  1. Reading those replies made me so sad. Like we know everything is edited to perfection in kpop, but seeing people think that that's not the case in honestly concerning. Like how far you have to be in denial that you would even consider that 5th comment Karina pic to not be edited. My faves get edited, your faves get edited. It's just a thing everyone should be aware. Idols are good looking people but they are not perfect porcelain ai-dolls. I'm personally never really connected to Winter's visuals but in the un-edited waving picture i think she looks so adorable and i see the charm. (in the other picture she looks way too skinny tho). Usually when i see fan-taken pics by non-fansites i find idols way more attractive than in fansite pics or overly edited journalist, concept pics etc.

  2. Following up on the above, Haruto & Woongki both posted full rainbow hearts on insta recently and I'm going to assume they both know what it implies. Not exactly shocking news lol but hey it still fits here.

  3. the way some (most) of the comments really seem to believe that posting unedited photos of idols equals to hating and bashing them ((: and they have the nerve to call whoever posts unedited idol pics weird for doing so and not just believing idols are a different species of 100% perfect humans.... where do we go from here? this is kinda embarrassing and sad at the same time

  5. This whole time I worried about his health so much. I've had someone in my life go through extreme weight loss all of a sudden without changing anything nor trying to lose weight and it turned out they had stage four cancer. I've always been worried about something like that happening to people around me since then. It was a huge shock. The person went from looking great to looking very slim but still good, to looking so sickly and gaunt. I have been worried about his overall health since he started losing weight rapidly too. I'm so glad he went to the doctor. Whatever the reason is, I just want him well.

  7. I never really got into Purple Kiss until I saw them cover Circle Of Life. And I was immediately drawn into their incredible vocals. But Sweet Juice is just *chef's kiss* They showcased their soft and whispery vocals and combined with that sensual sound. It's well produced! Love the tribute to The Shining in the MV too.

  12. I think it’s possible since quite a few celebrities have gotten their noses tweaked at age 14 like Bella Hadid or even younger. Eunchae from Le Sserafim also debuted at 15 and had a nose job before debut, so she was no older than 15.

  13. Blackpink Jennie's antis are the worst kind of women to be around... so sure of themselves, so judgmental and rude with deep seated misogyny... I can't help but feel awful when I see the hate comments they leave for her online.

  14. Hi, I haven't been here for a while. I am here to share feedback about the way threads are moved on this forum. *** Forums similar to OneHallyu have opened (sub)sections dedicated to discussion. See examples: KPOPSource; Hallyu+; Soompi; allkpop. I can't seem to understand a reason for not wanting to have one here, but I still think it would be nice to have one. I say it for the following reasons. The topics for some of the discussions related to Korean Entertainment are usually moved to Random, which is a section that allows for every other topic that may or may not be related at all to Korean Entertainment. For example: you could open a topic on asking people to make predictions for whom might win at the Melon Music Awards (see here) and have that sit next to a topic, for example, about what you cannot stand about your country; see here. Moreover, in this particular case, the topic for the Melon Music Awards was originally posted in Celebrity News and Gossip. The topic itself had given a link to the source from which the information was drawn. It was specifically intended to be used as a space for discussion, and yet it was moved to Random. However, threads that ask about if you remember a song (see here, for example) can be allowed to be kept in Music, alongside threads that contain more recent music content, but somehow would apply differently for threads that are not music-related, such as the example that I gave in 1. I understand there is a need to not "clutter" a section with threads that are considered to be updates or news with threads that are not considered as such. However, those threads might not need to be deferred to a section like Random. Instead, like the first example I gave, it could have made (more) sense to leave them as they were in the section where they were originally posted. (Newer) users might not immediately connect that Random is a space where those type of threads would be moved; and what was said about that was echoed similarly in 2020 by @satoori. For the example I gave in 1, because the thread was moved to Random, any posts made thereafter (the first three posts) were not counted towards a user's overall post count. So that means that if it had been left in Celebrity News & Gossip, every post in that thread would have counted, and not just the first three, especially if any user had wanted that; because moving it to Random would've stifled them from being able to do so. It is for those reasons that I still feel an additional section on this forum is needed.

