Japan has a bit more visible of a queer scene than Korea does and for sure has more out queer celebrities in general than Korea does which does a lot for normalizing that sort of thing. The various fashion subcultures in Harajuku have also allowed for a lot of less traditional gender expression to be normalized in big cities and especially Tokyo. I think queerness often gets conflates with fetish and kink to a degree that is much higher than any other culture I'm familiar with. I think the prevalence and portrayal of queerness in anime and manga has probably done a lot of good for moving the needle among younger generations but it's no secret that a lot of very mainstream anime portray trans people and other minorities in a very casually fetishistic way. Once you look past the younger generations and city dwellers though, Japan is still by and large extremely socially conservative. You are still hit with a lot of backlash and bullying for being "out" in Japan just like everywhere else. It's why Shinjiro Atae is getting so much attention, it really is not normalized anywhere close to how it is in the Americas and such. Ryuchell's recent death still makes me so angry and hopeless every time I think about it.7 points

speaking of him, i also noticed that the recent MV from his bandmate, Nissy have lgbt couples on it (both FxF and MxM) Don't judge me, i have been pretty late seeing both kpop and jpop releases usually i am always a month late3 points

Another "hint" that Jackson might be bi... This is what he Said about his MV with singer rain I mean.... This is the only scene in the MV where It can have a meaning or the "detail" the he's referring to because the rest of the music video is Just he and rain dancing and walking around lol1 point

I agree with you lol. I think Pearl is by far the superior film and X is mostly worth it as a film that gives dimension to its prequel.1 point

Earlier people talked about idols doing fanservice, and while we may not know their sexuality some engage in it a lot more than others so some fans may misinterpret it. But, what idols do you all feel engage really heavily in fanservice, more than the average idol? I know Super Junior gets brought up a lot in that regard but outside of them.1 point

Oneus has given me very gay vibes, before the Soobin thing, Keeonhe had flown pretty under the radar, there are other member who seem much gayer. It’s crazy to me that anyone though Jungkook was anything other than straight. He is the only BTS member I’ve gotten zero queer vibes from. Super fucked up that someone’s just filming him in his apartment.1 point
-
Wasn't there a former RBW trainee who once said half of the Oneus members are gay ? Maybe he was bullshitting, maybe his words weren't far from the truth. At least it seems like there's a pattern with the male idols that Soobin befriends. Otherwise there are videos circulating right now on Weibo and Twitter showing Jungkook and his girlfriend at their apartment. I really hope this time Jikookers and Vkookers finally get the memo about their ships being nothing but delusions and stop haunting this thread.1 point

Idols that have hinted at being bi/pan with their own words: Suga Eunwoo Jackson Wang Felix Minghao Bobby from Ikon... Wonho Do you guys remember anyone else ?1 point

they're just doing fanservice on a level beyond the comprehension of our small human minds, no need to worry too much about it1 point

Keonhee went with Soobin to the KARA concert, which is Soobin’s fav girl group (I feel like stanning KARA is very gay in itself)1 point

Wait.... Did Jackson Wang implied that he's bi in this Interview ? He talked about his ideal type in girls, and then also included guys (according to the subtitles), 1:29:34 time stamp "About guys, i like...." https://youtu.be/1XdaEAHRKCI?si=qDqsu6Ku44H51czA1 point

correct me if i'm wrong but isn't this normal? judging from the gif her nose only moved when she pushed her upper lip out, mine does the same thing and i've never had any work done. she could have had something new done but i don't think her nose moving like this is an indicator of anything.1 point

