Hi all, sorry for beating a dead horse but I've recently become a fan of Karina and I can't help but notice how much she's changed so much since Aespa's debut in 2020/2021. I know people talk about her entire transformation but I'm specifically wondering what she's had done since debut. When I look closer I don't see much difference in her individual features so it must have been very minor tweaks but her aura has changed completely. Best way I can describe it is that she transformed from more of a polarizing snake visual with wide-set eyes and a sharp v-line jaw and to a Barbie doll. I don't think it was just the blonde hair in Spicy because she has had the doll aura since Girls with the purple hair. Whatever she's had done makes her look gorgeous but it also got rid of most of her uniqueness. Now whenever I see recent pictures of her she looks like a bunch of different idols depending on her makeup and styling. I made a few before and after comparisons. Left is from 2021 and right is 2023. Sorry for the difference in quality, I tried to use Getty pictures to avoid editing of fansites and Korean photographers. Other pictures for comparison, not at the same angle/position (2021, 2022, 2023): Can someone give me the run-down on what she's had done since debut? I'm thinking: Inner eye corner surgery to lessen the space between her eyes Possibly a double eyelid surgery to make them larger Buccal fat removal Possible cheekbone shave too Rhinoplasty just to slim the nose cartilage Filler along the chin/jawline to soften it (compare the 2nd spoiler from 2021 to 2023) Also her eyebrows are now not as wide set as they previously were at debut which I figure may impact the harmony of her face as well.

Chaeyeon had some of the most unnecessary and noticeable work done. A lot of it wasn't executed the way it should've been, imho. When you look at her face, it's clear what work she's done. Not to mention - they give her the wrong styling. Her hair colors, syles, even brows and skin lightening make her look so washed out. Meanwhile, I don't agree with what you said about her sister. She does not look totally unrecognizable. She looks like her predebut self, but enhanced. All of her work was successful and more subtle. Like, this is clearly the same girl? while Chaeyeon does look like a completely different person to me

IVE is really just a mediocre group that is being carried by Wonyoungs popularity. At first IVE was tolerated because there are no groups that you can compare it to. So everyone accepts their performances. Now that new jeans and le Sserafim debuted, as more people compare them, IVE's weaknesses became really apparent. IVE really needs to step up their game so that they would not became another miss A. If they even have one bad comeback, that will become a huge blow to them. And they really need team building or some sort that will develope them as a group because it is so stiff to watch them interact. The only problem is that Wonyoung is a busy person, so I think it would not really happen. Wonyoung can survive with or without ive so the team building thing is logically not her priority.

I feel that luxury brand deals and idols being "brand ambassadors" for Chanel, Armani, Louis Vuitton etc. have started to replace streaming numbers as ways for fandoms to judge which idols (particularly girl group idols) are at the top of the heap. I think this is all the more obvious for 4th generation girl groups (IVE, Les Serrafim, New Jeans, G-Idle) where they are being judged on which members have luxury brand deals and then brag about it. In the past it wasn't unheard of for a group like Twice or Red Velvet to have a "group" brand deal (indeed one of the reasons idols never mentioned brand names or censored brand names on Vlives is because they were often endorsing a competitor) but now we are in the era of Blackpink and "individual" deals where a girl group isn't elite unless all their members have their own separate deals with different brands (like New Jeans does now). This is all part of the shift of idol as entertainer to idol as influencer.

I find it so weird how fans and especially Koreans are bragging about their faves being the ambassador of this and the ambassador of that as if they're the second coming of Jesus I'm not gonna mention how being ambassador of a fashion brand has become so common that it lost its value imo (but good for the idols though). my main issue is the reason why it has become so common among Korean celebs and idols. it's actually very obvious: South Koreans are the world's biggest spenders on luxury goods as per the latest stats here is why fashion brands are making deals with your oppas and unnies you dumbfucks

kpop stans need to learn how to direct their frustration and anger to the correct targets. i.e., when the rumors about that kakao-affilitated site writing only positive articles about ive and negative ones about other girl groups broke out everyone started targeting ive like they were the ones in control of what would be published or not. now because of the whole spotify mess with lisa and jk everyone is acting like blackpink themselves had anything to do with it. some of the most deranged comments even going as far to say that the girls exchanged sexual favors with the spotify ceo/higher ups in order for spotify to redo the chart and replace jk with lisa. i get that idols are in the most visible position and are therefore the easier targets, but it would take around 4 seconds of critical thinking for them to realize just how stupid they sound half of the time.

Soyeon's diss might have been a bit cringe but props to writing her diss. I'm not trying to compare artists but, if you're gonna diss, write your own lyrics. Blackpink, I don't believe a word y'all sing in Tally because y'all didn't write. How am I supposed to know you're not like other girls which...okay. I love y'all but come on. The lyrics for shut down that they didn’t write: "Nah, you don't wanna be on my bad side That's right, I'm slidin' through Bunch of wannabes that wanna be me Me three if I was you" They didn't write that. Jennie did not write that. If you're gonna diss then write it.

I love Yooa's new song but she really has no stage presence. She beautiful and looks like a doll but her charisma on stage is missing. Also her not singing live just doesn't do it for me as I'd love to hear her voice. It is a shame because the song, choreography and her stage looks are on point. I'd love for Hyuna to train her because Hyuna is the best with her facial expressions when it comes to her performances.

I genuinely don't get the hate for Boys Like You. It's not my favorite ITZY song, but the sound and concept suits them just fine. The lyrics are a bit cringy, but I don't really expect lyrical genius from pop songs, anyways.

Miyeon is a very blah performer especially compared to the rest of Gidle, even with a song like Nxde she manages to turn out a very dull and bland performance. She looked dead in the face in the music video too Even the chillest and most introverted idols (Irene from Red Velvet, Mina from Twice, Kyungsoo from EXO) know how to turn up the charisma and power when the concept REALLY calls for it. And speaking of Nxde, its not really a good song but strangely enough I don't think Soyeon was necessarily trying to make a good song, she was trying to make a provocative song, she KNEW the song would get mixed up reactions and in THAT regard I can at least respect the song, even if its not the strongest from a musical perspective.

this is really an unpopular opinion since everyone and their mother is praising BP's MV and how it's full of reference of their past mvs. I agree it's another gorgeous looking mv as usual but I really wanted to see more creativity. What they did is basically replicating the exactly same scenes and designs but in a fancier way I'm an army and I'm not a huge fan of Yet to come but what BTS did in that mv (which is also a homage to their past MVs) was more creative and nuanced
