I can't believe it! (well I actually can). As someone who has been a AAA fan for as long as I've been a kpop fan, I'm really happy for him. Sometimes I did wonder about Shinji, but not as much as the other members (except Nissy) or Urata when he was part of the group. They've been in the industry since 2008 (edit: oops 2005, I just discovered them around 2008), and since after members leaving or getting pregnant, they've been doing mostly solo activities. Despite that, I'm happy the other 4 in the group still joined him on the big day!

Part of what makes Ricky hard to gauge is that imo he's much younger emotionally than expected. Visually he looks mature (I saw people assuming he was 22-23 lol) and during BP he was so petrified of being evil edited he barely emoted, but now in ZB1 it's becoming clear that he's very goofy and sweet and playful in an young way. Half the time the other members are calling him a baby and the fake maknae, and the other half the time they're calling him annoying haha. So whenever he does anything sus, I'm left wondering if he's being a babygirl or just being a baby. My takes... sorry for the novel: Jiwoong: Some BTS stuff with Seobin was interesting but I could go either way. If straight, he's a good ally, based on him being public friends with Holland Hao: Do I even need to say anything here Hanbin: Definitely queer, but more understated than some people expected. I think his predebut fierceness (ex. the Mother video) was a persona he put on to match the vibes of the performances Matthew: Straight and the Mattwoong stuff gives me huge younger child energy lol he grew up with an indulgent older sister and still likes being coddled. I think he's also comfortable with fanservice and plays into it (sometimes tooooo obviously) Taerae: Church Oppa is decisively dead lmao anybody shocked by his transformation in ZB1 needs to go rewatch BP because there's a reason he was attached at the hip to Woongki and Seowon, plus besties with Phanbin Ricky: No clue! I love him though!! Gyuvin: Very straight but effusively affectionate. I hope the intense surge in Gyuricky shipping doesn't make things weird btwn him & Ricky because their dynamic is adorable. Gunwook: Honestly kinda similar to Ricky, he looks and acts mature but is actually quite young and has expressed a desire to be babied by his hyungs which sometimes reads as babygirlism. I know he was part of a gg dance troupe in school but that alone doesn't convince me of anything. Probably straight...?? Yujin: Skipping him lol but I do think it's funny he's more mature (emotionally) than like half the group

