  1. other people quoting some more superficial things but honestly it’s how connected he is with the gay community in his personal life. take a look at his close friend group and they are all connected, with many of them openly out; fashion brand owners, cafe owners, restaurant owners, drag queens, stylists, hair stylists, etc. (by the way his supposed bf is close friends with an openly gay tiktoker who went over to key’s place for dinner wishing “happy 1000 days” but that is for another day…) gay rumors since he was a rookie, sightings at gay clubs/bars since he was of age. general consensus on queer k-twitter that he is gay and they’ve heard stories about him. love and support for queer media, spaces, and icons. look at the places that he actually goes to. look further and you see that they are owned by queer people themselves. what shawols show you https://www.instagram.com/p/CuGsIU2p8WM/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== the restaurant this but for all of his career. just a recent example. honestly that is all that is needed to me. idk why people think that there aren’t gay korean people out here living their lives because i see his friends doing just that. i find it funny when people are like convince me key is gay because you need convincing? just look at his personal life. how did i make this longer than i intended idk anyway im not here to convince anyone i just couldn’t let this turn into a superficial he covered a song with male pronouns and wore pride shoes! thing. sincerely, person who has been up kibum’s ass for over 10 years.

  2. if you go to page 2, someone made a huge analysis post about kibum. But here are some things off the top of my head. Covering songs with male pronouns: Juice by Lizzo: Judas by Lady Gaga: On the new album they have a very queer song, Identity, which he said was his fav on the album: He was also just wearing Nike pride shoes for promotion: He has also had numerous boyfriend rumors, but I think the analysis on page 2 discusses them. Other than that, he has never been interested in women in his 15 years of him being an idol.

  3. Regarding the current discussion, I don't want to sound overly negative, but I believe many people underestimate the extent of fanservice in Kpop. Everybody knows that fans love witnessing cute interactions between members (whether they interpret them as romantic or not) and Kpop companies have always capitalized on this for their marketing strategies, sometimes even pushing specific couples (see what SM did with Yunjae for example). Idols also undergo PR training, keep tabs of what is being said about them on social media, and are fully aware of fans likes and dislikes. Most of the time what you see on camera is just what they want you to see. This is not to say “these idols are all straight guys doing fanservice!!” (I agree that there is a fair share of gay idols) or “everything you know about them is fake!!” (because nobody can fake their persona 100% of the time). But honestly, I don't think it's worth spending time analyzing all those cuddly and flirty moments between bandmates in variety shows or any official content... That being said, I have no doubt that there are male idol/male idol couples. It's just that, regardless of their sexual orientation, most celebrities are protective of their private life and relationships. I do agree with you @pyunkangyul regarding matching social media posts because obviously some celeb couples do this. Same goes for matching clothes/accessories. However, being super affectionate in front of cameras is a whole different level that not many people would be comfortable with, in my opinion. Of course, one could argue that gay couples are protected to some extent since everything they do will be labeled as fanservice or bromance, but it's still unnecessary risky? The more you act like a couple, the more attention it puts on your relationship and any potential slip-up you might have (imagining having your every interaction scrutinized by shippers...way too stressful)

  5. I also think it's worth considering that Key is 15 years deep and has never had even a rumor of him dating a woman. I can think of very few idols who can go a whole decade+ completely rumor free, much less an SM idol. He was on We Got Married and not even that baited any rumors. He's even very publicly friends with Taeyeon and they've never been rumored to date like so many public male/female friends (and the fact that Key is rumored to date a ton of his public male friends lol) Occam's razor would suggest that Key has gotten away with no rumors for so long because he just isn't dating any women in the first place.

  6. So I've been thinking lately about the true proportion of folks in the K-pop boy group realm that are gay or some form thereof. I think there are some obvious advantages in Korean society for a gay person to become involved in the entertainment industry, and so I've long suspected that the percentage of gay people in the K-pop industry is quite a bit higher than the general population. I decided to sit down and quantify it using groups that I'm personally a fan of. For context, that's 65 groups included disbanded and inactive groups made up of 495 members total. I counted only the ones that I personally felt very confident that they were somewhere in the LGBT+ spectrum. I counted 80. That's 16% for only ones that's I'm quite confident about. I suspect the true proportion might be close to 20-25% For those that are interested, I'm putting the whole list spoilered below. It's too long otherwise. These are mostly not based on any evidence other than my own feelings. There are more in the industry that I believe are gay, but I'm not necessarily a fan of their group. I included former members with the groups I know them best for.

