecosystem.' It's almost like a recurring cycle of similar opinions all the time lol7 points

The "receipts" for Taeil honestly seem like jokes rather than genuine attraction. Besides that there have been no other instances that have made me think hes LGBT. And for Johnny I think his relationship with Ten is just a one sided crush on Ten's part. I cant think of any other instance that has made me think Johnny is queer6 points

So, we can all agree that Soobin is the Jessica Jung of 4th gen? Jessica brought out the lesbians like CRAZY. It was so common that whenever you searched her name in Naver, you'd see, "I like Jessica Jung, but I'm a girl." Same thing with Krystal. Like the Jung sisters, Soobin attracts men like flies. Queer men especially. It should be seen as a sign when a male idol professes his love for Soobin. Ex: SVT M1ngyu and Seugkwan5 points

I really don't understand why there are still people who think Chanyeol isn't straight. Like his ships are all dead at this point so it can't be shippers and he just looks and acts like a typical straight guy. For TXT, I always go back and forth with them but I think they're straighter than most MOAs believe aside from Soobin. I can't forget those rumors from March/April. And for NCT sorry but there's no way that Renjun and Jaemin are straighter than Johnny and Taeil. Johnny and Taeil are literally the two with Mahae that keep 127 from being full NCT MLM lol.4 points

This isn’t a direct response nor a rebuke so I’m not quoting. But as someone who used to be a Chanyeol stan like… 7 years ago, here are my thoughts: Right now I believe Chanyeol's straight. BUT I do think he could be bisexual. Definitely with a preference for women, but I can see him liking men. Just because he's so open minded. Maybe bicurious? But a lot of the stuff fans use as a receipt is reaching. This? As a League player, it doesn't really mean anything. For some years now we had this Pride event where they give you these icons, and if you use them you get the respective flag trail. However, South Korea is SO homophobic that in Korean server the Pride event isn’t a pride event, it’s called SPRING Event and these colors are to represent spring or something lmao. So it’s very possible that Chanyeol and Sehun weren’t aware of the connotation, even if they know the flags from somewhere else. This? When it’s pride month, the pride filter is like the first one in the list of filters so it most likely wasn't intentional. Even if it was intentional, it was also Sehun's live so if anything that would concur to the Sehun queer proofs. This was a thing pushed by Chanbaek shippers. If you watch the whole video you can see he’s not talking about Men x Men. He proceeds to say something along the lines of “Love is not only between a man and a woman. It can be between a mother and son, among friends", that kind of stuff. It astonishes me how many people think he's talking about being the top in sex??? (just see the quote tweets). It's about his position on League of Legends There's top, mid and bottom lane and he plays in top lane, that's it. The laugh could be because he knows there's a double implication in that sentence, or he could also be laughing at something completely unrelated. (P.S.: top lane has the highest concentration of straight men in this game, cough cough) Ok so the context here isn't really about how they act around women or dating, it was about pretending to be uninterested. The MC talks about how many people pretend to be uninterested when they like someone, and Chanyeol says that he doesn't really pretend and he's just straightforward. While this can suggest interest in men, to me it sounds a lot like "Not only in a romantic situation, but if I meet a guy I click with I'll be straightforward and ask to be closer". Tbh this is indeed interesting, so I suggest watching for yourselves and taking your own conclusions. 11:20 forwards. I looked for some proofs that he might like men that I remember seeing back in the day but unfortunately most of it has been buried and it'd take time to find it. Uhh, maybe this?3 points

The way you just ignored the last part of my answer... Really ? When I said myself multiple times that this thread is too focused on stereotypes and ignores male idols who don't fit them ? And there's a difference between the people who dismissed here some male idols only because they're traditionnally masculine (like RM or Minho or L from Infinite) and dismissing male idols who had het fuckboy scandals or dudebros who are trying to turn their image around after acting borderline homophobic. What context did they offer ? Most of that thread about Chanyeol was indeed him pandering to fans, especially to fanboys. Sorry if I'm not a gullible stan who will take everything those idols say as the gospel when they're doing their job. I guess now we'll also have to believe they're 100% genuine when they act lovey-dovey with their bandmates during concerts or that they aren't lying when they say they only love their fans and don't have the time to date or that they're actually singing live in music shows.3 points

i dont know. it seems to me they are mostly joking around than other thing and usually it's the straight ones that do such things with their friends, not the queer ones. i admit that their 1st flirty interaction posted here was a bit sus to me but now seeing this constant back and forth PUBLICLY it seems nothing but fanservice. Like not much different from what 2 idols from the same group do if they wanted to flirt they would most likely doing in private not so much in public eyes2 points