Hello and Welcome to the first installment of my EXO analysis masterpost!! Predebut EXO with their current lineup, poor Xiumin wasn't invited it seems. But worry not, he will be part of this series. Now before we begin, here are a few disclaimers to start with: I am not going to analyze the ex-members(Kris, Tao, Luhan), simply because their departure from the group was almost ten years ago by now and I have no idea what they've been up to since (except Kris being in jail hopefully) or where to even start looking for updates on them. If anyone here happens to still follow them, they are welcome to make their own analyses and I will add them to the masterpost. I will try my best to include Lay though. Secondly, I will not go through era by era for every single member, for multiple reasons. Those being a) even with three/four members leaving or being inactive, they're still a big group, b) they've been around for a hot minute and sifting through old tumblr archives for pictures that are HD, unedited, have them wearing as little makeup as possible and have the right angle gave me a major headache, and c) they've really not changed all that much throughout the years. Lastly, please know that I know nothing. I only have a working set of eyes and google on my side. Corrections, comments and suggestions are more than welcome. Let's get started! The first member in this series is going to be no other than Baekhyun, whose analysis is probably one of the most anticipated! Now Baekhyun was an interesting and ngl one of the hardest cases for me to make sense of, for several reasons. Consequently, chances I'm wrong about pretty much everything are pretty high. Please take everything I say with a grain of salt. While at first glance it may seem like his surgeon crafted him a whole new face, the more I looked into it the more I came to the conlusion that he really didn't have all that much more done than the rest of the members at all. Rather, I think it was a few but very specific and effective changes that made all the difference in the end, because something clearly happened between these two photos, and it wasn't just a decent haircut and professional styling: We're going to look at three things that I think have changed, namely his eyes, nose and lower face, meaning the jaw/chin area. I apologize in advance for the terrible quality and angles of some of the predebut pics, I tried my best but he really didn't give me much to work with. I'm gonna start with the eyes, since those two pics already provide a pretty good look at what possibly changed (sorry for the inconsistent sizing lol also please note he is wearing light makeup in the second and third photos): The shape of his eyes stayed surprisingly similar. Droopy eyelids with a hidden crease and downturned corners. My guess is that he had an upper blepharoplasty predebut to get rid of excess fat and tissue on his upper eyelid. This small but decisive change did some heavy lifting and opened up his eyes quite a bit without altering the shape. At the same time it exposed his eyelid crease and irises a bit more, as is typical of blepharoplasties. His inner corners look the same to me, but he may have had his outer corners cut a little bit. Not sure about this one at all though, since it could just be side effect of the upper bleph. Now to get an idea of the changes to his nose: As we can see, from the front his nose bridge looks a bit bumpy with a bulbous tip. A quick glance it his side profile also shows that his nose used to be shorter than it was at debut/now: Compared to 2012, where not only his nose bridge is smoothed out but his nose is also visibly longer: I had to look up which procedure can elongate the nose, and it seems that the answer is by reshaping the nose tip through cartilage grafting. I do not think he has an implant; it has been established before that he uses fillers to smooth out his bridge and it does seem to fluctuate every once in a while between slightly bumpy, straight and even hooked at times. He probably gets fillers in the upper part of his bridge up until the eyebrows and above the tip: Admittedly not the best pic, but the bridge is slightly more bumpy here. Versus more hooked in 2016: I also think he may have had an alarplasty in addition to the reshaping of the tip. Saving the best for last, let's look at the work the transformed his lower face. This is the one part about his face that has been debated the most throughout the years, with speculations ranging from jaw shave to chin shave to chin wing implants. After looking at a million pics I reckon he probably got the Jessica Special, meaning corrective jaw surgery with some cosmetic bonuses, since we're already at it. Using this pic again, we can see that his chin juts out awkwardly, creating an imbalanced lower face, with clear indents around his chin. This leads me to believe he first and foremost had corrective jaw surgery to fix his underbite, similar to Jessica, and then some more work to shorten and soften his chin a little bit and create an oval face shape: compared to his profile at debut: Now what's interesting is that the closer we get to his predebut times at SM, the more his jaw looks like his post debut one. It could theoretically be possible that he already had corrective jaw surgery in high school as it would be beneficial for him, with SM only adding the finishing touches to complete his flowerboyification. Look at his jaw during his high school graduation ceremony, it does not look all that different from how it looks now: I still believe he either had a chin reduction or a chin wing implant later on to further integrate his chin and create more of a v-line. There's this indent between his lower lip and chin that doesn't seem to exist anymore. Comparing predebut Baekhyun to a more recent picture: To sum it all up, here's what I think he's got done: 1. Upper Blepharoplasty 2. Possible Epicanthoplasty 3. Tip plasty by using cartilage grafting 4. Possible Alarplasty 5. Fillers to smooth out nose bump 6. Corrective Jaw Surgery to fix bite issues 7. Chin Reduction or Chin Wing Implant to give the illusion of a reduction 8. Generally fillers like how all idols get them What do you think? I think it's a shame how much flack Baekhyun gets for looking "ugly" predebut, so I tried my best not to use the worst pictures ever for this comparison. He undoubtedly had work done to get to his current looks, but I am firmly against purposefully using the most unflattering pics one can find and comparing them with pics where he is clearly all dolled up. For the after-photos I tried using pics where he's wearing very little to no makeup and that weren't edited to hell and back, to make it as fair as possible. As I said in the introduction, I am by no means an expert on this and at the end of the day only he knows the amount of plastic surgery he's had. I limited myself to only pointing out the changes I can personally see, but if there's anything else that caught your eye please do comment and I might add it to the post. Also please let me know if I should put the pics under spoilers, I tried to limit my selection as much as possible and tried my best at resizing them without compromising too much of the quality, but if it's still too much I'll change it. Even just a year or two ago, swathes of people were insisting he was becoming more manly or more "boyfriend-coded," with an intensity that kinda felt like denial. Now if you check Tiktok comments or qrts about him, it's nothing* but babygirl/slay/goddess/mother/cuntress/girlypop/etc (which is iffy in a different way). I'm curious whether it's the same people and they finally accepted reality let go of the manly man rhetoric, or whether Enhypen's growing popularity has introduced new fans who never bought into the manly man rhetoric in the first place. Even Belift seems to have backed off on that a little, thank god. *ok there are still some boyfriend stans but they're a much smaller contingent than they used to be.