  18. Does anyone have unedited (legitimately) and non-airbrushed photos of idols, actors or celebrities (Korean, Japanese or even from the West)? I recently found this article without any interference and the 3rd photo (Winter) and Ningning (1st photo) don’t look like them at all, Karina looks uncanny valley: https://www.pannchoa.com/2023/06/enter-talk-seeing-aespas-pictures-you.html?m=1 The replies then go on to post extremely edited/ airbrushed photos. Side note: Winter looks way too skinny.

  19. I mean this could go in the music section, it’s not breaking any rules but I personally feel like this is a psuedo-chat thread (kind of informal) + there’s already a thread with a similar purpose in the k-music section so I would advise against the move ig I’m basically just agreeing with what queenie @love said

Just wanted to share something interesting I found: not sure if video linking is working so here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8o_Zk8fdeDc Omg this sounds soooo real, especially during the chorus starting from 0:45. Now we know how Jessica would sound like if she had Taeyeon's level of technique. Crazy what AI can do

  27. Wow Jun from SVT looks a bit different these days? His face somehow seems smaller but it's still angular so maybe it's just some extreme weight loss? recent pics aju nice era predebut Seems like he has been having well defined features as a kid and only touches his face here and there in a minor way... but i hope he's moderate with that because he's already looking good. But yeah being in show business and the peer/self pressure to look good all the times can do things to you.

  28. Chan is interesting case with his ps for me. Because it's not like his plastic surgery is trying to mold him into 'standard kbs mold'. Like they didnt narrow his nose by huge amount or anything. I honestly dont know what they are trying to achieve. I feel like it just removed some of his old charm, but without really changing much? I dont know really how to explain lol. Like they tried to change something without really thinking how it would fit his face

  29. I mean most idols debuting at this age have gotten work done as far as I think. I don’t even believe it’s a new developtment. I think even Jungkook had gotten cosmetic enhancements done before debut (correct me if I’m wrong). And if I do remember this falsely, then I want to say he still absolutly got work done (in my opinion) while being underage, my latest guess would be he started from around 2015, at 17. Teenagers that young might maybe not get huge operations, like jaw shaves, necessary right away but I think it’s a lot more normalised in sk to start out young with “smaller” enhancements (like double eyelid surgery for ex). Like even (some) regular high schoolers get cosmetic enhancements, sometimes even as graduation gifts.

  30. I hope he hadn't done it but I also had a feeling he might have. While it is unethical to give children plastic surgery, we've seen it in K-pop before and we still see it today. Even in the West there are cases like Dove Cameron. Entertainment industry is scary and stage parents are even scarier

Girl from that trailer alone I wouldn't have watched it... not shocked that the weeknd's acting is bland look at his taste in women -shoots ak-47 no silencer- I stopped at the dance troupe practice scene in that jennie compilation cause I laughed so fucking hard at Jennie's dancing that's exactly how sis performs on stage.. unseasoned , no salt no pepper no creole saizon..straight from the freezer into the oven. I'm back again cause nah...Ms Jennie really told herself she could act or acting is a breeze.. Girl if u don't get yo ass in the f-cking dance studio -bombastic side eye-

  34. i remember this from shuhua. i feel like there's definitely been mentions of queer media by them but it's not coming to me right now

  35. Honestly, I've always seen Namjoon as a very supportive ally. He's a true progressive and imo his support of LGBT rights simply mirrors his support of women's rights. His interest in queer media isn't necessarily an indication he's queer himself, but he like, wants to understand queer people on an intellectual and emotional level, because he wants to be a good ally for queer people around him (potentially, including some of his fellow members). I could be wrong of course, he's a very cerebral person so he might also be someone who's mostly attracted to a person's mind and personality, with their physical appearance (including gender) not being as much of a factor.

