  2. What's suspicious about what Sehun said? Isn't "I usually act like I don't feel anything" more like pretending that he doesn't feel anything rather than truly not feeling anything for the opposite sex? He is kinda known for not demonstrating his feelings. Btw I think he's bisexual.

  5. I mean if the fans know and remember it than it's not like super obscure information and therefore can be used as fanservice. It's not really anymore effort than remembering a zodiac sign or MBTI of someone you know, also kpop lyrics love flower imagery.

  7. It seems the birth flower thingy is a part of korean culture. Other members like I.N and Hyunjin also have talked about it too. Like one time I.N asked Hyunjin to draw his birth flower for his custom in-ears and Hyunjin also gifted I.N a painting of his birth flower for his birthday. So yeah i don't think it's sus for Han to know and remember Lee Know's.

  8. Honestly... Minsung is Very Sus for me, and now even more after the lyrics from their new song, of course there's the possibility of It Being fanservice, but Han even mentions the cosmos flower in the song ( Lee know's birth month flower ) like... Who the hell would know or remember something like that and put it in a song Just for fanservice ???

  10. Just a reminder that idols do fan service. Saying they wouldn’t do that is very naive. Almost every entertainment industry does fan service. Pro Wrestling, western pop, actors.

  22. They need to have better laws against it and make it an actual crime with jail time, but everyone knows Korea's justice system sucks, and I get it you can't compare everyone's bullying experiences or tell victims how to feel but you can't make yourself a victim forever, it's unhealthy, everyone has to live their life, and this is coming from someone who was severely bullied. P.S I don't know what she did or who she is I'm just talking about the bullying situation and general

  24. I agree! Based on the Korean articles I read soojin lost the lawsuit, and the courts dismissed soojin’s counter lawsuit since they ruled the other party was not lying about the bullying so I’m confused why people are still debating things? Whether or not the actress was lying about being bullied by soojin doesn’t erase the fact that soojin bullied other people as well and was found guilty. Harassing the actress doesn’t erase the fact that soojin did a bad thing. I’m sure soojin will do decent internationally, but I’m wondering how she will do in Korea with her debut? I’m guessing she’s probably going to get blacklisted from preforming on shows due to the scandal?

  25. Probably still would honestly, even if they fired her, or agreed to let her go, if she has solo success the story would be "Jini, who JYP failed with, succeeds!" and he looks bad. Given he's a massive narcissist even by K-pop CEO standards, he's never letting that happen if he can avoid it.

  27. your name engraved herein isn’t BL, or rather, beyond BL. it sits on the queer media table. that kind of sounds like the same thing but it’s quite different.. it might even be more of an alert (?) [idk how to phrase..] that he watched that movie than any other because actually some lgbtq+ ppl prefer realistic portrayals of gay stories, which this movie is actually based on a true story as well, apparently that’s another debate because it’s a personal thing. some ppl would rather watch realism whilst others had enough of real life and want to switch off their minds so yeah that movie is not the typical, cute fantasy. it covers lgbtq+ from a societal angle. tbh, even these days in BL, there’s some that sprinkle social awareness like not me the series however, that movie is heavy hearted..

  31. You are right. That might be one of the reasons. I honestly don't know what plastic surgery, fillers, etc. does to someone's face in the long run but I feel sad for the kid. She is beautiful but feeling a need to keep doing something to your face must have ruined her mentally at some point

  34. About Sana, it's not just that she was flirting with this guy, she also emphasized that her ideal type are manly men and talked about how she was happy to finally show her real self. Implying that all those years of flirting with women were her playing a character. Anyway, I kind of always had the feeling she was just a straight girl using queer fangirls to her benefit and I don't even blame her for that tbh, competition is fierce in the industry. And while I agree that queerbaiting as a concept can't be applied to real people, it's very much a fact that certain idols do a lot more fanservice than the norm. And by that, I mean suggestive fanservice with their bandmates or their fans of the same-sex that most of the other idols don't do. I don't think LGBT fans should be vilified for feeling disappointed over those idols being so vastly different from their personas and unstanning them. After all Sana isn't going to lose sleep over sapphic fangirls dropping her.