I’m also deep in the zb1 brainrot and this something I’m wondering a lot about as well lol. Right now I lean towards the members knowing. Seeing Gyuvin and Gunwook joking about how Hanbin flirts made me think that they probably are aware (who else would they have seen Hanbin flirting with?) We know that the members have been lurking on the internet since the start of bp so I think it’s very likely that they’ve seen Hao’s old weibo posts, all the gay planet jokes, Jiwoong’s bl kiss and so on. When you also consider the fact that zb1 seems to have become so close (with several of them having known each other for years) and how open they seem to be with each other I feel like they must have talked about all of this in some shape or form. I think they at the very least are aware that hao and hanbin are gay. Especially since haobin seems to have been quite comfortable with their sexuality before bp judging by their online presence. I might just be overthinking it though.

I'm back with the second part of my EXO series! This time we're going to look at Chen! I actually meant to post his analysis yesterday as well thinking it was going to be quick and easy, but when I was deciding on which pictures to choose I realized his case wasn't quite as clear cut as I initially thought. After browsing some more old blogs and looking at him in motion I think I can finally pinpoint what's changed for sure. All disclaimers from yesterday apply here as well. Let's start with a general comparison: (Apologies for the bad quality of the predebut pic, all the better quality ones had him wearing glasses so you could barely see his eyes which is why I had to settle for this one.) Anyway, at first glance it kinda seems like nothing much has changed at all. While predebut Chen had a noticeably square jaw, which resulted in his face sometimes looking rather bottom heavy and a little bit imbalanced, his post debut jaw doesn't look all that much different from the front. His profile however is a different story: With SM's love for v-lines and soft, steep jaws, there was no way they'd let a strong jaw like Chen's pass. And fair enough, at debut his mandible angle had been visibly shaved down, indicating a jaw reduction. What really tripped me up however was when this was supposed to have happened. Watching their old MVs, I initially thought he had debuted with his original jaw and either went in for a jaw shave during their hiatus between their debut and their first album, or had his jaw shaved down sometime between their MV filming and debut, which would have left him with very little recovery time: This gif from the History MV shows him with his distinctly square jaw. Same with some of their earliest promo: Once he'd debuted however his lower face started to look significantly slimmer and more v-shaped, and from looking at pics as early as his Gayo Daejun performance in 2011 it was clear that his jaw shave must have already happened by then, given his mandible angle was nowhere to be found. This leads me to believe that he did not only have a large mandibular bone, but large masseter muscles as well. In addition to a jaw shave he must've also gotten botox to the masseter muscles for the desired v-line effect that a jaw reduction alone couldn't achieve. I personally believe he still gets botox shots every once in a while. His jaw isn't nearly as inconsistent as, say, Jaehyun's, but it does occasionally seem to fluctuate a bit. The other thing that stuck out to me are his eyes. Sadly none of the predebut photos I've found are high quality enough to allow for a detailed analysis, but I'll try my best: These two photos admittedly don't give me much to work with, but judging by the second pic I believe Chen already had double eyelids to begin with, they were just rather uneven and a bit hidden. For his debut I believe he's had his double eyelids deepened and the crease heightened, as well as an epicanthoplasty to get rid of the epicanthic fold: I cannot tell whether he had an upper blepharoplasty as well, it's possible but for now I'm sticking with double eyelids+epicanthoplasty only. I do not think he touched his nose either; the picture with the glasses is pretty much the only one we have of his profile and his nose bridge looks about the same height as now to me. It does look a little bit more defined in his after pictures, but it's nothing good lighting can't do so I don't want to jump to conclusions without sufficient material to judge from. To sum it all up, here's what I believe Chen had done over the years: 1. Jaw Reduction 2. Masseter Botox 3. Double Eyelid Surgery 4. Epicanthoplasty Interestingly enough he's never struck me as the type to go ham on fillers. He probably does get them every once in a while, but overall his face moves very naturally and he never looks visibly filled in. My personal opinion is that while his jaw shave is definitely one of the better ones we've seen and only truly noticeable in profile when you know what to look for, it was also wholly unnecessary. I feel botox alone would've done a lot already to slim down his lower face and balance his features, but at the end of the day it's his face and I can't say he looks bad now. His eyes on the other hand are a stand out to me, I think getting rid of his epicanthic fold was an interesting choice that paid off. That's it for Chen! They are all, no exceptions, good at singing. - Baekhyun is seriously good at singing ... the 3 main vocalists are killing it. - Appear one more time for the B-side, one more time for winter album, include Tempo ... Mine isn’t too different than before, though Ricky is the one I ponder about the most. Taerae is the most flamboyant. It’s sad Woongki didn’t make it but Taerae is giving enough sass to help make up for it lol. Zhang Hao too in that regard. SHanbin is less flamboyant than the other two, and I honestly wouldn’t think much of him if it wasn’t for how much he seems to love Hao lol. He literally called him his other half, which was nice to see them affectionate with each other. Gunwook and Gyuvin I think are straight. Yujin seems really mellow overall and I don’t think much either of him but he’s also the youngest so I don’t like to ponder about minors too much, but that’s personal. Jiwoong is our resident boy kisser but bit of enigma. Wouldn’t be shocked if he was gay, bi, or ace tbh. Ricky and Matthew are the more mysterious ones to me. I think Matthew is straight but sometimes I get a vibe. My vibes have always been way off though lol