  36. I really don’t think Sehun is straight. Remember when Chen supposedly outed him during a radio show by saying he would not want to date him if he was a girl? People freaked out because Chen mentioned that the problem with dating Sehun was related to being “the opposite gender”, then both Xiumin and Ryeowook laughed before Ryeowook ended the conversation for “privacy reasons”. At that time I thought it made no sense for them to say this kind of stuff carelessly if Sehun was gay so I came to the conclusion that it was just a joke or a misleading translation. But looking back, it was definitely a ??? moment. And there have been many others with Sehun, just on the top of my head: - “He is not interested in girls” - “I like male fans…I like…men..." - Jokes about using his face to swindle people, then clarifies "not women" - That awkward moment during MAMA 2015 when Seungri sat on his lap (it was not planned, and I don't know if Seungri did it on purpose but to me it really looked like Sehun was dying of embarrassment) - He picked up a question asking him if he was gay during a live (around 1:55). Of course he answered no but his reaction was kinda funny and really doesn’t match the “Sehun is tired of people asking him if he's gay!!!!” narrative that I've seen around. And finally, that older guy he was always hanging out with around 2016/2017. Maybe they were just friends but it was a bit suspicious. The fact that shippers had a meltdown over it (1, 2) is very telling. edit: I forgot to mention Sehun's friendship with Donghae. I'll post about Donghae later, I'm curious about people opinion on him.

  37. Jennie’s outfit is amazing, but girl what were you thinking signing up for this show, it seems like such trash Is YG just not good at getting these girls acting jobs?? Because first they put Jisoo in that problematic Kdrama and now Jennie’s being slapped into this train wreck.

  43. The thing with Ryujin is that she's pretty openly trying to attract female fans. I'm not saying she can't be genuinely into girls but it's hard to see past her idol persona for someone who isn't a fan of Itzy (like myself). Karina she is just so gorgeous that I can't have an opinion on her. I'm too afraid to be blinded by wishful thinking
    1 point
  44. soojin i lowkey agree but could you elaborate on ryujin? i remember those videos of ryujin with that female artist on a video call and she was really flirting imo so that kind of solidified for me shes into girls
    1 point
  45. That definitely is an unpopular opinion! You're definitely right that some people will argue that female idols aren't gay based off stereotypes like appearance, but I also don't necessarily agree that liking a WLW song or a WLW movie necessitates that that person be queer. To bring it back to anecdotal experience, I guess... One of my best friends, the straightest girl I know, has a bunch of WLW songs in her playlist and loves girl in red lol. Happily in a long term relationship with a guy and doesn't quite understand my attraction to women but supports me all the same haha. So it could mean something for some people... but not always. I think media can be taken as a probable (though of course, never certain) sign when a) the idol is constantly recommending queer media very disproportionately b) they're 'strangely' attached to/affected by it (especially if they have strong attachments to the artists/actresses/etc behind the media) or c) if they're recommending queer media that is very niche/not well known, that you would never come across unless you consciously searched for WLW media. Honey by Kehlani was a huge song at the time, so many Kpop idols mentioned it and I heard it on the radio all the time. And The Handmaiden was directed by Park Chan-wook and is a very well-known film, especially in Korea. I don't think being an ally has much merit on the sexuality of the person, either. Some queer people are deeply in the closet and/or dealing with repression and self hatred. Alternatively, lots of straight people support LGBT these days, especially if you grew up in a western country (is Australia/NZ even considered the west..?), if you're in an industry full of queer people (like any art adjacent industry is), or if you're a public figure and know that a large portion of your fanbase is queer and/or liberal-minded. But then again, some queer women aren't easy to guess, so that's not to say Lisa and Jennie might not be queer, this is all conjecture. Just my thoughts.