About Sana, it's not just that she was flirting with this guy, she also emphasized that her ideal type are manly men and talked about how she was happy to finally show her real self. Implying that all those years of flirting with women were her playing a character. Anyway, I kind of always had the feeling she was just a straight girl using queer fangirls to her benefit and I don't even blame her for that tbh, competition is fierce in the industry. And while I agree that queerbaiting as a concept can't be applied to real people, it's very much a fact that certain idols do a lot more fanservice than the norm. And by that, I mean suggestive fanservice with their bandmates or their fans of the same-sex that most of the other idols don't do. I don't think LGBT fans should be vilified for feeling disappointed over those idols being so vastly different from their personas and unstanning them. After all Sana isn't going to lose sleep over sapphic fangirls dropping her.1 point
-
An unpopular opinion of mine is that there is nothing like queerbaiting where kpop idols or k celebrities are involved. We do not know their sexuality truly so accusing them of queerbaiting is just off the table. Especially when the general public or k netizens or homophobic fans exist. I remember when heartstopper twt literally forced one of the main characters to come out because he was accused of "queerbaiting". Being an idol is a job and in this economy and capitalist society, not many people would appreciate losing their jobs because of their sexuality. I also don't think fans should be accusing an actual human being of being a queerbait(er?) regardless.1 point

Regarding the 97 line, I feel that K-pop fans have created an image of them where they're these frat dude bros that sleep around with more women than they have fingers and toes. Eunw00, possibly being bi doesn't shock me. Like Jaehyun, he's an enigma. He is very strategic about what he wants to know about him. He and Jaehyun are both extremely private. Hell, I won't be shocked if M1ngyu has hooked up with men or may have an interest in them. K-pop fans think if a male idol isn't feminine they can't be lgbt lol.1 point

Usually I don't think much about idols with pride flags because they're thrown at the stage and they end up picking it up for a few secs but this... Ningning was the one to go for the flag and she seems to hesitate for a split second if she should really do it, it's very telling. She also had the right side up, could be a coincidence or luck but I used to think all Aespa members were straight but maybe not so much anymore... after the stuff with her model masc friend and now this. Didn't Ning also like the sapphic couple from that k-drama that got famous?1 point

I mean I think it's okay to assume that most of them are probably gonna be straight, but I really don't get Taehyung. He has shown so much interest in LGBT-coded art and music, including some pretty obscure things, like liking some gay photographers who are not super famous. He also seemed really at home in Paris hanging out with all those male models. I don't know if a 100% straight dude would be into this stuff. Jimin I have already commented on multiple times, he is very private and in some ways kind of like a Taemin 2.0 . He has not openly showed interest in LGBT-related media. But he has had some interesting reactions to certain men (which you have mentioned), plus he seems to be very in touch with his sensual side and he just gives off a queer vibe. Sometimes I do wonder tho, if he is just one of those very emotional, sensitive hopeless romantic straight guys. But until he reveals more, I would go with bi. I think the others are mostly straight. Maybe unpopular, but I don't see much with Yoongi, the ideal type interview thing is old and afaik no one can really confirm what he meant and I think his rap lyrics are just meant in a dissing way. He wore LGBT vans one time, but tbh there is not much more. I am open to him being bi/pan, but I am not fully convinced. Same with Namjoon, I think the discussion around him is interesting, but I'm still not convinced he has a boyfriend lol. I also feel like he appreciates art (whether lgbt themed or not) for its own sake (like just for the sake of being art, rather than having super deep personal feelings with each piece. //ofc this is just my guess, idk how he feels irl) so I currently don't see that as a super strong receipt either.1 point

Yes! I almost feel like doing their work for them because over years of being a BTS fan I have observed things that could be pointed out and can do it much quicker ! Here's a list, even if I think it's dubious and I hardcore think Tae is gay. 1. That Twice video from TMA where he's looking wistfully at every member as if he wants to talk to them. 2. The Wheein reaction from THAT Hip performance (though I'm just going to say, this one was an Event and I don't know who wasn't flabbergasted) 3. iHeartRadio flirtation with Rachel 4. His interaction whispering with Tiffany of SNSD where - why? 5. That one YouTube video of a chorus line dancer from Seoul PTD where she said he was 'checking them out' 6. Being very pleased and blushing when Sakshma (interviewer) told him he had a sexy voice. 7. His newest icon Leslie Cheung is a bisexual man, not a gay one. Isn't this much more reasonable @Taebear? It's across eras, different platforms and people, different arguments. People can actually react to such a short list. While now people are ignoring you and just treating you like a menace / spammer / DDoS hate-crimer. If you really need to get it out of your system, make a Tumblr / WordPress with ALL the videos and just post that link on here? So people can access it much more easily without just getting annoyed.1 point