God, it only proves how unnecessary his nose job was. Like, the eye and chin work is a given in K-pop at this point, but his nose implant is just so not it. A simple alarplasty would have given them the same effect That is crazyyy Also, absolutely off topic: so many of his old IG stories and posts are being shared online, and it really rubs me the wrong way to see so many screenshots of idols' old social media accounts. Like, why are you screenshotting every move of your classmate, just in case they become famous? And then you're keeping it for years to upload it later and not benefit from it whatsoever2 points

I think you’re underestimating how nosy your average people are lol Topics like romance and sex attract attention. I know for myself if any news of idols dating comes out I am interested to know more, even if I don’t know or care about the idol. I don’t think this is world breaking news either. Like it’s well known that people are interested in these things which is why either topic can be found so much in all kinds of media. I don’t think you’re necessary wrong but your opinion feels too absolute to me, theres more than one side to it.2 points

I wrote chanyeol as bi based on things that he has already Said himself ( It has nothing to do with shipps ) There are also very interesting things in this thread About txt... Yeonjun and taehyun were the big doubt for me, but yeonjun has flirted with other men outside of the group and It felt very genuine I thought taehyun was straight until a few days ago, but someone posted here in the thread a video that namjoon exposed that he had many jungkook pictures saved on his phone he cried when he listened to troye sivan's blue neighborhood ( and honestly, he gives me queer vibes ) about nct... I decided to put Johnny and taeil as bi because i strongly suspect that Johnny had something going on with ten in the early NCT days... Like ten writing " i wanna have xxx with you" on his birthday... You need to have some intimacy with someone to write something like this lol i wouldn't write this for someone that i Just have a crush on And about taeil...2 points

I'm sorry but the irony of calling someone an > LGBTQ+ artist < and then dropping the "rumoured to be bi" in the next sentence I can't Some kpop fans are so stuck in this bubble they've lost touch with reality. He probs is queer, I thought so since he had drag queens in his mv a few years back, but rumours and ~vibes~ doesn't make someone an LGBTQ+ artist omfg listen to Ethel Cain or smth2 points

that's how i would describe i told sunset about you, which zhang hao has also supposedly watched! and he might have watched semantic error too which is just our run of the mill BL (and i love it too) but it's nice to see it anyway1 point

your name engraved herein isn’t BL, or rather, beyond BL. it sits on the queer media table. that kind of sounds like the same thing but it’s quite different.. it might even be more of an alert (?) [idk how to phrase..] that he watched that movie than any other because actually some lgbtq+ ppl prefer realistic portrayals of gay stories, which this movie is actually based on a true story as well, apparently that’s another debate because it’s a personal thing. some ppl would rather watch realism whilst others had enough of real life and want to switch off their minds so yeah that movie is not the typical, cute fantasy. it covers lgbtq+ from a societal angle. tbh, even these days in BL, there’s some that sprinkle social awareness like not me the series however, that movie is heavy hearted..1 point

In the beginning, I also thought that Seungkwan's mannerisms might simply have been influenced by his surroundings when he was growing up, as you said he grew up in a predominantly female family. But the more I watched him and followed Seventeen, the more I became convinced that he was part of the lgbt. As I said in my previous comment about Mingyu, it's not only mannerisms that makes him sus, but also the way he interacts with other people. My summary of Seventeen members: 100% Straight: Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Dino Probably straight and big allies: Vernon, The8, Hoshi Probably lgbt: Jun, Seungkwan, Mingyu Honestly no idea: Jeonghan, Joshua, Scoups 95 line is the most confusing imo. Even though Jeonghan seems to be like your average het, he still pings me. I know most people here think he is one of the most het members in seventeen, but to me he can be anything, same with Scoups and Joshua Ty for the post, it's always nice to read different opinions1 point

Honestly, I can understand why even straight idols and celebrities would enjoy going to gay clubs and bars. If anyone knows the value of privacy, it's LGBT people, and privacy is most likely just what these celebrities and idols need while having fun. Paparazzi,. stalkers and very '' energetic '' opposite sex fans would also be more or less out of the picture, as none of them would want to be potentially seen going to gay spaces.1 point