i wonder how they balance it all like imagine being with your crush or partner 24/7 as a young adult, and on top of that, having to constantly monitor how you're perceived (this is why i absolutely devour canon compliant fics LOL) + i also wonder if the members (or the company) would know? bc how do you trust a group mainly comprised of teenage boys to keep a secret... one abt ~romance and love~ at that... all i know is that gunwook deserves compensation for everything he's probably witnessed (read: tomboy era) i'm so sorry i keep rambling fr (zb1 brainrot has hit me hard) but yes i think haobin are both so interesting bc they feel so worldly and wise given their experiences with college and work (compared to other idols their age who may have solely focused on training). so i bet they're great communicators! as great as they could be with idol life and all that jazz. plus, i feel like jiwoong offers a lot of support as someone else who's been through. so much. to say the least. now that i think about it, i feel like haobin, jiwoong, and taerae might be the queer members of zb1 :0 man i'd love to see their interactions with other potentially queer idols too (need more hanbin x sunoo asap) bc i truly miss the babygirlz from boys planet... i think seowon said smth abt haobin like "they're basically family now" and i just need to know what he's seen...

I'm like 99.9% certain that Changmin was the boyfriend that Junsung's mom found out about and lost her shit over. So there's... that, lol. Outside of that, I can see where they would be attracted to each other but how the relationship would have broken down because of their vastly different communication styles and ways of showing affection. But it's good to see that they are still friends though. For my thoughts on the eps: JUNSUNGHO NATION WE WONNNNNNNN!!! It's kinda insane how we went from Sungho declaring on Day 1 that it was "100% platonic/0% romance" to Day 5 being the happiest he had ever been in his LIFE with Junsung and being attached to the hip. It was also very organic and doesn't seem like a forced or whirlwind connection. I also appreciate than Junsung was persistent and consistent in his pursuit of Sungho without being pushy or overbearing unlike a certain other individual I'll get to later. Their whole storlyine in this show was the makings of a New York Times bestselling romance. The editors also need awards for the the their work in stitching together those phone booth shots, the music, the filming angles, and also interweaving their joy to make the other BS around them bearble to watch. I will say they were a little obnoxious once they became THE house couple, especially when they had the nerve to want to raid Seonwoo's wardrobe for couple outfits then said all of his clothes were dull right in front his face. They did make up for it later in the chats and I like that they get along with everyone. The camp scenes were something else and there is no way they did not kiss at some point in the camper. My heart really went out to my sad gays Seonwoo and Jeongwook this episode. I don't think Seonwoo was really heartbroken over Sungho but I think came to some self-realizations through this process and is also just incredibly lonely. But I think going forward he can be more open and honest to others and not so much of a people pleaser. Jeongwook is still grieving his 8 year relationship and really isn't in the place to be dating especially a 21 year old like Yunghee. It's a blessing in disguise that ship sunk. I did think while watching the Seonwoo and Jeongwook could potentially have a connection if they interacted on a deeper level. Manifesting that crack ship into existence, lol. I think Yunghee is just riding the rest of the time living a Mariah Carey fantasy and I can't be mad at him. He's too young to sit around being a sad gay too. Now for the Bermuda Triangle. Everyone involved annoys me to varying degrees, but Hyungjin takes the cake as the worst. For one, he's way too domineering and overbearing with Minsung. Bombarding him over breakfast, the car arrangements, constantly inserting himself when ever