Aww no what will we do on the Which BTS Members Do You Think Are Gay thread now??1 point
-
Just sort of a random comment (This isn’t towards any argument in particular): Don’t idols try not to show any emotion towards the opposite gender in front of the camera to prevent scandals and stuff??? I feel like an idol never showing anything towards women in videos isn’t a good enough reason to say they are LGBT, they are literally trained to not interact and make eye contact and such. I also don’t think an idol reacting towards women is proof they aren’t LGBT either. Not just specifically here, but all over the internet I see arguments like “xxxx idol avoids eye contact with women so they must be gay!!” and it’s just like ???? Yes??? Of course that male idol is trying to avoid looking at women?? Their company would kick their ass if it was caught on camera. A few days ago a member of Enhyphen had a dating scandal with someone from Fromis9 just because they made eye contact…1 point

Honestly most ( dont want to assume) people he had issue with them not because of their arguments but because they crashed the browsers with shippers video's. If it was some actual new data and it still made our browsers crash, I wouldn't have an issue with that. But using shipping video's, nah that was not worth it.1 point

This response isn't just for you two but for everyone making similar posts. First of all, there seems to be somewhat of an erasure of male bisexuality as a separate/different and valid sexual orientation to gay in this thread. Secondly, does this thread want to figure out an idol's actual sexuality by looking at all pieces of "evidence" or a thread who wants to hope idols are gay (and only gay), don't want their bubbles burst, and censor other viewpoints? If we only post evidence/opinions that an idol is gay but censor other stuff such as new things we learn about the idol as time goes on, then it can give rise to biased assumptions, can't it? I do understand not wanting to be het-spammed in a gay thread, that's why I'm trying to put all my "Taeyong likes women" receipts into a few posts. Like after this post I will go back and add to my previous post everything that's still on my mind, which people can skip reading if they want to/not interested. Also Taehyung and Taeyong are somewhat special cases because they're big idols, who have already been heavily mentioned (on here, on Twitter) for years, and can come across/have come across as gay or ambiguous. On my part, I kind of want to "make amends" for all of my "Taeyong is definitely gay" posts/spam I did earlier after "my eyes have opened", and now I understand him (to a degree). Note: This is the only comment I'll make about Taehyung liking women, and I don't even know if it's an indicator of straightness...I swear back when I used to ult/follow BTS I remember seeing a clip of a male-female couple doing a raunchy performance on stage, and Taehyung in the audience made an obvious "nosebleed" imitation/reaction, he was like "whoa" *bursting nosebleed reaction with both hands*. Can gay guys still do that?1 point

what is the recent uptick in veeners or vanity dental procedures in kpop? (or maybe just hybe) moka from illit just 'debuted', on the show she had very endearing, prominent front teeth that she even mentioned as one of her charming points but suddenly in their chuseok video they seem to different? whats even stranger was that this couldnt have been filmed more than one week after the final episode, i cant understand why theyd be such in rush to do this before: after:0 points

( i'm not a jikook truther but some things that this Guy said in this video were interesting ) he is a specialist in body language and analysis... In this video he basically says that this "ear suck" thing was most likely not fanservice because this is a very intimate thing to do with someone, and the way that jimin didn't respond or showed Any rejection to this the guy in the video said that It wasn't the first time that It happened He basically Said that there's not a certain answer to this moment in particular to draw a conclusion to If they had or had not something going on, but he said that these boy/girlgroups spend so much time together, are not even allowed to date or interact with someone of the opposite gender... And out of needyness and spending so much time together with these people ( sometimes even 24 hours a day) some feelings or attraction can start to show ( even If he/she doesn't consider himself/herself as gay or bi ) Regardless of shipps and all this stuff i found this video Very interesting-4 points