  35. An unpopular opinion of mine is that there is nothing like queerbaiting where kpop idols or k celebrities are involved. We do not know their sexuality truly so accusing them of queerbaiting is just off the table. Especially when the general public or k netizens or homophobic fans exist. I remember when heartstopper twt literally forced one of the main characters to come out because he was accused of "queerbaiting". Being an idol is a job and in this economy and capitalist society, not many people would appreciate losing their jobs because of their sexuality. I also don't think fans should be accusing an actual human being of being a queerbait(er?) regardless.

  36. Yes... and also idols in general can not have any interaction with someone of the oposite sex without their fandoms getting WILD lol This also applies to female idols... Today a video of sana flirting with a man started to go viral on twitter ( some fans are very extreme lol ) and they were losing their minds "i thought sana was a lesbian, she's a queerbaitor" and all this stuff, they didn't even considered the possibility of her being bi lol

  37. For Ten, Tumblr OP mentioned how New Heroes seems to have some possible LGBTQ+ undertones. It doesn't seem far fetched since a lot of queers vibe well with the song. It was among most requested during 2018 SK pride parade: Tumblr quote: I just remembered how Ten said he loved the lyrics in New Heroes multiple times in an interview and a fansign. Meanwhile, for Paint Me Naked and Birthday which lyrics include "girl~" and "I wanna be in so deep, baby", he tried to steer fans away from taking them too literally. Ten about New Heroes lyrics: About PMN: About Birthday, he seemed like trying to convey that he's detached from the literal meanings of the lyrics, which is straight up about 2 people having sex. He insists the sensual lyrics is not him talking to someone else but only to himself.

  38. Since marriage has been mentioned…. I know sometimes it comes up that an idol or celeb mentioning they want to marry is a sign they aren’t gay, since obviously same sex marriage isn’t legal in Korea (or most countries). A few times in this thread people have said so-and-so idol really wants to get married, so it’s likely they aren’t gay. But I feel like it’s not enough to really say much for a couple reasons: 1. People may still hope & desire to get married despite not being able to. I remember when same-sex marriage wasn’t legal in California, but friends & family would ask me about getting married. I always said I wanted to…kind of hoping same-sex marriage would be legal at some point. I’m sure others feel similarly. 2. While marriage isn’t available legally, lots of same-sex couples do have symbolic marriages around the world. Having a small ceremony, exchanging rings, doing traditional ceremonies, etc. May not have any legal grounds but they’re still symbolically married, and that’s the most they can do at the moment. Now, external pressures like from parents can force someone to get married, and someone could marry the opposite sex and be bi, but I feel someone saying they want to get married doesn’t necessarily mean they aren’t gay either.

  39. What I mean is that while a lot of the time we dwell on idols who use colorful lighting [Like the Bisexual pink, blue and purple lights] in the background or they might wear shoes, clothes of rainbow colors but never anything conclusive comes out of it. We never know their intentions. Are they using these colors because they look pretty? Are they using them because they support or are part of the community? we will never know. However, Eunwoo's shirt is just out there in plain sight. There is no hint dropping going on here, like the way we seem to have with the rainbow colors.

  40. I also think Taeyong is Bisexual and not 100% gay like some people suggest. I could see Johnny as Bi but im pretty sure hes Straight personally. As for the blog I used to follow them when they were active a couple years back and looking back I find myself disagreeing with a lot of their takes. And when I do agree a lot of their reasonings are kinda goofy and reachable imo: "To put it simply, I feel like Mark has a bit of internalised homophobia. He’s given a Bible to Haechan for his birthday, which is honestly pretty weird in and of itself, but I felt like it could have went a little deeper than that… like it could have been a jab at Haechan’s sexuality. " Like????