  7. She's clearly done a lot but I want to see her without the bangs to really compare the before and the after. And speaking of Kiss Of Life members, girl...

  8. I agree about Key being pretty obvious (the the extent that he can be) but I don't agree about the dating rumours as nearly all male idols have dating rumours with the opposite sex. I don't think that has any bearing on their sexuality because people nearly always assume someone is straight. Also, many gay people do date members of the opposite sex before realising they are gay/ to cover it up. Not to mention that genuine interest in women doesn't preclude someone from liking men too.

  9. This is mostly a joke but does anyone else feel like something happened between Mark and Jaemin? Not to read to much too much into it but they have been really affectionate with eachother these past few months and wasn’t something that happened (I’ve seen) before. https://www.instagram.com/p/CuPS-T_LOpT/?igshid=Y2I2MzMwZWM3ZA== Jaemin seems to be the one going for the skinship while Mark is still pretty reserved and conscious of other people around. Even then he doesn’t seem to mind it and gives off the feeling he would reciprocate if they were alone https://www.instagram.com/p/Ct8Yd_LJqgT/?img_index=4&igshid=YmQ5MjYyNzNkNQ== https://www.instagram.com/p/CrvQjnFPGeV/?img_index=2&igshid=YmQ5MjYyNzNkNQ== https://www.instagram.com/p/CrqnR2NpiXb/?igshid=Y2I2MzMwZWM3ZA== Not too sure how their interactions differ from the rest of the group or if it’s purely for fanservise but it’s cute and interesting nonetheless.

  11. I don’t understand their thought process behind their self sabotage. They were only one song famous, had a shaky fandom foundation, no solid Korean fan base to go to bat for them and no recognisability as individuals, yet they decided to throw everything away by biting the hand that fed them. The more information we get, the more I feel bad for their CEO and frustrated at the girls for having it relatively easy and messing it all up.

Whenever I read this thread, the consensus on KEY is "Oh absolutely 100%" what are the sources on that other than the way he acts? I tried to use the search feature but theres so many mentions of him haha.

  22. I agree, I’ve been in so many work environments where coworkers were seeing each other and these are supposed to be professional places. Where there is a will there’s a way and we don’t all think rationally when emotions and especially hormones are involved. Like previously stated most of these idols are in their late teens, early to mid 20s and as someone who’s there now I’m not shocked at all at the idea of idols not caring about the dating ban. We have gotten confirmation so many times of idols from different groups and companies being friends and having group chats. These are idols whose fans had no idea even knew or interacted with each other calling themselves close friends. When you take all that into account it’s not that hard to come to the conclusion that these idols regardless if they’re straight or queer or likely seeing each other. Aren’t more queer kids in pretty much any country more likely to gravitate towards the entertainment business? I’ve also heard a few times that it’s hard for these companies to find rappers because a lot of actual rappers don’t want to be idols. I’m pretty sure there’s still some stigma associated with being idols in Asia. And when we also take this into account it’s not that hard to imagine gay/queer idols seeing each other. Plus wasn’t Sunoo seen hanging out with boys from boys planet? Gay idols are going to find each other whether they’re in the same group or not.

  23. just a small thing, i remember seeing a while back that minsung actually didn't identify as asexual and later said believed he hadn't actually been able to fully experiment or be able to come to terms with his own sexuality when he was a kpop idol but i could be wrong (i think he said it in a video that was an interview with his friend? can't remember though and it's hard to find the source. tweet embedded below is the most i could find on it)

