Not sure if Moonbin was queer. I do know one thing is that he was very supportive of the community. During the time that BL's were not famous among the mainstream kdramas like Semantic Error and no kpop idols would indulge in taking up a gay role, Moonbin did so. I didnt even know he was a kpop idol at that time. Only watched the drama. He played the role of a student who falls in love with the famous guy of the school. However, a girl in his class liked him and asks him out and he doesn't want to hurt her so he obliges and also not to mention all their friends kind of like encourage him to go out with her. He is scared of being outed so he dates her for a few weeks/months but has a crush on the famous guy of the class. He can't take it anymore because it feels like he's lying so he breaks up with her. She's upset and corners him into an empty room and asks him why he choose to break up and he tells her that he likes someone else and she instinctively thinks it's another girl but he tells her it's the famous boy (takes his name) and someone overhears this convo of theirs and leaks it into a group chat and everyone including famous boy finds out. Everyone in school next day is waiting for famous boy to react but he doesn't do anything. Doesn't treat him any differently just simply tells him that I really like you as friend and you helped me during tough times. I will always be there but please understand that I won't be able to reciprocate these feelings that you have for me. There was no hate, no aggression, no shaming. Just all round well received and portrayed acceptance. Moonbin also had a joke with SinB from Gfriend that if they don't find anyone by the end of their life they will just marry each other and he used to jokingly call her his girlfriend on stage. The openess to this banter without any kind of dating allegations and controversy made me think that he probably might be queer because if another kpop idol like Eunwoo or Bang Chan (someone who is perceived straight) would have this open joke with a female idol people would ship them or just think that they are in a relationship. I relate to this because I had a gay friend who said that if we didn't find anyone we would just marry each other. It's basically your gay friend flirting with you. You know that she don't really mean it.11 points

Suga - his verse in cypher pt 3 and other things that he has already Said Eunwoo ( the word that he uses here pmn "jamanchu" means to have a date with someone in a natural way ) and he specified both Men and women Jackson Wang ( 1:29:34 time stamp ) he talks about his ideal type in both girls and guys Felix has hinted at being bi in a fanmeeting before to fan and literally used the heart emojis with the bisexual colours in the First day of pride month in a Photo in the stray kids official Instagram account https://www.instagram.com/p/Cs6TnAShWOd/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== Minghao Bobby wonho ( If i recall ) has Said that gender is not important in a relationship for him + strong rumours that he dated one of his dancers, the Guy even allegedly liked a comment calling them boyfriends5 points

Another "hint" that Jackson might be bi... This is what he Said about his MV with singer rain I mean.... This is the only scene in the MV where It can have a meaning or the "detail" the he's referring to because the rest of the music video is Just he and rain dancing and walking around lol4 points

not entirely kpop related though it is related to a kpop company, lara, one of the most popular contestants on hybe's dream academy, is gay and while the tweet does say she'll be one of, if not the only because as far as i'm aware none have actually come out but rather they're glass closet cases, the few openly gay artists in hybe, i can't help but think she might have to be hush hush about this, like i don't know i just can't imagine someone under hybe openly and freely talking about being gay? it's something i've been wondering for a while actually, like ever since dream academy's lineup announced. the project is kind of kpop adjacent so would they be able to do things non-kpop artists are allowed to do freely (openly date, smoke without a care, speak up for political/social causes they care about without batting an eye etc), one of these being open about their sexuality? if anyone has any thoughts please share2 points

SNSD was 1) arguably the most popular girl group at the time and 2) at a certain point SM realized that they could do "girl crush" concept because male fans didn't need to be catered to (they would just gravitate towards beautiful women) and female fans are generally more loyal to the groups they stan. Around ~2013 SNSD suffered a transformation into that selling strategy and started to amass lots of female fans because of it. I think Taeyeon, Yoona, and Jessica had the most fangirls, but they are also the most popular lol. As for who had the most tea, it was Taeyeon and Yuri.2 points

I didn't know about this but yes I did see a few video of Millie being shipped with Noah before he came out. Now, even if we see Noah holding hands with a girl we'll be sure they're not dating. (unless he's questioning, it happens) I think Moonbin also had the same thing going on with SinB.1 point

If this is true, YG needs to call a time out and have 24/7 strategy meetings cause, they are circling the toilet bowl. I never imagined GD leaving YG. Somewhere in South Korean, the 2ne1 members are cackling while doing cartwheels.1 point

Way back in my University days I was a fencer, that sport where two people duel with swords and the like (epee, foil, and sabre; different weapons and rules for each). It's a pretty safe sport for a combat sport, the weapons are not sharp and the protective gear is heavy but .... sometimes, very rarely, the blunt tip can be broken off and you have a jagged metal spike on the end which will stab through all the gear you're wearing. This happened to me in a training match and I was stabbed in my right wrist which, as you may know, generates a frightening amount of blood. The gear being all white kind of emphasizes the amount of blood but it was a lot. The University was one block from Adelaide's main hospital at the time and, with just about everyone else freaking out, I walked out and waited at the traffic lights to cross to the hospital, my left hand holding the wound but still leaving a trail of blood. I made it over and into Emergency, eight stitches needed, and a legend born. Hence the opening line of my yet to be written autobiography, "It's surprising how people react when you're waiting to cross the street to the hospital with blood pouring out of your wrist."1 point