Hjoon and Minsung are alone. Calm tf down. But I also think it's smarmy how he tries to act like Hjoon's friend in private then switches up when they're in the group. I understand Hjoon's feeling totally blindsided because Hjin says one thing and then behaves another way. I sympathize with Minsung's predicament because I wouldn't want to be stuck with two guys I'm torn over both in front of me in the same space all the time either. But he also needs to stop avoiding the conflict and at least tell them to chill out while he makes up his mind. I think Hjoon is more sensitive to not wanting to make Minsung uncomfortable which is why he backs down a lot and tries not to make it into a bigger issue. But Hjin just keeps demonstrating his lack of consideration for other people's feelings and it's making me root for Joon to come out on top or for Minsung to just cut both of them and go about his day. ALL than being said, I do love the friendship dynamics of this cast. Particularly I love the Seonwoo/Minsung, Yunghee/Hyungjoon, and Sungho/Jeongwook moments. Last season had good friend dynamics too, but this cast feels tighter knit and like they would remain a real friend group outside of the house. I know I would watch like a Real Boyfriends of Itaewon or something with them and hope they do Youtube content like the S1 cast does to see more of their casual interactions.

Oooh gotcha! I assumed you didn't! A lot of people just don't know since he got the work done predebut or think he's pretty natural so it's always fun to share. I do wish he kept his monolids/tapered eyelids, I always think they give idols a pretty owl or cat-like look, add a bit of "yang" to soft faces, but his work has been pretty successful and looks great, so I'd be very disappointed in any further crazy changes too. Luckily I don't think he would change much now since he's started getting interest in the fashion industry, being invited to fashion week. If he would, I feel like he'd already done it by now. I love what you mean by very dry face. The gaunt sharpness is very high fashion and editorial, any crazy filler would totally undermine that sculpted prince-y vibe. He was known as the "happy virus" gag member for so long, I know it's been known or considered as such for a lot of fans already but I'm glad the public has actually realized he's part of the group's visual line.

DK actually already did! Just long ago. He was one of the first members to get any overt work done, very young. He did eyes, eyelids and his nose. His nose was done pretty much predebut so there are some predebut and debut content with his new nose BUT in their old reality show in their practice room you can see his nose used to be bigger/softer. It used to have a more bulbous and downturned curved tip. He and Wonwoo actually looked pretty similar imo Looking at pictures I think he might have had his eyes opened up a little but kept monolids or at least tapered eyelids pretty far into debut, but got double eyelid surgery at some point, I think before Aju Nice. His double eyelid has historically been very very tight/small and close to his actual lash line so it can be hard to notice. I think we discussed on here the eyelid might have actually gone away at some point and had to be redone. His nose is not natural but I think it works in part because he had some natural projection already, it has some irregularity to it, and also curves/hooks when he smiles or laughs. I feel they also matched his nose to his other existing proportions/features which are very vertical and narrow. He used to be quite chubby/overweight as a kid in some very old predebut photos but but you can see that his features naturally leaned narrow despite the weight. A lot of idols go against their existing proportions or do the opposite in their nosejobs or facial changes and that's why it looks bad while his doesnt really look that bad despite it's severity. I honestly don't think he's fussed with his face much since, aside from lots of weight loss, so since his initial work and upkeep he's actually fallen into the camp of more "natural looking" / lesser work in SVT.

