some of the pre-debut pics you came across are after she had surgery already (pretty sure she had her eyes, nose, and probably some jaw work done before entering SM) and some others where captured in motion when she was pulling her face down a bit to make it look more oval shaped ig. Uncanny valley does not mean looking deformed beyond recognition. Uncanny valley is a feeling from seeing something or someone look human, act human, but there is just something off that cannot be described, only felt. When it’s a case of someone’s behavior that is off, it’s called a gut feeling. When it’s appearance based, it’s uncanny valley. So if people feel off but you don’t, it doesn’t mean they are misusing uncanny valley, it means you have a higher tolerance/they have lower tolerance. Feelings are not in a objective scale, it really depends on the person.

Lately there’s been a lot of talk on twitter and maybe here (but I haven’t noticed) about the group chat between The Boyz Jacob and Kevin, NCT Mark, and P1Harmony Keeho. Kevin has referred to it as the foreigner chat but it’s specifically Canadians. There some indication that Matthew from ZB1 possibly might be involved. Now one of the tenets that I tend to believe about Kpop is that the foreigners and especially Westerners in Kpop are much more likely to be gay. That group of folks feels as much like a gay friend group as anything.

Nah but as Somi's fan i just dont see it. As weird as it is to talk about someone boobs size but i dont notice any difference in her size. She has always been bustier. Does in that video her breast look bigger than usual? Maybe yes sure but that can be about the bra she is wearing, otherwise havent seen any indications of boob job. I think with big boobs (or boobs in general) depending what bra you are wearing you can emphasize/or de-emphasize the size/cleavage etc. I honestly think that is just what you are seeing with Somi. Im not just talking about body proportions. Im also talking about the face. TBVH there’s literally no sense in saying uncanny in here when none of yall can objectively pinpoint what’s uncanny. You say Wonyoung is Uncanny and then on the other hand say that Karina is also uncanny when they’re literally polar opposites of like visual spectrum (karina has smaller eyes in comparison to kpop visuals, doesnt have a petite nose, etc), and people say her face shape is weird, but it literally isn’t weird for me LOL. Like i know she got that chin shaved, but it’s still on realms of being realistic considering her facial height isn’t even tall in the first place. And plenty of natives in my area have the same face shape (heart-ish face shape) with varying chins. U say some of these people with gaunt cheeks from buccal fat removal uncanny, then say the same for people with literally chubbiest cheeks (wonyoung winter). and then i stumble into “riize uncanny” like i saw people calling wonbin or that man i quoted as uncanny and i was like… how? Like is the criteria is “plastic surgery”, “SM”, or whoever K-netz praise as top visual? LMAO. im sorry but there’s no difference to me between Karina or Minji even if the latter is what people say “looks more natural” LOL. The concept of uncanniness is so abstract like atp it’s just a drag to whoever u wanna call it. in the first place “uncanny valley” isn’t a phenomenon about pretty damn people. Robots are SCIENTIFICALLY AND OBJECTIVELY uncanny valley even if it’s ugly.

One thing I find ironic about Aespa is how the Korean line is pushed as the visuals, but the foreign line looks the most natural. All of them have work, sure. But Winter and Karina can verge into uncanny (especially Karina). Ningning and Giselle look like more refined versions of their predebut selves.

I'm not saying they had implants but breast implants can sit low on the chest. They go in where the breasts are and if they're hanging low that's where they go. The only way breast implants sit higher is if the patient also gets a breast lift.

Even though I get what you’re saying, people can look uncanny valley without the weird proportions, there are idols that to me look uncanny valley ? There are( and I’ll not say their names cause I think it’s rude) but sometimes this forum thinks that anyone with certain level of ps looks uncanny valley, it’s complicated to say the least, because I feel a mean spirited nature in some comments around here, but at the same time it can all be perspective, maybe I’m more accustomed to seeing faces with ps so I don’t think anything about it and maybe other people are not that familiar with that or maybe they just don’t like the look ? What’s uncanny valley to me maybe it’s not for you, but, again, I can’t negate that sometimes this type of term seems to be used just to blow someone’s appearance or slightly shame the amount of ps that the person did.

i think i've said it before on here but have you guys noticed how people having done their eyelids with the newer scar-free technique end up with both their new crease (which often looks natural and not surgery-deep) whilst still having the ghost indents of their past eyelid folds? take wonyoung and wonbin as examples. wonyoung (ive) wonbin (riize) What do you think?

i actually came across his predebut pics before seeing his official pics from SM, and thinking he already had a very conventionally beautiful face. like, there's probably an aspect of nepotism involved because of his famous parents, but he was handsome enough to be scouted off the streets. the fact that SM felt the need to recommend nose work even to him is wild to me. first of all, he's just what, 18 years old? and secondly, he already had beautiful facial harmony with his natural features that can easily be elevated with makeup and styling alone. why the unnecessary nose job? it just blows my mind.

I feel like the parents themselves are also getting PS lmao. Like, if it was me and my mom is getting PS, cosmetic procedures, regular skin appointments, etc herself, then I probably wouldn’t think she’d mind if my boss is asking me to do PS (1) for my job and (2) for free lol

I saw this on the lesbian thread as well, I don't think there is much meaning to it. I saw another video of Somi flirting with a girl via text and she seems to be playfully showing her charisma and playing into fan service (though she also seems to be enjoying it, so there's that too). She never came off as queer to me but I might not know enough about her, there obviously is the possibility. She simply doesn't ping me personally.

I said he's not gay...didn't say straight. But given his religious upbringing + being the only son of his family. I doubt he'd act seriously on any male attraction if he had the option to have a fulfilling relationship with a woman. If he knows he's gay I doubt he'd get a beard right now since as a korean celebrity he has the option to delay dating/marriage up to his 40s without issue. So either he's straight, bi but unlikely to be in serious relationships with men, or gay and so in denial that he thinks he's straight. Personally I feel the first option is the most likely but you can think whatever you want.