  41. The 97liner group chat also included Minghao, Seokmin, Yugyeom, and Bamban originally yes, but imo I think it ended up as mostly just being the aforementioned trio these days because they have a common interest of clubbing that kept them spending time together while the others were less into it. I don't follow got7 but Minghao and Seokmin aren't really the clubbing types, and the China friend group is going strong and probably pulling Minghao closer to that. The Sunoo-Ichan-Sungmin-Hojin-Etc friend group reads different because frankly they're all pretty obviously fruity and there's nothing else about them linking them together explicitly like age or even having debuted around the same time. They could all have become friends for various reasons but from an outside perspective the only through-line with them is that literally all of them are widely assumed queer. From a carat perspective, I've never been able to get behind Mingyu being queer. I honestly think he's probably got some underlying homophobic tendencies even if he's not actively homophobic or even considers himself open-minded. Mingyu does a lot of "haha, I'm doing something not stereotypically masculine" jokes that come across as very straight, because queerness is always the inherent punchline. He clearly does like getting attention from men to a degree but he's also very blatantly got a pretty big ego and I think he just likes when anyone at all feeds into it.

  42. It's a really great drama overall, and still has some of the best representation of a same-sex relationship I've seen on TV. I'm still watching it, but by only episode 7 it already dealt with topics like Lavender Marriages, setting up on blind dates, hiding your sexuality, dealing with coming out, and family issues. I am convinced someone on the writing team must be LGBTQA+ since so many topics hit so close to home. I can see why so many people, internationally and Korean, keep praising them as a couple even over a decade afterwards. It's also nice to know that despite them being in every episode and being a thing since the beginning of the show, ratings didn't falter like I think many of us assume would. Ratings went up actually as they started getting more screentime. And both actors went to have great careers afterwards. I am a bit sad we haven't gotten much since then, but hopefully as time goes on. You can watch clips on DailyMotion, but only until episode 25 or so. The rest of the 63 episodes you have to watch on DramaCool or some site. Some spoilers in the clip below, but it's a nice quick rundown.

  43. I'm crying :))). This is a horror scenario. Btw, the kdrama seems well acted and the represantation is much better than what you get these days(Vicenzo, that one kdrama where the guys confess and then imedately die in a car crash LMAO), i might give it a try.

  44. I think this is certainly the case for many queer people around the world sadly, especially in countries without legal protections or marriage. I personally still haven't said anything to my parents, and likely won't until I'm certain I find someone I want to be with for a while. It does kind of suck though. Being closeted also makes it harder to event date or meet others, even with online dating. I know it's somewhat common for closeted people to avoid online dating even, for being worried about being found out. Though, logically, if your parents are on Grindr there may be other issues afloat lol. Though, many family members can figure things out with enough context clues. They may not say anything outright, but subtle things like changing their language from "I hope you find a good wife" to "I hope you find someone good to spend your life with" are small, but can be so meaningful. There's also the cultural aspect I think some people forget. Same-sex marriage may be legal in 30+ countries, but misconceptions and expectations take time and effort to fade. In my culture, the concept of arranged blind dates you see so often in KDramas is pretty common. Quite a few cultures are similar, in that every achievement is nice and all, but marriage to a good spouse is still the end goal. The only thing to do is to assert your desire to not be married yet or that you're still looking for the right person. Kind of funny timing, but I'm watching clips from the 2010 family Kdrama "Life is Beautiful" where a gay couple was a big part of the story, and their storyline deals with this exact issue. Parts of their story hit close to home, and it's a really touching portrayal of a same-sex couple on Korean TV.

  45. I don’t get how BTS is hated in this thread at all? It’s just a lot of the time people post about Jungkook or Jimin it’s almost always because they ship jikook and it’s really annoying. When people used to talk about Taehyung and post receipts for him everyone was all for it. When people posted receipts for Jhope not even that long ago people were agreeing. Jhope in my opinion has some of the most receipts in BTS but because he’s not shipped with a popular cute maknae line member he gets overlooked A LOT. in my opinion. I think jhope is a part of the LGBT community.
    1 point
  46. Yeah I personally don't think either that Jungkook is anything but straight, at best some kind of bi-curious. I also very much agree that it is in fact annoying when shippers bring up their ''proof'' as a real thing. I rather meant that a few times in the past when I tried to start serious conversations, for example, the whole Namjoon boyfriend thing, then some people were visibly upset at that and even complained on the threat about it. I do understand that most conversations about BTS have been rehashed at this point, though I am also interested in what other people might think or what receipts (what I didn't know of yet) they have.