  31. As a fan of Jessica and lover of perfumes for many years, I was super excited to see my interests converge like this I located and sampled every perfume shown in the video. There is only one bottle I could not identify, as it was hiding behind her the whole time. It took me a long time to test them all, but it was a lot of fun. I did this purely out of curiosity, for my own enjoyment, but I thought I'd share my thoughts! For extra fun, I decided to assign each perfume a different music video look Jessica has done that I think would fit. First section is the perfumes she talked about, in order of the video: PULP by BYREDO - Jessica said this is her signature scent, and that she’s already gone through 8 or more bottles. First of all, that’s a LOT of perfume. But also, once I tried this, I was shocked that this is her signature. I would have never guessed she would pick something like this. Sweet and vibrant she says, yes, sure. It’s a pretty realistic fruit pulp scent, but not in the best way, to me. It's very green, kind of harsh like crushed leaves, and fruit “pulp” smell has an almost spoiled vibe to it. Like, imagine you’ve cut up grapefruits, and the juice lingering on the cutting board has gotten warm and stale. It's not the worst fragrance I’ve ever tried, but it’s my least favorite from her collection. Sorry, Jess! – Fly Jessica | 4/10 BAL D'AFRIQUE by BYREDO - LOVE. So far, this is the one fragrance I have purchased since watching Jessica’s video and testing her collection. Her description of it is perfect: clean, soapy, white t-shirt and denim. It’s quite fresh with a light fruity sweetness that makes it so easy to wear. I mostly pick out the vetiver, the orange blossom, the sweet lemon, and the black currant. It’s not the sexiest, the most elegant, or the most head-turning fragrance, but it’s unique, and a fantastic everyday scent, unisex as well. - Into The New World Jessica | 9/10 IRIS POUDRE by FREDERIC MALLE - You guys, wow. This is my favorite from her collection. Frederic Malle picked this from his brand personally for Jessica, and I can see why. It’s a mature, classy fragrance, very feminine and “ladylike”. Very floral, but because iris is the star, it’s soft and powdery, with a woody base. It’s very smoothly blended. Everything melts together into one somewhat simple but impactful fragrance, and it gets sweeter and more powdery as the hours pass. I’m not in a rush to get a full bottle because it’s more femme and more mature than what I usually wear, but I absolutely want to add this to my collection eventually. – The Boys Jessica | 10/10 DO SON by DIPTYQUE - Fresh, green, but slightly creamy, tropical tuberose scent. Well-rounded. It’s a floral that is not too piercing or heady. It still is quite strong, so those who are subject to headaches may want to spray lightly. It’s one of the most popular scents from the brand. Personally, I’m not a big fan of tuberose, so this didn’t stun me, but I can appreciate its beauty, and I think it suits Jessica nicely. – Echo Jessica | 7/10 BACCARAT ROUGE 540 by MAISON FRANCIS KURKDIJAN - If you’re into perfumes, you may already know this one. It has been insanely popular in the last five~ years, along with its supposed dupe, Cloud by Ariana Grande. It’s nice. Lots of people smell cotton candy from this, I guess I can see it, but to me it smells like more like sweet tree sap. It has a foresty quality to it along with the sugary sweetness. Good perfume? Yes! Worth the hype? Eh, if you got money, sure. If not, go get Ari’s perfume instead. – Genie Jessica | 8/10 WHITE SUEDE by TOM FORD – Okay, I already loved and owned this perfume before Jessica’s video, and she’s gone through a bottle of it already so she loves it too. This is another fresh and clean, white t-shirt and denim kind of fragrance, but add a blazer. Unisex as well. It’s a soft musky floral mixed with a sharp earthiness. They balance each other out. The aromatics combine to give a slightly bitter yet cozy clean scent. It's pretty fresh and uplifting. When it has really dried down, after about 4 hours and the sharp earthy vibe has faded, the sweet amber finishes the fragrance and makes it feel a bit more luxurious. It's unique but also easy to enjoy, a mood booster. One of my favorites from Tom Ford. – Mr. Mr. Jessica | 9/10 LOVE IN WHITE by CREED - Certainly a womanly scent, the vibe I get is more of a demure rich woman, and it is unmistakably for the springtime. It’s a pretty heady floral, it