Japan has a bit more visible of a queer scene than Korea does and for sure has more out queer celebrities in general than Korea does which does a lot for normalizing that sort of thing. The various fashion subcultures in Harajuku have also allowed for a lot of less traditional gender expression to be normalized in big cities and especially Tokyo. I think queerness often gets conflates with fetish and kink to a degree that is much higher than any other culture I'm familiar with. I think the prevalence and portrayal of queerness in anime and manga has probably done a lot of good for moving the needle among younger generations but it's no secret that a lot of very mainstream anime portray trans people and other minorities in a very casually fetishistic way. Once you look past the younger generations and city dwellers though, Japan is still by and large extremely socially conservative. You are still hit with a lot of backlash and bullying for being "out" in Japan just like everywhere else. It's why Shinjiro Atae is getting so much attention, it really is not normalized anywhere close to how it is in the Americas and such. Ryuchell's recent death still makes me so angry and hopeless every time I think about it.1 point

i've heard about that. i think he was a member of a vietnamese boy group they have/had? but it could've just been said in a way to be malicious and insult-y. looked it up to jog my memory and he said 4/6 of oneus were gay while all of mamamoo are lesbians and while i think there are lgbt members in either group, it could be an exaggeration or him trying to brag about having connections and therefore gossiping. when thinking about it, i've viewed it in the same way as when jessi was basically messaging tiffany on myspace and said that boa is gay (every current kpop fans takes it as her outing boa but i thought it'd be fresh in everyone's memory that 'gay' was an extremely common insult in the 2000s - at least that's what it was like at my school, especially because she was literally insulting boa in the message) but it might be a slightly different situation now that i look at the specifics as he spoke about it like it was a fact rather than just using gay as a derogatory adjective/insult. on jungkook, as per usual there's a lot of debunking going on but i think it's him on the basis of him having a big sasaeng problem (a few months ago he had people ordering food for him via delivery and he was on weverse saying not to do that, i assume the food delivery is like confirmation that they have the right address, i wouldn't be surprised if there were people watching/filming outside his house) and also, what other man has that fuckass bob and that dog specifically? the focus should be on the invasion of his privacy, not "oh it couldn't possibly be him" but of course some people haven't learned from taehyung and jennie even though they made it messier than it should've been1 point

Really fucked up and terrifying. I bet it's from a sasaeng. Us regular Kpop fans tend to really underestimate how insane they are and how far they are able to go to satisfy their obsessions.1 point

An unpopular opinion of mine is that there is nothing like queerbaiting where kpop idols or k celebrities are involved. We do not know their sexuality truly so accusing them of queerbaiting is just off the table. Especially when the general public or k netizens or homophobic fans exist. I remember when heartstopper twt literally forced one of the main characters to come out because he was accused of "queerbaiting". Being an idol is a job and in this economy and capitalist society, not many people would appreciate losing their jobs because of their sexuality. I also don't think fans should be accusing an actual human being of being a queerbait(er?) regardless.1 point

I don’t think there’s a definitive answer. Troye Sivan was/is very popular in korea, blue neighbourhood in particular had a lot of success there and I believe there’s a lot of koreans that casually listen to his music without knowing that he is gay. There’s a lot of idols who like Troye, if they talk about his music videos or talk about him often I usually at least think they’re an ally. I do know several straight guys who enjoy Troye’s music. Of course listening/talking abt Troye could be an indicator that the idol is gay, or it could not be. The same thing goes with the whole bisexual lightning thing. Maybe they’re trying to hint at their sexuality, or they just chose a pretty colour combination (that is also very common). Listening to Troye or using bisexual lightning is usually not enough for me to draw any conclusions about an idol.1 point

I've noticed that most idol groups have characters assigned, specifically very much in the HYBE groups. The thing is: the characters sometimes change, as they have to follow what the general public deems the member. Jungkook kinda shifted from the cute young member to this total 'sex' icon almost? And I think they've chosen to go down the route of sharp, angular features to match the new idea of him they're trying to push. This might sound far-fetched, but I really believe idols to at least to an extent be actors and actresses. A member is lucky if their character suits their nature, but if not... An example of that could be Taehyung. As I remember, he used to be very cutesy, and to a certain degree feminine/flamboyant in his personality. Then he was assigned this cold-character, and to match the idea, he had to just... become a stone-face? The role of being cute but having duality is kinda Jimin's as well, and being the "handsomest" member of the group, Jin's. The thing which solidified my little thought-process theory thingy was how Enhypen seems to have replicated these characters, as they just work. The fans love them. Sunghoon's the new Jin w his "I'm the handsomest member!" – I distinctively remember him looking all embarrassed saying that, like it was some line he was supposed to act naturally saying (it sounds very... conceited imo). Niki used to be very very bubbly and feminine to an extent (his predebut videos and photos), but then he adopted the image of being cold. Just cold, and very stone-faced. He reminds me of Taehyung's switch of images. Sunoo got VERY lucky, as he was assigned the cutesy image, suiting him VERY well. It's kinda in his nature, as seen from his predebut photos and way of acting on I-land. All in all, this is just a theory – but I still very much believe the theory of everything being fabricated in the Kpop industry. (I do seem very "THIS IS FACTUAL!" in this comment, but I'm really don't mean that The theory has it's faults, I know that, but what do you think?)1 point

what is the recent uptick in veeners or vanity dental procedures in kpop? (or maybe just hybe) moka from illit just 'debuted', on the show she had very endearing, prominent front teeth that she even mentioned as one of her charming points but suddenly in their chuseok video they seem to different? whats even stranger was that this couldnt have been filmed more than one week after the final episode, i cant understand why theyd be such in rush to do this before: after:0 points