It almost weird how you forget how idols used to look and almost forget or dont realise all the small changes and start to think this is how they always looked. Unless its super obvious new nose implant or something, but when idols gradually tweak their eyes or something at some point you dont realise how small changes actually change a persons overall look. I came across pictures of Karina during Black mamba era and i didnt realise how different she looks now. I'm not sure if she has done anything huge but all the small tweaks has really changed her look. I never thought Karina as super natural idol or anything but i didnt realise how big the change actually is when you go from current era to back to debut era.

Wow look at the comments at Pannchoa saying Suzy looks different because of her bang... Reminds me of a comment that said when celebs do something to their face, they would also change their hairstyle to make it seems like the change to their face is just because of the hair.

Remember when an idol would pop up looking different and fans would say theyre just swollen from eating salty food or their lips are big because they ate something spicy the night before

Now that Woozi has said his lips look like that because of an allergic reaction – what is the next step, then? Allergic reactions go away. Is he calling his provider saying "yeah, no, I actually need to dissolve these fillers ASAP"? Or is this just one of those things where an idol says whatever, no care in the world about plot continuity, and the fans believe anything while his allergic reaction is still there at MAMA 2023?

As a constantly-in-Dino's-business fan (help me), I actually considered the other day if he's gotten a little on his top lip lately like Woozi, as Woozi has been trying to get people to notice his lip filler for the last few years now and just started to get more done, but I decided Dino either has not or if he does, he's been doing it for a long time in very subtle amounts which isn't impossible but seems unlikely. Dino's top lip goes very thin when he sings/talks or smiles but it's pretty pouty in the middle naturally. @woook ur right his nose did change too following Left and Right and before Home Run, and what we've been seeing the last few years has been his healing period, but it healed really nice, unless he has gotten other work on it since but if so it looks even better. Since debut he has actually had likely 2ish nosejobs, with his first I think right before Aju Nice, with potentially other minor bridge and tip work on it in between. The only other work I can notice for sure is front teeth dental work/possible verneers or bonding (shaved his front teeth down straight at the least) which ymmv if that's considered anything noteworthy. Less certain is minor eye work while maintaining his monolids. They seem a bit bigger and more open than in some older content but it's hard to tell. It was done a LONG time ago though if he did. Dino IS pretty natural looking tho, especially when barefaced so he's a great example of pretty good / reasonably subtle ps overall. Woozi becoming a filler fan is indeed the surprise of the bunch.

Oh! Yeah i see these a lot with Irene and i've never understood it. To me she clearly looks her age (when she isnt drowned in filters). She obviously looks really good, but i would absolutely be able to guess close to her age even if i didnt know. I guess its also because she is such iconic visual people automatically think she must look younger which is stupid once again

looking at the likes of taeyeon, wendy, and karina has made me hate and dread jaw shaves so much. they're def my top examples of jaw shaves gone wrong, bc whenever i see the lower part of their faces, they look very obviously disproportionate and unnatural, like there's something missing. the only person i can think of who actually looked natural with it is sejeong.

They're real people, not plastic monsters. You can't just say things like that. It's disgusting. So much of it is due to pressure from companies, society, body dysmorphia. There's so much pressure on these young people's backs.

You sound very angry. I may have not worded it well but whenever Taeyeon is blonde, I see Karina in her and vice versa I’m talking about the soft blush, the way the contour is placed, the eye make up and pink lips. Ofc it doesn’t make sense to compare Taeyeon her facial features completely because Taeyeon has also got a ton of stuff done since ‘I’ and ‘Lion Heart’. Sorry for not wording that correctly. Yet, I still see some similarities. Isn’t it also to each their own when seeing these things? No one here knows for sure what is fact. Do you mind explaining why people comparing these two makes you so upset? I am really wondering.