feels airy and tingles your nose, and has a super clean pristine vibe to it. When I smell this I think of blonde angels, I think of Reese Witherspoon on her wedding day. It actually smells quite synthetic, it has a plasticky vibe to it, almost like acetone, it’s going to give some people headaches. Jessica said she prefers more natural smelling scents, so I understand why this isn’t her favorite. But I like it. – Time Machine Jessica (the white outfit!) | 7/10 UNE ROSE by FREDERIC MALLE - Une Rose is an earthy rose fragrance. Not harsh, not heavy, but dry. There is a red wine accord here that I enjoy picking out, though it fades away once the perfume dries down. Very natural smelling, but very elegant too. Jessica loves this fragrance, the bottle in the video is her second bottle. I think it suits her. To me, it’s pretty, but nothing very special. Perhaps I just don’t enjoy dry rose scents much. If you're reading this, then you're probably actually reading my post, shoutout to you, love that. – DIVINE Jessica | 6/10 NIGHT NIGHT BALM by BADGER - This isn’t a perfume, it’s an aromatherapy balm, but she featured it so I tried it! It’s lavender and chamomile, plus menthol to give a slight cooling sensation. Jessica uses it before bed to help her sleep. It is certainly relaxing, however it’s not very strong and I can only smell it for like 10 minutes. It’s marketed towards kids specifically, so maybe that’s why. Some reviews recommended their Sleep Sleep Balm instead. – Asleep Jessica | 5/10 Below are the fragrances she has on her shelf with her but she did not speak about. I had to do some sleuthing to catch them all throughout the video. I'll be a bit more concise with these. • CHANCE EAU TENDRE by CHANEL - If you’ve never bought perfume before, this is a good, safe option for women of all ages (especially younger women), it’s hard to dislike this. It’s a sweet fruity floral. VERY similar to Daisy by Marc Jacobs, but a bit less floral/green. High quality, smells pretty, but this kind of scent is EVERYWHERE nowadays so I can’t get excited about it. – Oh! Jessica | 7/10 • INFLORESCENCE by BYREDO - Simple clean, lots of lily-of-the-valley, very green, no sweetness. Dry-down is soapy. It’s okay, but toooooo plain, it’s like Febreze. For the price, would not recommend. — I can’t pick a Jessica for this, idk! Um, Me Gustas Tu SinB | 6/10 • VANILLE FATALE by TOM FORD - This is different from anything else she has. Sweet vanilla and plum, spices, rum, and dark smoky woods. Sexy, delicious fragrance, especially after a couple hours. Unisex too. – Bad Girl Jessica | 8/10 • AQUA CELESTIA by MAISON FRANCIS KURKDIJAN - Very fresh and citrusy in the opening, sweet and tart, and a bit floral. Images I’m getting are mojito, juicy berries, garden. Leans feminine, dries down musky and fruity as the black currant shines more. It’s good for a casual summer day. – Love & Girls Jessica | 7/10 • FRESIA by SANTA MARIA NOVELLA - This is for the minimalists. It smells like a floral bar of soap. Like you just took a bath in the 90s. Surprisingly, the more I smell it, the more I like it. – Airport Jessica | 7/10 • COCO NOIR by CHANEL - Not dark like the name would imply, but theres a lot happening here. It’s a little sweet, floral, a little fruity, spicy, a little soapy, a little powdery and quite creamy. I didn’t know a scent could be both creamy and powdery. And it’s kinda unisex imo? It’s lovely. It’s a grown woman’s kind of fun. Perfume for MILFs. – Paparazzi Jessica | 8/10 • LA TULIPE by BYREDO - Really nice. Lotion-y green floral. Makes me think of dewdrops atop flowers in the morning. Dries down really fresh and soapy, kinda similar to Bal D’Afrique. — Love Me The Same Jessica | 8/10 • ROSE OF NO MAN'S LAND by BYREDO - A woody, foresty, almost powdery dry rose. Meh. This is the most unisex rose of the bunch, actually kind of masculine. Reminds me of urinal cakes a bit. Not a fan. — Catch Me If You Can Jessica | 5/10 • EAU ROSE by DIPTYQUE - My favorite of her rose scents. It’s simple, quite natural smelling, very bright and clean, but still strong on the rose. Dries down to a clean laundry + rose smell. – AMLIFY Jessica | 7/10 • PEONY & BLUSH SUEDE by JO MALONE LONDON - Oooo, I like this. It’s a floral that is fruitier than her rose perfumes but not as fruity sweet as Chanel Chance. It’s got a delicious juicy red apple note, some creaminess, and a little tiny bit of a masculine touch from the suede note. – Gee Jessica | 8/10
